The staff was fairly friendly, rooms clean, fresh fruit for breakfast - which was a treat. Rooms small but typical for Europe, noise from the street but you're in a big city. Close to the park for exercise, close to the train station and many other areas, close to an excellent pizza restaurant that does take out as well.

We stayed here one night on our way home from Italy. The location was very convenient to the train station, and it was in a nice neighborhood near restaurants. Our host was very accomodating, even rising early to give us coffee before our dawn departure. Our room and bath were totally updated. The room was cramped, and would benefit from having some of the excess furniture and draperies removed. Otherwise, we thought the hotel was very nice.

The small hotel located in the thrird floor of a historical building, was a really good surprise to me. The efficent and warm welcome, the hospitality of the staff and the good taste of details in the rooms and the public areas exceeded my expectations. As per the location, the hotel is blocks away from the big trains/metro station to take you anywhere into or out of town. Also, being Rome a city to discover by walking, for those who like to do it this way, from the Piave you can reach the city center and the main places to be seen, by walking. I am in love with Rome and for sure, next time I am back there, I will be also back in the beautiful Piave. One of the best small places I have known while travelling in Italy.

The hotel which is on the third floor of an apartment building was quite difficult to locate on a quiet Sunday afternoon. It was reached via a very old elevator! The old chap (the owner) who let us in commented in poor English on my good Italian (which is non-existent). Everyday he used increasingly more English to say how my Italian was improving which it was not! A theory of mind problem! The weather was good, so the quite long walks to the main sites were fine. We did not use public transport. The area around is quiet and peaceful. The room was very small but clean, and everything worked. Breakfast was typically continental and efficiently served. Apart from the rather dingy front entrance to the apartment block (there were private apartments on other floors) everything was very good and I would certainly stay again.

Stayed here for 2 nights. The hotel has either been recently renovated or they do a really good job with maintenance/cleaning. The rooms were exceptionally clean. The bed was comfortable and I actually fit into it, being 6'2 some of the other places we stayed at my feet would go past the edge. The breakfast buffet selection could have been better. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

This was located an easy 15 minute walk from Termini station in a quiet neighborhood that was very convenient to their great bus system. The rooms were very clean, quiet and perfect for 2. Too small for more. The dollar is so weak (spring 08) that it was expensive (140 Euros= 210 dollars) given the smallness of the room and the limited English speakers available at the front desk all day. But it is very clean, quiet, the breakfast was excellent, and it is easy to find. We found it convenient to the sites whether walking or bussing it. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Nice hotel in the 3rd floor of block of flats with romantic lift. It is located near the historical city centre and also the metro station. Fine staff speaking English and Polish and Russian too. Usual continental breakfast - fantastic fresh pastry and fruit.

The hotel is quite nice. They did provide everything they promised. A minor inconvenience is that are situated on the third floor in a building and you feel like staying in a room in a large apartment, but this is far from bad for young people. Very close to Termini and the Coloseo. The elevator in the building was a unique experience - I have never ridden in an ancient elevator such as this. It brings you back to WWII. Staff - very friendly and efficient. Good command of English.

easy to walk to from termini. hotel up several floors in rather atmospheric lift!rooms nicely decorated but very small and compact- however comfy!breakfast area small, so you have to choose your time carefully, but good basic choice.more like a b& b than a hotel, but it suited us. bars and eateries all within short walk.some traffic noise but you are in the centre of rome....and we walked miles and miles!go to cafe greco near spanish steps for fantastic expresso as recommended by Francesco di Mosta!

Hotel was a bit difficult to find, look for H.P (Hotel Piave) at the door. The building (elevator and staircase) was in poor condition but the hotel floor was fine. Room was small but clean. Breakfast very good. We had to leave half an hour earlier than agreed. Price/quality good.

I am a frequent visitor to Rome, and have been for 25 years. This is in a city where mediocrity is getting to be very expensive. Rooms and the hotel in general are quite stylish, and lot of attention is paid to detail. These people care. Easy walk from Termini, the Porta Pia area and Parioli. Hosts are quite gracious, and your experience will be enhanced if you speak even a little Italian.

This hotel was nice - very clean, nice bathroom, friendly staff, decent breakfast. The room was very small, but overall in good quality. The surrounding area is fairly nice with some good restaraunts close by. Via Veneto is a short walk, as are 2 of the metro stations.

Great family run hotel. Highly recommended. The hotel is in a residential area about 10min walk from Termini. The room and bathroom are small but clean and new. It is generally quite at night, except for the garbage truch which came at midnight both nights of our stay.
The front desk stuff are very friendily and helpful. We felt like we are genuinely welcomed there. The free breakfast is great. There are ham, salami, cheese, yogurt, two kinds of celerals, fruits, bread buns, croissants, milk, juice, etc. (see pictures)
We were able to eat breakfast leisurely the fist morning when it was already one hour past the breakfast time. No body hurried us.

Hotel Piave was exactly what we wanted in Rome. They were willing to stow or baggage til our room was ready and the excellent young woman on the front desk spoke great English and was totally helpful our entire stay (sorry I don't know her name, but she had glasses). The room had everything we needed, the bathroom was a good size and overall there was a really nice feel to the place. There were also several brilliant trattorie close by including Al Forno (also on via Piave). We rated this hotel one of the best we stayed at in Italy. The welcoming, friendly staff and nice surrounding area made it a great place to rest a weary head!

Very good rooms incl bath room. Good bed. Very nice employees, helpful and smiling. Breakfyast not quite after nordic standards (dark bread, eggs etc), but ok. Only problem we had, was with the elevator, which doors was to narrow to allow us to roll in our baby carriage. Otherwise a totally enjoyable stay.

