very warm welcoming, quality of service and kindness of employees ,appetizing breakfast, very well located in roma ,I enjoyed my stay in Hotel Farnese even if I found the room a little small.

The staff was simply great! They helped with restaurants, directions, bus lines etc... The breakfast was very good (a great spread of eggs, bacon, fruit, cold cuts, cheese, etc) and a view of the St Peter's Cupola to booth. Our room was big enough to acomodate 3 people and had plenty of towels and bedding. The hotel is five minutes walk to the river and the bridge will take you directly into Piazza del Popolo (shopping galore!).

The hotel did not at all look like the photographs we'd seen which looked much more rural than urban and it was very urban. The decoration was good the lifts were terribly small, breakfast was good but location on roof a problem with the lifts. There was no restaurant and meals were only available after much hiking to a restaurant whose food was indifferent, so meals became a major problem. The staff were friendly and the room small but adequate- we had one with a balcony which was near the roof and meant a hike up many stairs- I refused to take the lift.

We read several of the reviews before booking the Hotel Farnese, and we were not disappointed at all. Excellent front desk staff, good location, lovely breakfast terrace. A 2 minute walk to the subway stop Lepanto, therefore good connections to all major sights in Rome. Also not too far to walk to Castel Sant'Angelo etc. We certainly recommend this hotel to other travellers, and we will stay there during our next visit to Rome.

charming hotel, we spend an excellent time in this hotel but in my opinion the price is oversized in comparison to the number of stars and general services and facilities. one example : industrial orange juice at the breakfast, for the price it could have been fresh juice !!

TV has insufficient number of English language programmes. CNN and BBC world News is not enough. Very pretty hotel with excellent staff. Good location. Traffic noise is a problem at night.

The Junior Suite was very nice with a spacious bathroom. Excellent staff who are service oriented. The Hotel has the feel of a Great House. The Subway stop LEPANTO is only a block away. A Benchmark on where to stay. An excellent restaurant - Perilli in Prati, approximately four blocks away as you turn left as you exit from the hotel offers value, well prepared meals and great service. The house wine is recommended.

Beautiful hotel in lovely old building, within easy walking distance of the Centro Storico & Trastevere. Idyllic breakfast room on the top of the building with fabulous views - and great choice of Italian-style breakfast.

Everything was excellent, especially the competence of employees. I guess relationship between price and quality was quite reasonable. We could attend everything we want and most of famous monuments, squares and buildings were really close to the hotel.

Great staff - very unusual for Rome - and excellent breakfast on roof terrace with super views. Not right in the tourist centre - probably a good thing - but next to metro stop

Old fashion hotel. For the same money you can take a hotel in city center and save money for taxi. there is a metro station nearby, however.

Very nice hotel near the Vatican and the Metro. The breakfasts were good and the young lady working in the breakfast area makes an excellent capuccino. We would stay here again.

This rating is actually for the sister property, the Hotel Giulio Cesare, as we were transferred there since the Farnese nearby is under renovation. The staff and the hotel were excellent. The neighborhood was quiet, clean, and safe. The hotel is convenient to everything you want to see in Rome either a short walk or a metro stop away.

Hotel Farnese far exceeded my expectations. The room was beautiful and extremely clean. The front desk folks were very friendly and so helpful in booking tours, recommending excellent restaurants and answering all your questions. The hotel is conveniently located a block from the Leptano Metro station, two blocks from river and only a few blocks from great shopping and restaurants.

very friendly and helpful staff, good location worth a repeat visit only issue was that full size bed was only two singles put together
USA, Mar 2007
The concierge was wonderful. He gave us quite helpful tips about visiting the Vatican. When my traveling companion had trouble using her international calling card, the concierge came to our room to help her! We definitely recommend this hotel...and we will return to it when on our next visit to Rome. We were able to walk everywhere we and felt safe. Our transportation to the airport was arranged and prompt....wonderful visit!

We loved the Hotel Farnese. We felt welcome, the reception staff were charming and helpful beyond the call of duty. (Some Irish hotels could learn from them!) We had a junior suite which was lovely, spacious, comfortable, quiet. The location was perfect for walking to many of the major sights and to nice restaurants. We would certainly stay there again. I think anyone who values good quality and service delivered with warmth and a smile would like this hotel.

