Great location, a 5-10 minute walk to the center. If you like a more modern hotel this is not for you. We loved the charm of this old 17th century hotel. The owner and his wife are trying to preserve the character. They have renovated many of the rooms. Ours was small, but so cute. The plumbing is loud, but with a building that old it is to be expected. This is a great value hotel. The breakfast room downstairs is beautiful....with the original fireplace, big cozy chairs and half timbered walls. We didn't try the breakfast, but the room was a nice place to sit and read.

Nice clean hotel in a favourable location for tourists in Rouen. The hotel is right next to a large underground parking garage which was very convenient for this small city. Two floors of the hotel were under renovation while we were there so it was quite loud during the day. The room itself was well kept but old. The floor was uneven, the door to the bathroom wouldn't close all the way, but this wasn't a huge issue for us. The bed was not that comfortable, it sagged in the middle and squeeked. Lastly the walls are quite thin so you can hear other guests talking at night. Wireless is free in the lobby and the signal may not reach your room.

The Morand is a nice, clean hotel close to the railroad station and within easy walking range to Rouen Cathedral and downtown. The employees are eficient and kind, and prices are quite reasonable. Perhaps the only point (for people traveling with heavy suitcases) is that there is no elevator.

The Morand is a nice quiet two star hotel very conveniently located for tourists who are looking for a comfortable quiet place to stay, but near enough to walk to the museums and monuments.
It is situated on a side street off the main boulevard coming from the train station. It is charming typical old world hotel where I had a nice breakfast of cheese, baguettes, croissant, coffee, orange juice, applesauce and yogurt every morning before walking the streets of Rouen.
It is barely a few hundred feet from the incredible Musee de Beaux Arts with the second largest Impressionism collection in the world, and where I was well pleased to see Modigliani had his own room. Around the corner from that is the ironwworks museum situated in one of many beautiful medieval churhes, and the other direction the ceramics museum and the tower where of Joan of Arc was held captive.
The owner of the hotel was very nice, dragged my very heavy bag up the stairs for me, and seemed to always be there except on the weekend. When I left, I walked to the train station pulling two bags in about 5-10 minutes, and enjoyed eating at the nearby Cafe de Arrivee on several occasions.
You are in the heart of Normandy, and I highly recommend you brushing up on your French before going. I arrived by train from Paris (a grueling experience coming from CDG), but the town looks fairly easy to navigate by car (unlike Paris). There was absolutely no distance issues for walking (for me) to anything on the tourist map.
The antiquities museum was also a highlight for me with Merovingian tombs, lots of Gallo-Roman artifacts, and remnants of churches that had been destroyed during the war.

Great central location, and a real character building. That of course means it's not a modern all-facilities business hotel, and it's all thebetter for that. Only let down was a slightly shabby bathroom - some refurbishment required in this area. But great value for money.

Our stay at Hotel Morand was very pleasant. The hotel is old, but the rooms are spacious, the bathroom is very nice, and the shower was roomy and the water good and hot. The staff was very competent and gracious and friendly. The neighborhood was a little noisy at night because of the cars zooming down the street. The hotel is in walking distance of good eating, shops and the cathedral. We would probably stay there again.

Charming old hotel built in the Norman-Tudor style one sees everywhere in Rouen. Extremely well located within easy walking distance of downtown spots for shopping and site-seeing.
The concierge was charming and helpful with an extensive knowledge of restaurants and things to do in Rouen.
Hotel has no elevator. It was not a problem for me but could be for others as there are 4 floors. Breakfast was very French with croissants, pain au chocolat, baguette (une flute), cheese, jam and coffee, tea or hot chocolate. Realistic expectations are needed in France. There is very little space especially in older hotels, but if you want a taste of the real thing and to be right in the heart of a French town with all the culture Hotel Morand is for you. If you are a public person (I am not) they have a great lobby with a huge fireplace, exposed timbers and comfy furniture where you can relax, read, visit, whatever. Highly recommended.

A place is unclear. When shutting the door of an entrance, you have to warn against making a loud sound. Since a shower room and a toilet were the things made from after in the room and the wall of a shower room had not attained them to the ceiling of the room, the room was filled with humidity after the shower. The button when passing a toilet was unclear. However, neither is big problems. Although a building is old so, it has effect and the width of the room and its cleanliness are enough. It was easy to catch an employee's English and it carried out correspondence very polite and kind to the Japanese who does not understand language well. It has been satisfied although he only stayed overnight. I want to stay again, when there is an opportunity.

