This hotel is super expensive and they don't even give you a cup of coffee for breakfast. The 3 star hotels in Florence and Venice even came with a good breakfast included with the room. Everything is motivated by money here where you're only a block from the seedy train station area which is a concern if you're traveling with children. Although the hotel is beautiful, it is not the warmest or friendliest place to stay in Italy. Employees go through the motions but seem like they really couldn't care less about their customers, maybe they have too many? If you have over $400.00 a night for lodging, this is the place for you. If not, seek out a hotel where they appreciate their customers.

We had a beautiful room overlooking the plaza. We arrived very early and the hotel was very good at getting our room ready and alowing us to chek in four hours early. The service was good but none of the employees went out of their way to help us. As far as service goes I think the Baglioni group has Boscolo beat. Everyting about our stay here was perfect except for the service. Being a five star hotel I expected a little more from the staff. Overall I would have to say that after a long day of walking around Rome, exedra was a great place to come back to.

My gf and i had an enchanting stay at the Exedra...It is a little over the top pricey but it made up for it in sheer elegance. We enjoyed a quiet romantic dinner in the in-house restaurant where the waiter was very accomodating. The location right next to the train station makes it a very convenient stop for the luxury rail traveler. If you are looking for a hotel that is centrally located, close to all major transportaion systems, and will make you feel like you're staying in a Palace (it actually was a Palace), then the Exedra is for you!

The hotel is beautiful and so are the surroundings. Only 5 minutes from the Coliseum. The staff was somehwat rude and did not seem to want to help (even though I was in a Suite for several days) they even tried to charge me a higher price for their taxi but I overheard them and explained to them that I spoke Italian and heard every word they just said. So overall, nice area nice hotel just not so nice staff.

This hotel is beautiful and very comfortable. It is convenient to the main train station, making it especially nice. I would strongly recommend this hotel and this chain of hotels, as well. We also stayed in this company's hotel in Florence and were equally impressed.

Competent staff, beautiful rooms, excellent location -- the Excedra definited my expectations for five star hotels. It wasn't as personable as a small hotel (such as the Hotel Santa Catarina on the Amalfi coast) and breakfast wasn't included with my stay (surprising) but after a day of romping around in Rome it was a pleasant sanctuary.

This hotel would have to be the most luxurious I have stayed in. The room was huge, quiet and tastefully decorated , and a real pleasure to arrive to after our 30 hour journey from NZ. Staff were excellent. The location brilliant. My only quibble is that for the price I would have thought breakfast could have been included - that would have made the stay here perfect !

Size of and amenities in rooms were far above average for a European hotel..pleasantly surprized at its location near to the Metro line. Just wish the Diocletian baths (across the street) were not closed for renovations. Staff was conscientious at remembering names and room numbers; concierge desk extremely polite and helpful with questions. Senestra restaurant on roof was quite expensive, but service, atmosphere and food were worth it!!

Beautiful hotel, well-situated in the heart of Rome near the train station. Quite luxurious at the pricing. My one (but quite serious) complaint is regarding room service. We had a late night and decided to eat in the room on our last night in Europe. We placed our order for two dinners. It took about an hour for the order to arrive, and then one of the dinners was missing. We called back, and it took about another hour for the other dinner to arrive. Both were EXTREMELY salty and, honestly, tasted awful. It was also an extremely expensive meal, which, for the most part, consisted of only bread for us because of how poor the quality was. We commented that we honestly wished we'd saved close to $100 by just eating in the McDonalds next door, which is something we never thought we'd say during a stay in Europe. So, DON'T ORDER ROOM SERVICE, but, by all means, stay at this beautiful hotel.

I will make this review brief and straight to the point...The quality of service relative to the price of this hotel, or relative to ANY decent hotel around the world is among the worst we have ever experienced. Upon arrival, we were greeted and checked in prompty...this was the only good part of our stay. The bellman didn't even bother to take 30 seconds to familiarize us with the room, or hotel services. The dinner we ordered at about 11pm remained in the room until about 7pm the folling day when we had to call the reception to have it taken out along with the dining table. Aparently the housekeepers thought that leaving several dirty plates with half eaten food remaining, used napkins, and glasses in the middle of our room would somehow be fine by us. The restaurants offer the most unattentive and oblivious service I have ever experienced, turning what should be a 30-45 minutes breakfast or lunch into a half-day affair by the time you wait an average of 15-20 minute intervals to be greeted by a waitress, offered a drink, have your table cleared, maybe have an espresso, and finally wait for the outrageously over priced check, ( as is everthing else in this hotel). The perfect compliment was upon check out when the bellman actually stood and watched from the street level as we struggled to carry our luggage down the concrete steps from the lobby to our taxi, (Of course we weren't asked if we would be needing a bellman in the room to help with our things). In short, the staff at this hotel makes it very clear from the moment you arrive that they are unwilling to be even the least bit accomodating to the basic needs of their guests. It is also important to note that we are well experienced travelers, as well as very easy going, down-to-earth, multi-lingual, cultural individuals. We point this out as to avoid giving the impression that we may be uptight, or demanding and therefore biased in our views. There are many beautiful hotels in Rome, there is no need to be utt

As the staff were aware during our stay we were very happy with everything bar one incident which unfortuanately affected our impression. Having requested a cot for my 8month son in our internet booking, confirmed the morning before arrival on the phone and at check in it took until 12:30am to admit that there was not one available. Instead of admitting this in the first place we were knowingly given a potentialy dangerous cot that was broken which I fortunately did not place my child in but which he could easily have dismantled if he leaned on the side.(revealing screws that were not properly fitted) The staff in the morning were very good but the service from housekeeping was apalling and I feel a hotel of such quality should be able to provide a much better level of quality control. The potential for liable if something had happened to my or any other child would be worth the investment in some good and safe cots for guests with young children. As a result I will be very reluctant to stay in your hotel with my son again and will not recommend it although I spend a lot of time in Rome on route to visiting family, from feeling incredibly privilaged on arrival both my mother and myself felt seriously agreived by the cot incident.

Some of the facilities I was looking forward to were not on offer i.e. the roof terrace and pool, presumably as it was regarded too early in the season (April). My room was small with poor view and not particularly spacious or special. Breakfast was poor and very expensive. I was generally quite disappointed in what I got relative to what I paid.

We found this a wondeful hotel, it lived up to our expectations from the description on the web page. Tastefully decorated room with every luxury including 7 foot bed. Good value for Rome, where previous experience has found hotels to be expensive and of poor quality. Only complaint was that broken light was not fixed, even though we asked twice, so room was a bit dark. Everything else was perfect. If you want to be able to see anything other than a 6 foot high solid balcony wall 3 feet from your window do not take a room in the new part. Rooms were very atmospheric and so we were not bothered by the lack of any sort of view.

The hotel was in a very good position. The room we were allocated had a view out the back over the carpark. The impression I had from the website was that all the rooms had views over the front and were more spacious than the average 5 star hotel - my first impression on walking in was that the room was the same as any other which was disappointing as my expectations had been raised. My final comment is that we weren't made to feel 'special' in any way which whilst it wasn't poor service it wasn't great service.

I am not shure that I had seen photos of the rooms, but maybe I am wrong. Definitly I would not have recognized the hotel from the photos of the outside. Never the less it can't be overlooked when you stand in front of it.

Exedra is a beautiful new hotel. The standard rooms are fairly small, while the deluxe rooms are very spacious; but all the rooms are beautifully furnished, very clean and very comfortable. Get a room on the 4th floor with the balcony and the view of the fountain - it is magic at night. The staff is new and needs some training, but overall we had a wonderful stay. I highly recommend this hotel.
