We had 2 rooms and the facilities were basic. The shower in the triple room was a handheld and not very satisfactory though the water pressure and temperatures were good. We had requested the triple to be a double bed and a single bed and that was not provided. The room we had was alongside the neon sign for the Commodore and teh curtains did not close property so the room was lit all night. Location to the train was good but the web map was misleading. The Hotel is very close to the Via Cavour and the breakfast room has a lovley view if a church nearby. Breakfast was plentiful and well presented.

This is not a 4 star hotel! Ridiculous, little black white TV set in the room. We booked a triple room. It was only a double with a sofabed, although the receptionist insisted it was a triple. The room was too little for three persons. No place for three luggages. Only one chair, occupied of day cover of the beds. The room needed to be freshed up.The ceiling was dirty of air pollution, and the windows were very dirty, too. And so the good sides: no noise problems, although very near Termini. Double doors and double windows in the room. The bed cloths were automatically changed every day, although not needed. Fairly good breakfast, also with fresh fruit, but bad juice. Only white bread, but the last morning were was suddenly rye bread, too.

I think that rooms and cleanliness and breakfast were excellent. Being non-white I had one tricky moment on the second day when an employee in the front desk asked if I was a guest as I was coming throughj the lobby. To be fair to him he had not seen me before but I also felt that he was probably a little biases. This occued around 9am on the second day. Other than that the satff were very couteous abd even this employee at the front desk became much more friendly once my identity as a guest had been established. I would highly recommend this hotel for its location, cleanliness and value.

I think the best description overall would be:a regular hotel with good location. We ( my wife and me ) walked to almost every important site. Good restaturants in the area. The Termini station is close but, with the streets in Rome, a bit, complicated to walk with luggage. The hotel is not bad but I think I would expect more for the money.

Great hotel. Location is terrific (5 minute walk from Termini; a stone's throw from Santa Maria Maggiore; and a 20 minute walk at most to the Colosseum. The room was clean; internet access was good; and breakfast was excellent. I'll stay there again the next time I'm in Rome.

Excellent hotel, if you are coming to Roma being near the Main train station is key to getting around town, all buses, the Metro etc end up at the Station. The Commodore is 4 block away which makes wheeling your suitcase very easy.
Excellent hotel, friendly and helpful staff, very few American tourists(mainly European businessmen). I will recommend this hotel to anyone going to Rome!

All properties in Rome are expensive relative to other locations so this was OK as far as value for money. Location was good being near the metro and the train station.
Breakfasts were excellent. These were the best breakfasts we had at any of our stays.
Problem with the small shower and water flowing out onto the floor but they provided lots of towels to mop this up so obviously an ongoing problem.

The hotel is middle to upper class. I was confused as to a double and triple room (all twin beds). The location was great. I could walk to the train station which could be closer than what they advertised, the coloseum is right down the street and I walked everywhere. Buses are available at stops along the streets. The free breakfast in the morning allowed me to get an early start of the day. My stay was vacation oriented and pleasant.

Our family stayed at hotel Commodore for one week. The hotel is located near the beautiful church Santa Maria Maggiore which we visited several times. The location is perfect for visiting the interesting sites in the center of Rome. The room was OK with some minor disappointments regarding the functioning of the air condition (hard to set up properly), the TV-set (small), the shower (small and no hand-set) and the beads (hard). However, the maintenance of the rooms were excellent, the breakfast good and the staff of the hotel was helpful as well as professional.

This is a very nice hotel quite close to Termini station but still quiet surroundings. There are several nice small restaurants very close. We both liked the hotel breakfasts that were included.
We would have appreciated to receive some tourist broschures at arrival since it is not always easy to get information.

The location was good for walking to the popular sites and restaurants. It was also very conveniently located to a train station. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was adequate for our needs in terms of space for a family of 4. While we usually expect more lush accommodations from a 4 star hotel, it was perfectly fine for a short stay and the cost. The staff made up for what the hotel itself lacked.

