The staff was very nice. When we arrived tired at the end of a long, busy day we had just a little glitch in figuring out where the hotel was. We didn't see the buzzer system to let you into the courtyard. When we finally figured things out, the apologetic gentleman at the reception desk came downstairs and out to the curb to help with the luggage and was very kind in helping us get settled.
Later, when we were looking for a corkscrew with his help again, we somehow ended up with a complimentary bottle of their house wine handed to us by the owner of the hotel. Breakfast, included in the cost, was fine even though the breakfast room was a little cramped and full. It may have just been a popular time to be there.
The hotel's address is on a busy street, but it actually is quiet because there is a buffer of offices or another hotel and an enclosed courtyard between the hotel and the street.

My husband and I found the hotel central to everything and our room was clean. The staff were very friendly and hospitable since our arrival and helped us out with whatever we needed even opened up the breakfast room for us at 6.30am as we had to go on a bus tour at 7am! We highly recommend this hotel to anyone and we would probably stay there again if we go back to rome!

Very nice hotel close to Termini train station. On a busy street in Republica district but the hotel building is offset from the street and once inside, quiet and comfortable. Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was plenty big and clean. Definitely recommend.

I had a great room, gaining the benefit of an upgrade to a large room with a big bed. They had taken into account my request for a bigger bed, which is very positive.
The hotel rooms are also at the back of the building off the main road so reasonably quiet. Really good in noisy Rome.

This newly renovated little gem of a hotel is a great place to stay because of its location within walking distance of Roma Termini train station and the main tourist attractions (except perhaps St Peters and the Vatican)
Like many small hotels in Italy, this one is on the 1st floor of an old Palazzo, with wide marble stairs leading from the foyer on the ground floor. There is a small lift, but it isn't always reliable. The staff are extremely helpful, with good command of English. They will look after your bags after checkout, if you are waiting for a late flight or train.
Rooms are modern and freshly decorated: our room had a single bed as well as a double, so there was lots of room. Bathrooms very clean with thick towels.
Noise was minimal as windows were double glazed. Via Nationale, on which the hotel is located, is a busy main road with lots of clothing shops, bars and restaurants, and there is an internet shop almost opposite (just down from the Irish Pub!)
Altogether, fantastic value for a short or a long stay.

Great location. Rome is expensive - as is all of Europe, so expect to pay for something reasonable. This hotel was great for the price compared to others in Rome. Very clean room and friendly staff. Breakfast was really good and plenty there.

Rooms are small but spotless. Location near train and bus was very helpful. The staff were friendly. Had good suggestions for getting around, places to eat etc. I had trouble with lost luggage on arrival and they were so helpful phoning the airport for me several times to try and get my luggage delivered.

If you want a really centraly located and yet quiet stay in the heart of Rome at a high quality mid standard hotel Gea di Vulcano should be your choice. Should you happen to speak Italian well enough to cope with everyday language the staff has the patience to speek with you in Italian as well, and thus you are assured a perfect price/quality stay in Rome. This does not mean that you will not do well with just English as well. Very attentive staff and the hotel is charming in every ditail. I would recommend a stay here to everyone. Taken into account that my single room felt spacious I would say for both shorter and longer periods. Enjoy your stay.

The Hotel Gea di Vulcano is very near to the sights and not far away from the termini station (10min walk). The staff is very nice and our room was quite large. The breakfast was standard (toast, butter, jam) but a very good coffee. All in all I can recommend this hotel.

LOVELY BIG ROOM, AND VERY FRIENDLY, HELPFUL STAFF. TERRIFFIC LOCATION, SET BACK A LITTLE FROM THE BUSY ROAD, SO IT WASN'T TOO NOISY.
ALL THE SIGHTS WERE VERY EASY TO REACH FROM THE HOTEL. VERY NICE BREAKFAST. ONLY DOWNSIDE WAS THE BATHROOM WAS HUGE, BUT COULD HAVE DONE WITH A LITTLE UPDATING. STILL VERY CLEAN AND FUNCTIONAL THOUGH.
WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL.

I went to Rome with my daughter as a treat on our birthday. Before my arrival I was a little concerned about the choice through the internet. It could have been a total disappointment, but I was very impressed with the Hotel Gea di Volcano. It is a small hotel, hidden treasure, located on an enclosed entrance on a main road with a wide options of transport and it is also near the Stazione Centrale Roma Termini which provides easy access to the main historic sites of the city. The neighbourhood is safe at any time of the day/night with excellent shops and restaurants on the surroundings. The room was spacious, quiet, comfortable and very clean. The management and staff were very helpful and polite. We have spent 4 days in Rome and we were very pleased to find a Hotel like Gea di Volcano to stay. I highly it recommend to anyone that enjoy feeling relaxed outside home.

