A short walk from Termini - great location if you're arriving and/or leaving Rome via train.
Easy to get to the center of the city - 30 minutes by foot straight down Via Nazionale (with lots of shops along the way) or 10-15 minutes on one of several public bus lines with stops close to the hotel.
Staff were very friendly. I mistakenly booked an extra night and informed them after the cancellation cut-off time. Nonetheless, the hotel staff was courteous and canceled my extra night without charging me.
Rooms were somewhat small, but clean and well appointed. Bathrooms were nice and large. Individual, in-room control of air conditioning was a bonus.
Breakfast was ok but definitely not great.
If you book a double and don't specifically request a king-size bed at check-in, you'll likely end up in a room with two twin beds pressed together.

Very comfortable and cosy hotel, super convenient, staff are polite and helpful, so close to the station. There is a Chinese restaurant very close to this hotel, beware, do not go there, the food is terrible!!!

We e-mailed twice before arriving & both were answered promptly. Service was good, breakfast was excellent however the triple room was a double plus a folded out chair which left little space in the room (typical european triple room configuration)

I was worried what that the hotel would be like when I arrived as websites and companies dont always post a true reflection but I was extremely happy to see everything was what I was expecting. Very friendly staff and helpful in assisting us on to how to make the most of our three days there. They gave us lots of information on how to get around Rome, maps, ordering taxi's etc. I am so happy I chose the right place as it was for my partner's 30th and couldnt have hoped for a better weekend. I highly recommend this Hotel and the booking agent Venere! There were no hidden extras and despite people saying the hotel was noisy we had absolute peace and quiet. Very good location and everything within walking distance. Drinks in the hotel are expensive but they have lovely staff, beautiful reception area/lounge to enjoy your drinks in which make it quite cosy. One thing I advise is wear proper walking shoes on your trip as there is loads to see and I was very disappointed with the Piazza Navona, stick to the non commercial traditional Italian restaurants if you are looking for quality food and reasonable prices as we were stung thinking high prices meant quality. I will definitely be using Venere again to book with and the Metropole Hotel as I am coming back to Rome in September for my birthday!

The Hotel is SUPERB, It is very close to Termini Station (Trains), and many Roman Piazzas, Monuments, Museums, and Top Rome Attractions, Are in the vicinity. The Breakfast starts early at 06.30 am which is very abbundant and everything was very fresh! Room was spacious and very comfortable. I would deffinately recommend this hotel and sure to stay there again.

A wonderful stay in Rome but more importantly in this Hotel. My colleague is going there next month for his honeymoon and I have given him nothing but glowing reports on your fine hotel. Thanks for a great stay to all the staff at the Metropole.

The hotel rooms were better than expected. They were clean and spacious including the bathroom, which in many hotels we have stayed in have been petite. The number of lifts and their speed were sufficient for the number of guests and the wait for a lift was rarely more than a few seconds. The breakfast facilities were good and on the one day when the breakfast area became overcrowded, the staff opened the restaurant also to make more tables available. The breakfast was more substatial than the typical cereal and pastry breakfast but also included fresh hot items. The staff were always helpful and all, including the bar staff, spoke english. Most continental hotels we have stayed in do not have in room coffee/tea making facilities. The Metropole had this available, with all items used replenished the next day. Sadly no milk. Although not one of the cheapest hotels in the area, we would recommend the hotel. The only downside and this is being picky in the extreme was that the view from the bedroom window overlooked the fire escape. But as we were out of the room for most of the day this is a view we rarely saw. Also the hotel is no more than 5 minutes from the metro and a multitude of tour buses. However as most of tourist Rome is in walking distance from the hotel, we only used the metro to go to the vatican.

This hotel was fantastic and we would absolutely return to this hotel the next time we're in Rome. They also upgraded our room so we had a huge suite on 2 floors. We're not sure why what happened but thought it might be because our other Rome hotel (we had booked through Venere for another trip) overbooked and sent us to another hotel (Hotel Quirinale, which was pretty good but nothing like this one). Everything inside the hotel is modern and clean. Breakfast is convenient with a large assortment in a large dining room.

The Metropole is very well located 3-4 blocks from the Termini train station (easy walk) and is ideal if you are travelling by train. Although not close to the sites/shopping getting around by metro, using a metro day pass (3Euro)is very easy and quick. The metro is located near the train station. The various tour companies offering day trips/tours are located within walking distance, but they also do pick ups at the hotel. The buffet breakfast was plentiful and included scrambled eggs and the service excellent by all staff EXCEPT the front desk staff. The front desk staff was the least polite, hospitalble, approachable or helpful we have ever encountered on business or leisure travel. The exception would be for the very helpful and kind young man who checked us out at 5am on Sept 23, 2007.

The hotel is excellent considering the price I paid for. Room was immaculately clean, beautiful and excessively equipped with amenities. The location in the Termini area, although not as up-market as the hotel itself, was convenient which made my stay pleasant and very comfortable. It is highly recommended for its high qualitly standards and beautiful rooms.

Very convenient to train station, and within walking distance of Roman ruins(Colossium, etc).
Also, good restaurants nearby. Took a taxi to Vatican and back. Didn't ride other transportaion, after we met a tourist that had his camera stolen in a crowded bus. Overall, nice visist to Rome.

We wanted a hotel that was close to the Railway and bus station in Rome, the Starhotel is certainly that be no more than a 5 minute walk. We stayed in Rome for 3 nights which gave us plenty of time to visit the major sights with our 8 year old daughter. More time would be needed to have a proper look around as there is just so much to see in this lovely city.