Three ladies travelled to Rome for 3 days/nights. The hotel was so easy to find and very close to the Termini Station. Very clean, quiet and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was usual buffet, fresh and plentiful. We were within easy walking distance of the wonderful Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, Colosseum. Hotel is bright across the road from the beautiful Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica - don't miss it. Also plenty of buses from the Station if required direct to the Vatican. Location was perfect and we had a brilliant time. Would highly recommend this hotel.

Although we stayed only one night in Rome, our accommodations at the Hotel Commodore were more than adequate for our purposes. We chose the hotel largely for its location but after staying there , we believe that we would stay there again on a longer visit. All went well and we were treated very well. The hotel also allowed us to make a last minute room change for which we were very grateful. The staff should be commended for their attentiveness to our concerns. Bravo Commodore!!

While the location is good the Hotel is old and in need of updating all around. Everything was old looking though clean enough. I've stayed on other hotel in the same location for the same price in much better conditions. Services was fair

I found the Hotel Commodore to be quite nice. During a 2 week stay in Italy I had occasion to stay one night each at 3 different Rome hotels, all in the Termini Station area, and the Commodore was the nicest of the bunch. Location is within walking distance of the station and is also only a block and a half from the beautiful Santa Maria Maggiore church which is definitely worth visiting. The room was spacious and attractively furnished however the bathroom was on the small side, especially the shower. Breakfast buffet was fairly generous and the breakfast room was nicely furnished with a garden theme. At 130 Euros for single use of a twin room the Commodore was the best value of the 3 hotels I stayed in while in Rome.

While the hotel is very close to the train station and other means of transportation, we found it to be not in the best of areas. The gentleman behind the desk at our arrival was less than courteous. However, the two others that we encountered later would extremely helpful and eager to please. The rooms were clean and very quiet and we were able to have a good night's rest. The wake up call was right on time as was the shuttle service to the airport that we had requested.

Hotel was very confortable, although maybe did not have some of the feature nowadays one expects from a 4 start hotel (e.g. broadband internet, cable TV, etc). The room was not very large but very confortable (as was the bed). Bathroom was of good size. Public areas were strikingly stylish. Overall I would recommend this hotel quite highly.

First time at Commodore. Its huge plus is central but not noisy location. The room quite adequate, with enjoyable balcony. Reception staff helpful, apart from surly night receptionist who should have been asleep.

As a first time user of Venere.com, I was quite satisfied with the experience. Since I travel as a crew member with an american airline where we are walked through the airports and picked up for transportation to the hotels, never having to do the booking myself, I the transition was quite easy.
For the Rome area, I found the Venere website easy to navigate. Showing the properties in the specific area I wanted to stay I found very helpful.
The Commodore property was very nice, wanting to stay near the same level of hotel my company provides, I elected for this 4 star rating since I had my family with me.
I booked a quad with bath and breakfast (normally provided at this level I believe). The room was quite large for European standards (smaller than I think a US property at this price). Quite a bit of room to layout our suitcases. A small chest of drawers to put our clothes into. Hanging closet area with 10 or so hangers, quite nice. Bath area very large, no shower curtain though, but with bath wand. Bath towels and such very nice. Room was cleaned each day back to spotless condition.
Staff was very nice, able to provide me with directions/recommendations. Common area was very comfortable, area for seating 10-12 people while the world cup matches were on.
Breakfast room very nice, with breakfast provided also very good. Scambled eggs, salami, ham, cheese, selection of breads and rolls, cereals, fruit(some canned), juice. Waite staff very good. Location was convienent to the termini(3 short blocks down from the front of the station, airport train track down on track 25, near SE area of station, a walk of about 2 blocks to the front! Which my wife noted) Overall stay was very nice, and would use this property again. Last nite in Rome was at the Ariston hotel nearby, which I will rate later.

We were travelling with our two children and asked for a room for four. They put us in a junior suite which was two small rooms combined into one. The bathroom had a hand held showerhead which was a disapointment. The location was very convenient to most sights and the train station. We old the when we reserved the room we were celebrating an annerversary. They had a bottle of champagne in the room the first night. Breakfast was excellent. Overall we were pleased but I would rate as a 3 star not a four star.

We had booked a triple room and upon arrival were pleasantly surprised when we were actually given a suite on the top floor which was very nice. Breakfast was quite decent for Italian standards and the only minor annoyance was the "hydraulic" noise made by the elevator that was very audible in our room.

