The staff is extremely nice and helpful, we spoke only Italian and that might have had something to do with it. The location is horrible, but when you are cheap like me and make a reservation 2 days in advance it's hard to complain.

First time staying near the embassies. Nice hotel on a small hill with nice view. Very quiet area, but there isn't anything (shops, restaurants, etc) in walking distance. Attached restaurant very spacious, quick service, excellent food (and large portions), so not being in walking distance of things wasn't a problem.

The hotel personnel are nice and helpful. The breakfast is the regular sweet cookies, no cereal nor fruits. The area is quiet and safe. I recommend chosing this hotel if you have a car, although that you should use only to get to the train or to the buses. The train is quicker, but goes rarely or even omitted sometimes, so I opted for the bus that took us to the center in 40 minutes. I recommed having a dinner in the hotel's restaurant where you find good food and welcoming local atmosphere.

Buona colazione, buon ristorante annesso all'hotel.

Very pleased with service and rooms. People at reception were very helpfull. Rooms are clean and comfortable.
Good for people traveling with own car, but wanting to visit Rome using public transport.
When going to train station, we recommend driving an parking next to the station - it will save you from long climb back to hotel!

Mario the host was excellent-he unfortunatley is the only one that speaks english-however his help was excellent. The only thing that let the place down was the Restaurant-once you were seated, you were forgotten. We found the waiter spent more time with the Italian speaking guests than us. The wine was great, but the food was................We spent 3 nights at the hotel-this was our first trip.

As a Latin teacher I have been to Rome on several occasions. During those occasions I have stayed at several hotels. However, though Villa Spada Hotel was about an hour commute outside the city center, IT WAS THE BEST HOTEL I'VE EVER STAYED IN WHILE IN ROME! The staff knew my name without me giving it to them, the restuarant staff was amazing! In fact, I would have eatten at the hotel then any other restaurant, as the food was good and the price for it resonable! If you want to escape the crowd in the city, STAY AT VILLA SPADA, also if you don't mind the commute. My girlfriend and I stayed there and it was perfect!.....................Das Hotel, Villa Spada, war so, so perfect!

Clean and simple hotel with very friendly staff. The hotel is in the suburbs so car is, according to me, indispensable. With car it is 10-15 minutes to the central parking close to piazza di spagna, it's perfect if you want to save money on the hotel and do not mind driving a bit. Without car I guess it can take ages, and some areas are not so nice to walk into at night, I would not recommend it to back packers. Of course the surroundings are not particularly fascinating, the hotel is in the suburbian area of villa spada, not so bad, though, because located on a hill. Breakfast is good and consistent. It is possible to eat at night in the restaurant downstairs, fair prices, quite good quality.

The showers were very small and ones with shower doors were hard to get in and out of the small entrance. Some of the shower heads need to be cleaned or replaced. The double beds are really 2 twins together which results in a hump in the middle of the bed, which can be uncomfortable. The staff went out of their way to help us with our luggage and letting us use their computer to access the internet when needed. Some of the rooms were noisy. Overall the stay was very nice. The staff were very nice ad always helpful with restaurants and directions.

The hotel staff was very friendly and
helpful; however, the hotel was initially quite difficult to find. The hotel
itself was interesting and the food was
excellent. Our 3 person room was very large and
the bathroom was also large and pleasant.

Location is as described, it takes about 15 min. to reach the train station (downhill) and another 45min to go to rome termini (central station, ticket only 1,-EUR/person) by train. You can also take the bus (every 30 min on weekdays, ask hotel staff for timetable on weekends!). If you don´t mind traveling for 1h, the location isn´t bad.
The rooms are quite clean but definitely need renovation (plaster is flaking and only holded by the wallpaper). Bathroom is extremly small, the shower curtain will allways stick on your skin. Bed & mattress is ok, air condition works well.
Staff is realy friendly & helpfull. They picked us up at train station free of charge.
Restaurant is good at acceptable prices (dinner for two around 40,-EUR), a lot of native italians have been there and celebrated a wedding.
Breakfast is "italian style",that means just coffee/tee, coissant and some kind of cake; that it.
90 EUR is quite cheap for Rome. You get what you pay for. Not less but not more.
It´s an acceptable quality/price ratio, but definitely not a bargain.
Additional hint:
There is practical no left-luggage room at rome termini (central station). It took about 2,5h !! to deposit the luggage due to "security reasons" (my impression: bad organisation, only one counter open, only one guy working (quite slow) but several other employees just standing around and talking...) and another one hour to get it back. If you book your return flight in the afternoon, be prepared to spend your last day in rome with all your luggage with you!

Good bargain. About 10 km out of town, so you need a vehicle. Showers were very small, and one of the rooms had a shower with only a curtain, no way to stop water from flowing all over the bathroom floor...just a drain in the floor with a curtain around it.
Overall, satisfied because it was clean and safe and I saved a lot of money by staying here.

Good location - if you are with a car, it is easy to find and there is no necessity to cross Rome - the access from Highway is easy and there is large parking place.
By train /400m to the Railway station/ you are at Rome for 20-30 minutes. Ask for tickets at the reception!
But the best of this hotel is the staff - friendly, competent, good English, willingness to help - it was a pleasure to stay there.
And the least but not last - perfect price.
For all negative opinions - next time pay 3 to 5 times more for hotels located in the center of Rome, and the only chance to park you car will be the roof of the building...

The service was excellent and people really friendly and helpful. The room was ok and quiet.
Location: In the future, please mention the name of the nearest train station, we were a bit surprised that the hotel was so far from the centre.
Also from Fidene station it was not easy to find the way to the hotel.

Everything was GOOD to EXELLENT
except two things:
1)travelling time from the centre and travelling directions were misleading
2) no breakfast options - just sweet croissants and coffee (would be great to have at least some juice, plain bread/bun, butter/cheese)- but this is common to all italian hotels of similar rating

Villa Spada is a great place to stay if you have a car or love trains. It takes THREE of them to get anywhere central. It's not 400 metres from the station it's a good ten minute hike uphill. And it's nowhere near the Via Veneto. However, once you manage to get there, the price is extremely good, and the hotel is very clean and comfortable. And they have their own dining room which I suggest you use if you want to avoid a taxi back at night that costs anywhere from 15 to 25 euros. I changed hotels after 2 days to somewhere more central which, though a lot more expensive and not of noticeably improved quality, had a central location that helped me avoid a lot of further hassle.