An excellent hotel, very clean, accomodating service, well situated in a quiet neighborhood, well priced. A two block walk from the hop-on/hop-off city tour bus. Ten minute walk one direction to the Vatican, 10 minute walk another into center city. The only surprise was a pleasant one: everything was delivered even better than promised. I would stay again, would strongly recomend for friends & family.

We spent three nights at the Farnese and I can't fault the place at all. Its in a very pleasant quiet neighbourhood but well within walking distance to everything. Room was spacious and immaculate, staff on the desk were very good. 4* hotels in Rome are generally on the pricey side so I'd definitely recommend the Farnese as its about as good value for money as you'll get in Rome. They can also pick you up from the airport (Ciampino in our case) for 50/55 Euros, well worth it. Transfer time is around 40mins.

Wonderful selection at breakfast with great coffee. Quiet, spacious rooms with efficient services. We loved walking, but the nearby bus and subway connections allowed us free movement anywhere in Rome. Each staff member went out of their way to make our stay comfortable (1 week) and we would return anytime.

Very helpful staff at the hotel, we really felt welcome. They also gave good recomendations for restaurants in the nearby area, much nicer restaurant than in the middle of the old town. The food was better and to slightly lower price!

The hotel was beautiful and in a lovely neighborhood. The staff was welcoming, helpful and delightful. They even arranged for a drive to pick us up from the Airport. We LOVED the real linen sheets and nightly turn down service with Baci on the pillow. Very chic. The room was a little small but makes sense due to the historic nature of the building and neighborhood. It was definitely comfortable. The location was an easy walk to the Vatican and other key sites. The morning breakfast was delightful - and the owner's home harvested honey a special treat. We would definitely stay there again. Thanks Farnese Staff for a great time!

Very friendly and helpful staff. We enjoyed our stay so much we want to return again! Louis, Allesandra and Andre truly made us feel at home. Everything was as described on the net. Among the various breakfast items were some of our favorites; fresh fruit, delicious cheese, yogurt and TEAPOTS! Location was a real plus as we wanted to be within walking distance to the Vatican and St. Peter's and we were, as well as other areas and shopping. We even took the metro which was around the corner. Enjoyed dinners at Villini's restaurant which was also a short walk from the Farnese.

The Farnese was in a perfect location. Right next to a Metro stop, 10 minutes from the Vatican, 25 minutes to the Spanish Steps. The staff speaks excellent English and were very helpful. We arranged for the transfer service from the airport to the hotel which was a treat after the long flight over.

Hotel Farnese was a very nice place to stay! All staff very kind, helpful, and welcoming. Our room was very clean and the bathroom was nice. It's location, just a block from the Lepanto subway station was very convienent. The breakfast served was delicious and served in a very quaint dining area. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Unfortunately, our initial impression of Farnese, which was excellent, was unofrgettably marred by dysfunctional air-conditioning. The night clerk didn't speak very good English, and so he couldn't understand that I indeed knew how to operate a standard thermostat, but in fact, the air-conditioning for the entire building had stopped working. On the hottest day in July, this was very unfortunate. We spent a sleepless night with the door to the terrace open. Otherwise, the staff were courteous, the breakfast was excellent, and the hotel's accomodations were certainly 4/5 stars.

Lovely little hotel! Centrally located. We got a double and a junior suite. Pretty rooms, not extremely big, however the bathrooms are a very good size. Alessandra and Louis at the reception were very welcoming and helpful, as well as the ladies at the breakfast room. I would definitely stay at Farnese again.

Wonderful hotel.Very pleasant reception staff. We used the available transportation from the airport and found it very useful especially after a long overseas flight. They met us immediately outside of customs. The rooms were lovely and the linen sheets divine. The breakfast was more that adequate and if you are a fan of capuccino, simply ask for it from the wait staff. I only discovered this on the last day.. We walked everywhere from the hotel although the subway stop was just across the street if you did decide to zip quickly back to the hotel. Highly recommend this hotel.

We had a great 4 night stay in the hotel. While not right in the centre it was only a ten minute walk across the river to Plaza del Popolo, and while we walked almost everywhere it was great to be right by the tube for easy access across the city. The only let-down at all was the roof terrace which looked cheap and the sides of which were bizarrely enclosed in clear(ish) plastic. Our room was large, nicely decorated and very clean. We will definately recommend it to our friends.

The hotel has the feel of a family hotel. The staff on the desk were always helpful. We had a junior suite which was spacious with the largest bed I have seen outside the States! The hotel is two minutes walk from the metro although the metro is usually crowded not up to the standard of most major cities.