This was a very nice hotel, but personally, I thought that it was overpriced for what it offered. The staff was mostly nice, except for a very grouchy and rude man by the name of Claudio. When I asked him to run my boyfriend's credit card to pay for the room, he asked very rudely, "Why? Don't you have your own credit card?" And I replied, yes, I do but this is a gift. He then proceeded to question me and refused to run the card. I also encountered an older lady the next day who refused to do the same, so I ended up paying for the hotel room myself, but they did not need to make things so difficult. I had also asked for my large suitcase to be kept downstairs, but when I needed it later, Claudio questioned me over and over again why it was put into storage. He made it very difficult for me to get my own bag when he should have just adhered to my simple request. The hotel itself was nice, but overpriced. The shower curtain did not stay shut and my mini bar had already been raided.

After 7 very hectic days in Italy, arriving at the Commodore for my last 3 days was heaven. I was welcomed and escorted to my room immediately and I was very, very happy with my room. My other hotel rooms were acceptable, also booked through Venere, but I decided to treat myself to a 4 star hotel for my last 3 days and I was not disappointed. It is a 5 minute walk from the train station and there were a lot of great restaurants and shops in the area. The breakfast selection they had was complete, not just a continental breakfast, served in a beautiful, large room with very good attention from the staff. They provided a wake-up call and transportation to the airport upon my departure. I would recommed this hotel highly to anyone who wants 4 star accomodation at 3 star prices.

We stayed at Commodore for just one night. I would not recommend this for an extended stay in Rome. IT is close to train terminal, however this is not a great area. The hotel is quite dated and the rooms were small. The best part was the breakfast. I would only stay here if you need access to train, but not for enjoying the sights of Rome.

We arrived early but the staff were very obliging and let us have a room immediately. The room was very good, and breakfasts excellent. The dining room overlooks the back of the Basilica Maria Maggiore. We were able to leave our luggage in the hotel on the last day and pick it up before we returned to the airport.

Got a smoking twin room instead of double. No non-smoking rooms in the hotel according to the manager, despite web site indicating availability. Shower was dreadful. Room faced onto noisy busy road - no double glazing. Staff abrupt. Overall, I would say this is a 3 star rather than 4 star hotel.

The room was nice and big and though it was a little old fashioned in style it was still a charming room and the air conditioning worked perfectly. The bathroom was lovely and spacious with lots of clean towels. The room we stayed in overlooked a carpark so it was fairly quiet at night. The breakfast had lots to chose from and was served in a lovely bright room. The staff were friendly and helpful at all times. The location of the hotel was perfect for sightseeing. It was only a 7-8 minute walk to termini & the metro so it was easy to access all the sights. I would stay in this hotel if I went back to Rome.

We would highly recommend Hotel Commodore. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The hotel staff was exceptional, especially Renato who gave us excellent directions and helped us use public transportation. Breakfast was wonderful with a variety of different foods to suit all tastes. We preferred this hotel to a more expensive 4 star hotel where we stayed on our return to Rome. A very affordable hotel, would definitely stay there again.

A well located hotel.
Nice staff and lovely rooms.
Great service.
Only criticism is that maybe coffee should be available in the bar, when we asked for coffee someone had to go to the dining room to make it.
If you are going to stay at the Commodore, book the airport transfer, as it nice to have someone waiting to collect you when you arrive, and not have to queue for a taxi.
I would certainly stay at the Commodore again.

I enjoyed my stay at the Commodore. The main reason that I decided to stay there was to be close to Termini train station which was 5 minutes walking distance (the hotel was 4 blocks west and half a block north of the station, directly north of Santa Maria Maggiore basilica). The accomodations were good. The room was small, roughly 150 square feet, and was air-conditioned. The bathroom had a bathtub with a handsprayer mounted at the side of the tub (showering was difficult). The hotel didn't have internet access. Breakfast was included with my room and it consisted of a choice of croissants, danishes, rolls, cold cuts, yogurt, cereal, fruit, juice and hard-boiled eggs, a little more than a continental breakfast. The staff was very nice and accomodating. All in all, I would definitely stay there again.