Everything perfect, much better that expected: a perfect location, nice people, quiet and cosy. I'd really recommend this hotel to everyone. Only thingthat is minor but a bit annoying: our room (23) had a bathroom without heating and generally speaking the bathroom was a bit disappointing (faucet especially...old as this world). Ah, las but not least the lady that was serving breakfast was really kind but the quality of coffee was more that awful. These two things apart, i really enjoyed this hotel and i would choose it once again when in Rome. Good luck!

We spent in Rome four lovely days. Location of hotel is excellent, very close to colosseum and in very heart of the city. Room was big enough for two adults and almost-adult son. Room was clean and quiet - little disturbance only was due to renovation inside of the hotel, but nothing really annoing. Personel of the hotel was really friendly and helpful. Definitely I can recommend this place to anybody who want to spend nice weekend or holidays in Rome for not-so-high price.

Just returned from 5 nights at the Hotel Gea di Vulcano. Could not recommend this hotel enough. It really is an excellent find. Staff were so welcoming and helpful throughout, rooms very clean, Loved the power shower! Only thing that could improve this hotel is to have tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms. Otherewise its a treasure.

A short walk from the main railway station, but the hotel was far nicer than that might make it sound! Small and not the easiest to find on a rainy night, but the welcome was great, the staff very helpful. You'll see grander hotels than this, and the prices will be grander, but the here the rooms were simple, clean and well good enough if you are in Rome to sight-see and not for an anonymous luxury hotel break. Close enough to walk to many of the sights. Recommended.

The staff was very helpful and welcoming. It was located near a bus stop and the termini. There was a resturant right outside the building that had great pizza and pastries. We did not have a chance to to the breakfast at the hotel because our tours were very early and we were out by 7 am before it started. the hours for the breakfast are really for someone who is not on tours but just site seeing. The lift(elavator) was out of service when we go there, but the staff carried our bags up the 2 flights of stairs. The only issue was that the toilet could be heard being flushed in the next room, other than that, it was a good location and with a great price. Staff was a great help in providing information about the area and a great map.

The hotel was adequate, good location to metro, friendly staff, spacious rooms, clean/crisp/white linens. The bed was HUGE! So was the room, and the bathroom was big, too. The breakfast was generous (but with bad coffee). NEGATIVES - the carpet was disgusting -- needed replaced badly. The TV wouldn't turn off unless unplugged. The water was cold for two of our showers (and in November, that's not fun).

If you are looking for a quaint, smaller hotel, with that Bed and Breakfast feel and personalized service in a nice section of Rome, Hotel Gea is for you. We were warmly met with some of the best cappuchino in Italy and tasty continental breakfast upon our early arrival while our room was being prepared for us to check in. This set the tone for our pleasant stay in this unique, and cozy hotel.

Our room and stay at this hotel was fantastic. We love this place. I would suggest this place to anyone. The staff was great! The location could not have been better. Nice quiet, big room. Everything was wonderful. This was my first time to Rome and I chose this place due to the rating on Tripadvisor and its comments. I was directed to Venere.com which was great in booking the hotel. The breakfast in the morning is great too. We unfortunately waited till the last day to have it there. Don't miss out. This place really was perfect for us.

We enjoyed our 3 nights at Hotel Gea di Vulcano. We arrived from the airport at 5.30am and had initial difficulty accessing the hotel foyer. However, once inside, the staff were very helpful and very accommodating. The hotel is located in a central position and we walked to all the major tourist attractions. The noise from the external road was typical of a central Rome street, however we slept comfortably. I recommend this hotel and would return.

Excellent base for sightseeing. Easy walk with medium sized rolling luggage from Termini. Don't be afraid to use the metro. Quick and easy transportation around the city, and minutes from the Gea. Room was very clean, large, but a bit noisy as we overlooked the center alley. Excellent value for the $$. Helpful staff.

Hotel was a terrific value for the price paid. Rome hotels are very pricey. Hotel Gea was quiet, clean, ample breakfast, and friendly staff.
Last visit to Rome, we stayed at the Westin Excelsior, and ya know?---I actually like Hotel Gea better. (Excelsior is pretty, but generic--and even a cup of cafe costs a fortune.) Will definitely stay at Gea again when we next visit Rome.