A pleasant surprise, this hotel is way better than the other 4 star hotel that I used in the same area of Rome. If you want a quality room at a reasonable price with easy access to transport, this is it.

I really enjoyed staying in this hotel for two days. I did not have any complaint about the room. It was very clean, modern, facilitated and quiet. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was in a wide variety and the taste was good enough. The hotel is located just three minutes from the Termini and I believe taht I could not have booked more convenient one. Highly recommended.

The Hotel was excellent, breakfasts were great and it was right in the centre of everything.
The room was rather hot, even with the heating off and windows open.
My only complaint was the Internet down stairs was very overpriced and the staff were not very helpful when asked to help out with same. It was easier to go to the Internet Cafe down the street.

Hotel suitable for anyone on a budget but seeking to stay in a quality hotel. Hotel is a few minutes away from Termini which is the main station for trains and buses (including those to and from airport). This is particularly useful for any first time visitors to Rome and what helped us in deciding to book this hotel.
The hotel is also situated close to a tourline operators - 2 minute walk which is useful for those seeking to take advantage of organised tours. There are hotels closer to some of the main attractions but public transport system is so good here that being located to the Termini is ideal to get you to all the attractions.
Would recommend this hotel, newly refurbished & modern, suitable for all clients & lifts available. Breakfast was excellent offering a full range from continental breakfast to fully cooked breakfast. Hotel staff were excellent and very helpful. Public areas within the hotel spacious, bar was opened in the evening also. Would recommend the hotel and would opt to stay there again.

I have been to Rome 3 times in 3 years and this is by far the best hotel, and great location close to Termini (5 minutes walking). I would definitely stay there again. The only problem was the price quoted by venere was $345 euros and when I checked out at 4am it was $405 euros, so make sure about pricing when you check in.

Very good and modern hotel (easily a 4 star by Australian standards) within easy walking distance of Termini (main rail station) and a lot of the sites. We walked to all main sites from hotel without too much effort, but subway is close by if walking is a problem. Great breakfast for a Rome hotel, and friendly and helpful staff. Rooms spacious and modern, although we were upgraded to an executive room so can't speak for standard rooms.

Very good hotel, did not know what toexpect as I had not visited the area before but was very pleased that we chose the hotel we did. For Rome which is an expensive place to stay this was a very reasonably priced hotel and was good value for the money.

A superior value in a tourist class hotel near Termini station. Couldn't ask for more. It made or stay in Rome that much more enjoyable. Great location. On the good side of termini. Close by but far enough away that it was not noticed.By all means stay here! Staff was competent. Great bed. Two flat panel TV's, one in the bath room.

5 minute walk from the Termini. Not too hard to find (but not real easy either). Breakfast from 7AM was the best in Italy I had. 4 types of juices OJ/pineapple/grapefruit/ ? type. Salami, bologne, cheese, bread all types, fresh fruit - peaches, eggs scrambled, bacon, sausage, cereal, yogurt, pastries. coffee, tea. Accomodations - about what you would expect for a 4 star hotel

Very good location , 5 min walking to Termini Railway station, 15-20 min to piazza Venezia! Try to avoid rooms on the inner ring, as they are a bit noisy due to the hotel air con unit. Also, the room entry system is faulty, we had to change the room once arrived. Besides that, cleaning is optimal, general service OK.

This is a business or tourist hotel; large and impersonal. However, despite all that it's at a very convenient location, 3 blocks from Termini. Any kind of request was instantly and cheerfully responded to. N.B. There was very limited clothing storage capacity in the room. Breakfast was fair.

Not a bad hotel - fairly typical large hotel atmosphere - mainly business and conferences. Just round the corner from Piazza Republica which is handy for the metro - a half hour walk from the main sights - Spanish Steps, Collosseum etc.

We arrive late in th eevening and the hotel was in a very good location and easy to find. In five minutes they aranged for us a sight-seeing night tour just at the hotel entrance. The room was great, except one morning workers were there making noise since early time, ask for a room which has not such an inconvinience. Ask also for a room to the interior patio. The breakfast was good and the waiters very kind with us. Everything was extremely clean every day and tha asistance on the phone quite quick one we needed it.
If I had to go to Rome I´ll go to the same hotel.

My wife and I stayed 5 days and were given a free upgrade to a junior suite which was spacious, clean and very quiet. The reception was very helpful and the room service very good. Breakfast was very good except for the American coffee which was terrible. Ask for the cappochino (?) instead !
The hotel, close to the Termini Station, is very well situated for exploring Rome or travelling further afield. The price was reasonable. We would not hesistate in staying here again.

I would certainly go back to this hotel again on my next visit to Rome. We were upgraded to a De luxe room, which was modern, clean and very well decorated. A memory foam mattress on the huge bed and you could even choose from three types of pillow! The bathroom was perfect, everything spotlessley clean, hairdryer, all the usual freebie soaps etc and even a TV in the bathroom!
Breakfast was great, loads to choose from and the coffee was very good.
The location is great, close enough to the station so that you're not walking halfway accross Rome with your suitcases. I will book at this hotel again.

Nice hotel in a great location. Close to all the sights and some great restraunts and bars.
Staff were very helpful and curteous. The bar is the worst part as its in the communal area and so isnt very intimate. The breakfast was adequate but certainly not outstanding.
I'd stay there again when in Rome, as the price reflected the quality.
The lifts are being re-furbished so prepare for a wait or take the stairs !