We used the hotel as an overnight stop from Calais on our way to Brittany. It's interior was quite unique, and different from the standard rooms found in the usual chains. No evening meal avaiable only a bar, but we ate at the main square where there was a wide selction of restaurants. Overnight parking is an additional 11 euros.Continental breakfast was good.

Beautiful old building with traditional older style furnishings which were a real feature along with the unlevel stairs and out of square walls. It felt like staying in a middle ages hotel but it was very comfortable and had all the modern bathroom features you need. The hotel staff were very welcoming and this was the only place in France where they were not rude because I couldn't speak fluent French.

room badly in need of refurbishing, eg, carpet old, worn and not clean and facilities in room generally need upgrading. The cheap price probably reflects an expectation of a lesser standard, but old doesn't have to mean sub standard.

Albon gave us a wonderful welcome and wasvery helpful in recommending places to eat. We missed the market square restaurants but enjoyed an excellent meal art Pascalines at very reasonable prices. We loved the "medieaval" decor of our room, which was a very good size and the ensuite bathroom was more than adequate, fortunately we were on the first floor and did not have to negotiate the spiral stairs to the fifth floor, probably because we booked three months in advance . The continental breakfast was great value and included fruit and yoghurt. This hotel is within walking distance of all the key parts of town, but get a map and directions from via
michelin.com if you are driving because there are a number of one way/narrow streets and it is easy to miss your turn off. Overall great value for money and very friendly service where English is spoken.

It was a pretty scary place; down a street, and the Hotel light wasn't lit. The carpet in the general areas was filthy. The room itself was okay, but the window wouldn't shut, and there was quite a bit of noise on the street. If I could have, I would have changed hotels. Since I was by myself, I hung in there for the two nights, though.

The owner speaks English very fluently and helped us by providing useful information on shopping and sightseeing. The building is historically old and has very interesting atmosphere, but has no lift.
Overall, I am very much satisfied with the stay.

The hotel staff were very welcoming and extremely helpful. The current owners had only had the hotel for a few months and were undertaking refurbishments, which were badly needed, but the central location of the hotel in beautiful Rouen and the attitude of the staff more than made up for any minor inconvenience. The breakfast was excellent too.

The hotel is close to the railway station and a 5 min's walk from the historical centre (the big clock, you know..). The price is quite low, and the hotel itself is good. The black point is that the breakfast costs 6€ - and I wasn't told it by the personnel (is it said in this site? I don't know..). But it's worth the price: bread, butter, jam, tea or coffee, croissants & pain au chocolat at will, orange juice.

Great old hote, lots of character and charm. Host was very very friendly and spoke excellent English. Breakfast was great. Room was 3rd floor, no lift, nice room, excepptionally clean and quite roomy. A little hard time finding the hotel, due to one-way streets in old part of town, but we found it and parked right in front (also has underground parking garage about 1/2 block away). Good acess to nice restaurants and museums, we had dinner at Caribe cafe about one block away and had a wonderful meal, be sure that we will visit and stay again.

If you can book this room, get it. We stayed in the room with 15th century frescos, The staff was friendly and professional. They recommended great restaurants every night we were there. It's only a short 10 min walk to the Duomo, 20 to most other attractions. They were adding a new lobby and rooms, so the stay will be even better. I'm looking forward to the next trip to Firenze.

The hotel was difficult to find using the online map. The hotel had a public underground carpark very close and was within walking distance to all the sights. The rooms were clean but old fashioned, and the decor/architecure was interesting! Good breakfast and excellent welcome and assistance from the staff. Overall we'd recommend this hotel to anyone who likes something a little different ie not sterile. The only downside was that our room was only a few metres away from a party being held in the appartments opposite, however that was all over by 11pm!

The owners could not have been more helpful or welcoming. The location was pretty rough and very noisy at night. No ventilation meant the windows needed to be fully open onto busy streets. The walls were paper thin. The rooms were in urgent need of modernisation and redecoration. Bathroom area smelled bad. The breakfast was fine

This is a great hotel, with public parking very close, and in a great location in Rouen, but it was very hard for us to find. We called the hotel and they helped us find them. The hotel is kindof hidden at the end of a small street. The friendly staff more than made up for the difficulty in finding it. They were very nice and eager to help us.

The hotel is very well situated in the centre of Rouen 2 minutes walk to all the bars and restaurants, as well as the main shopping centre and church(which is spectacular) the owners were very helpful and friendly and there is 24 hour secure car parking 2 minutes walk from the hotel which you recieve a 50% discount. This hotel is thoroughly recommended.

The reason I gave bad "points" for the noise level was not hotel's fault, but between 4 and 5 am there was some stupid racing in the street near by and some fools played music loud in the cars while racing. It only last for about one hour but was very irritating.