Good value and location. Thanks to other reviews, we were prepared to search by address (sign just a plaque on the wall) to find the place and to buzz to get door opened for admission. Quaint, tiny elevator wasn't working when we arrived so we had to lug suitcases up three floors. Manager spoke limited English, we knew no Italian, so we frustrated the poor man a bit trying to orient us. However, after that, everything was great. Room was small, but quiet and comfortable. Air conditioning worked. Breakfasts were generous. Elevator was fixed. Found several good pizza restaurants nearby. Neighborhood felt safe both day and night. Within walking distance of Stazione Termini for the Hop On, Hop Off tour, the Metro, and the trains to other cities.

The first time at Hotel Piave, but it would be on my list of hotels should I wish to stay in Rome again in the future. It's main drawback was the distance from the city centre. It was a long walk to the 'sights' but then again I could have used public transport. The hotel was clean and the staff welcoming-even apologetic for us having to climb the stairs to the 3rd floor. The website directions were very accurate, even telling us about the small Hotel nameplate at ground level.

good location walking distance from Termini station. building itself a bit run down and the sign of the hotel is hard to spot. Only on the sunday a concierge we never saw before woke us up at 8.30am to ask us to come to breakfast - even though it closed at 9.30!
the room we stayed in had been redone but had already a few things wrong - chipped tiling, shelves not so stable etc. Quite pricey - but that is Rome for you...

Great little hotel, clean with all the basic necessities. Not very roomy but really a nice place to come home to. The staff were very helpful even with the limited english. Very close to Termini station (10 mins walk), also not far from a few great little trattoria's. I would definately stay there again.

The reason Piave does not get our top mark throughout is due entirely to the rigidity of the breakfast fare offered. Yes, it was adequate, but boring bulk buy basics, and we discovered we could buy pure juice and yoghurt in the supermarket at a cheaper price than in the UK.
We knew it was on the third floor and reliance placed on the antique lift! However, the amenities in the area were easily reached and Thomas & Sylvia were extremely helpful.

The Hotel is quite hard to locate; look for the small plaque on the wall on the west side of Via Piave saying 'Albergo Piave' and speak into the grille. then help yourself to the quaint old lift up to the third floor. Once there, the welcome is warm and friendly, the rooms clean, good quality and cool in summer. Breakfast is basic but good. Little English is spoken, but don't let this put you off. They are nice people and that is what matters.

Very well choice, I can say that Hotel Piave is really above 2 stars quality. I may always think about staying there again. Just the breakfast is somehow weak. Do not miss to try the pizza restaurant on the left side of the hotel on the same street, oven baked and delicious pizza.

We stayed in Rome in a room with a double bed with private bathroom for four days. Don Tomaso was fantastic and made our stay very pleasant. The room was small, but clean. The hotel had a great location and the neighborhood was lovely and very safe, and accessible to transportation.

The room was very nicely furnished and clean, bed was comfortable. Only one english channel and our mobile didn't work in the hotel. The staff was very nice and helpful allthough they didn't speak very fluent english wich was very coommon all around Rome. I would go again and recommend to budget travellers. The area was nice and we walked to all the sights with no problems. To the left from the hotel there was a very good pizzeria and also a nice cafeteria bar hosted by a young couple who would do anything for us.

After a rather eccentric approach to the hotel (I don't recommend it to anyone with a lift phobia)this is a real surprise. It is tastefully decorated and very pleasant. It is ideally situated as it's ten minutes walk from the station which means very handy for the bus and the Metro. I would definitely stay here again as I found it a good base from which to explore Rome and there was an ambience about it which you don't often find in hotels at the lower end of the price range. I'd also like to put in a word for La Pizzeria "al Forno della Soffitta" two blocks up on the same side of the road - excellent pizza, reasonable prices and full of local people rather than tourists.

I really recommend this hotel. The rooms are quite small but comfortable and clean. The shower is great. It's not far from the termini (about a 10 mins walk) Nice breakfast and friendly staff/owners. Only down side was that the double bed was actually two singles pushed together.
I would definitely return.

Do not judge a book by its cover. When you first get on via Piave and locate the building you wonder were you are. But once inside you can fell the warmth and the italian hospitality. Rooms are small but who cares? They are very clean and comfortable. Well located, you are few blocks away from the metro and within a kilometer of a beautiful park and museum (Borghese). I strongly recommend Auberge Piave and use this opportunity to thank and give our best regards to the personnel.

Location: the hotel is difficult to find( even on the street on which it is located).
Rooms: Small.
Lift: Rickety. it is one of those 50 year old lifts maintaining which is not in the top 100 to do list at the hotel and probably hasnt been on that list for the last 49 years.
Service: Next to shit. I was out of the room for some 30 minutes and my wife got 2-3 calls asking when we will be moving out. A very unpleasant experience. Will not recommend the hotel for this BIG reason.

This hotel is a 10 mins walk to Termini train station at a very convenient location. There's also a bus right in front of the hotel that takes you to the Termini. It's a family run hotel and the owner is a very friendly old man who welcomed us like family. Breakfast is continental and sufficient. Rooms are small but nicely done up and very clean.

the hotel was easy to find. The buzzer on the door has 'HP' and you need to press this to be let in. The receptionist knew little english and couldn't provide us with any recommendations on where to eat. The room was particularly small but clean and towels changed daily. the shower was excellent and a real bonus. I would recommend 'Arancia Blu' a vege restuarant, out of the way abit but well worth it, on Via dei Latini 55/65. Also 'San Marco' a restaurant near the hotel, on Via Sardegna.

This is a really good hotel. We saw luxury hotels that did not have more than a fancy lobby to offer, and charged 3 times more. The staff is supurb and really made us feel at home. There are some really great restaurants you may not go to unless you are in this area. It's a bit hard to spot because the sign is small, but for the price, it is an excellent value.