Although we only stayed one night, we found the Hotel Gea to be totally satisfactory and at a very reasonable price. It was a quaint older hotel with an old fashioned lift! We enjoyed opening the window shutters in our room and sitting in the window seat peoplewatching. The room (#27) was exceptionally clean and met all our needs. We had a private bathroom with a shower. As we found with all our accommodations in Italy, there were no washcloths, so I was glad that I had brought a few small ones of my own from home. There was also a minibar in the room. The location was very good for walking to the Colosseum and Roman Forum. We found a very nice restaurant (Trattoria da Tito, Via Venezia, 21) close to the hotel, which was one best meals we had during our trip. From previous comments, we were aware of the main entrance being closed after dark, so we knew to look for the side entrance when we returned after dinner. As we were leaving early the next morning, we did not bother with arranging an early hotel breakfast. Instead, we went to the small café located right under the Gea and had a great café macchiato and sweet roll. The hotel staff was very friendly and answered all questions we had. We would definitely return to this hotel when visiting Rome.

The rooms at Hotel Gea were very clean and comfortable and considering its location it was very quiet. The hotel itself is very centrally located and was literally a 10 minute walk from the Termini Station. The staff were pleasant and helpful and we would stay there again.

The hotel was located on a very busy street, but it was set back far enough to not be aware of how busy Via Nationale really is. Our room faced a side street and the noise level was uncomfortable for us. Overall the hotel is nice but I would not rate our stay as excellant.

I would recommend the Hotel Gea to anyone. It's a nice, clean, reasonably-priced little place that is close to many of the sights in Rome or has easy access to those places via Metro. It had a big, new bathroom that was impeccably clean. For the most part, it was quiet despite its location. The only thing that was a little different is that the hotel occupies one floor of a multi-floor building. The hotel door is locked after 7:00pm, so you have to buzz up to the desk clerk to let you in. I liked their breakfast, which was a little more than the usual bread, croissant and jam. I would definitely stay again.

I travel by public transport when in Italy, and this Hotel is ideally suited to that mode of travel. Close enough to either the metro or the main station to make arriving and departing stress-free. My room was spotlessly clean and spaceous and being away from the street, beautifully tranquil. Service is excellent, regardless of who is on Reception. I had a good three days in Rome, and the Gea helped to add to the experience.

i only stayed there my last night in rome- had been in sicily for a week, followed by a week's tour group around rome, venice and florence. the extra day in rome went really well. this is a small hotel inside old building, but not without its own bit of charm. the big wooden front door in front opens into a public area for the building, and you have to get through a second gate to get to the nicely decorated water fountain and goldfish they have out front. you then have to go up a couple steps into the stone hallway where you take an ancient+tiny elevator lift up to the 3rd floor where the hotel entrance is really located. the hotel also has a side entrance on the perpendicular street, and from there you can also take an elevator lift after you buzz in. room was simple but very comfortable. mine was the single so it was long and skinny and came with a long skinny hallway, but came with queen size bed, tv on the ceiling corner, table, luggage holder and practical bathroom. everything worked fine. i wasn't looking for anything fancy and very much appreciated the little bit of charm that came with the decor and ambience. location was the best- turn left you get to piazza republicca in less than 5 min, turn right you can get to the palatine hills and the ruins in about min. breakfast was okay- coffee was from an espresso machine but there's somebody there for some part-service, toast and tart was pretty good though not fancy and not homemade. lots of food around too, though nazionale was definitely more touristy than some of the other streets around. church across the street had a good orchestral performance i wish i'd gone to. went across the street to the internet cafe for internet (2E for 30 min). felt very safe even after dark, but i didn't stay out after 9:30.

We enjoyed our stay at the Gea Hotel. The room was clean and had air conditioning. The staff were friendly and helpful(on the morning of our departure,we had to catch our train very early-they opened the breakfast area for us earlier than normal!much appreciated!).Also its in a great location on Via Nazionale-10 min walk to Termini station, shops nearby(especially Despar convenience store),restaurants, cafes etc.
To reach the hotel, you go through a court yard and up a flight of stairs to the first floor. After 7pm the court yard is locked and you gain access to the hotel via an entrance by the side of the building where you buzz reception to gain access. We enjoyed breakfast too-quite a varied selection to choose from.If we were to return to Rome,we would quite happily return to Hotel Gea.
