I had never been to Rome before and once I got past the sticker price of hotels, searched for good value and decent location. In comparison we got just that. The ease of moving around Rome by bus and subway was due to the location of this clean and friendly hotel. Great value considering high cost of hotels in Rome. We found one little restaurant we enjoyed nearby after full days of seeing this wonderful city. Adequate breakfast with great cappucino on the rooftop terrace (no view but charming) and friendly professional staff added value to the stay.

This was our second visit to the Columbia and it disappoint. Excellent location and friendly, helpful staff. We walked to all of the major sites including Vatican City. Excellent breakfast taken on the roof terrace. Rooms are on the small side but have are very clean and have everything you need. I would highly recommend this hotel as it is so easy to get to and from the airport.

We stayed 5 nights in Rome. Had asked for a quiet room and the room itself was very quiet but we had noisy neighbours the first night and the walls were very thin. Overall we were delighted with the hotel and would certainly recommend it.

Great location close to the train station, metro, and bus routes. Besides that, really everything (Pantheon, Trevi fountain, Spanish Steps, Colosseum, Forum, etc.) was within walking distance if you want to walk. Easy Metro trip and short walk from there to Vatican City. Direct express train from the airport to the train station. Even though the price in US$ was high, it was still a good value given other options. Loved the roof top garden area, and breakfast was great, with good service as well.

A fantastic hotel in everyway, staff excellent and friendly rooms great - a lot of small details fully covered and little treats and suprises came our way. It was an oasis in a busy city. We are going back next year to both Rome and the Columbia. The Clientele were both young couples, families middle aged couples - profesional class and very good well mannered guests. We loved the roof bar were we had both aperitifs and night caps. Fantastic!

The location of the Hotel is super. Very close to Roma Termini Stazione and Metropolitana. We arrived 9 am and were instantly given a room - which was very convenient. Only later we found out that this was the smallest room in the hotel. The walls in the Columbia are very thin - you can hear almost everything. Service at reception and in breakfast room are very nice and friendly. Delicous breakfast buffet. Lovely breakfast room and roof terrace. We would stay there again - but ask for one of the larger rooms.

I visited Roma over the Easter weekend. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. It had a very nice LCD TV. The bathroom was exceptionally clean and spacious by European standards. It had plenty of towels, soaps etc. Free wireless internet too. Reception was very polite and helpful. It was located a couple blocks from the train station, which was what I was looking for. My room faced the back of the hotel and had no view, but that wasn't a concern for me. Very safe hotel. I would definitely stay here again

This was our first trip to Rome and we stayed at the Columbia for 3 days. Fantastic holiday and fantastic hotel. The Columbia is an excellent choice for anyone visiting Rome. Central - nowhere is too far away. Smart and very clean rooms. The breakfast room was a delight - lovely decor and lovely buffet breakfast, too. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would not think twice about returning should we ever visit Rome again.

I think the hotel probaly caters to average middle class Americans and people from all over the world. I found the hotel, surroundings and staff to be very enjoyable. I was a little disappointed at the size of our room considering the price. We could barely turn around in it. But it wasn't all that important, because we were only there to shower, dress, and sleep. The hotel was close to 2 metro stations & lots of restaurants and that was very important.

The hotel columbia was very neat and clean. The breakfast was good. The staff was very welcoming and helpful with travel hints, directions, and restaurant ideas. My husband is 6'7 and the room was big with high ceilings and he fit in the bed (not perfect, but pretty well). Showers are weird but are hot and clean. And the hotel is pretty affordable. It was very easy to get to historic sites and use the train station/subway/tour buses/walk to see everything we wanted to see from this hotel. If you don't like long walks...find another hotel.

Rooms were clean, terrace was beautiful, staff was outstanding! The staff were very attentive, remembered guests, always provided directions and maps with detail and went out of their way to ensure guests needs were met. I enjoyed my stay and would recommend this hotel while in Rome. It is located within walking distance of the major sites, and the subway is around the corner to take you to sites a bit further away (Vatican City and Borghese area).

Nice Hotel, English speaking friendly staff. Short walk to from train station, and close enough to walk into town. No complaints, we really enjoyed our stay. Our room rate of 168 made it the most expensive hotel we stayed in in Italy. And I don't think it did enough to command that rate. I assume all Hotels in Rome charge over the odds.

Our stay in Rome was for a well deserved vacation. Our general experience at Hotel Columbia was very good. The staff were very kind and accommodating to our needs and even facilitated communication on our behalf with a problem with a tour group company. The breakfast and roof top dining experience was excellent. My request for a non-smoking room was met, but a room with a view was not. Further, our room was next to the elevator and we could hear all the hotel guests coming and going. I feel the bed was rather hard and the price for a 3-star hotel was rather expensive.

on visit with my wife for 2 days in Rome, we found the location of the hotel, near the central railway station and metro, very convenient. It is a medium walking distance from the hotel to go for visiting the main areas of Rome. The room, in the back, was clean, nicely decorated, and quite. Only trouble was the noise from the shower next room, at 7:30 AM on sunday morning.

Service-oriented, English-speaking staff. Breakfast service had many good choices. You can have the choice of eating inside or at a lovely, peaceful rooftop table. Bathroom was surprisingly spacious after having been in quite a few tiny Italian bathrooms.

This small hotel was very welcoming and also very handy to Termini Railway Station. I was greeted by a staff member with excellent English and my room was quiet and comfortable. The breakfast area was delightful with an outside balcony on the top floor which gave a view over the surrounding area. The location was excellent for visiting numerous sites of interest in the area. The hotel was good value for the price paid.

We thought the Hotel was wonderfu. Great desk staff, great rooftop bar/breakfast area. Convenient location. I am puzzled by some saying the location is in a difficult area, as it seemed very fine to us with children. Our experience was great, especially with the the 2 room suite. thanks

We had a delightful stay at the Columbia. As a family of four with two teenage girls, the quad room - actually a suite with a second room up a spiral staircase - was extremely practical, comfortable and charming. It was also spotlessly clean. The high power hairdryer was a life-saver when we got wet through one morning. Breakfasts were excellent - good coffee, real hot chocolate, boiled eggs, cold cuts, pastries, even cake - and the rooftop garden tables a delight when it wasn't raining. The location is ideal for walking around the historic center, very close to the National Museum and the railroad station. While the prices are high by US standards, they aren't out of line for central Rome, and remember they include taxes and breakfast. This was the nicest hotel we stayed in on our brief stay in Italy (we were also in Pompeii, Florence, and Pisa). We'd be very happy to have the opportunity to stay there again.

we had a comfortable stay at the hotel; a good breakfast was offered on the 5th floor of the hotel outside on the terrace as a perfect start for discovering Rome. This could be done easily on foot. But: We consider the price vs. quality relationship as a little bit too expensive.

We were very pleased with our stay at the Hotel Columbia. We were quickly and warmly greeted when we checked in. We were given a lot of information about the hotel, our stay and Rome information that greatly enhanced our 4 day stay. Every time we left or entered the hotel, we were cheerfully greeted. Every question we had was quickly and efficiently handled. The currency exchange service was a welcome service that we did not expect. The breakfast each morning was very well done and delicious. The room was spacious and the a/c worked very well. Our stay was very enjoyable.

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Columbia for one night, the day before our flight out of Rome. We picked it for it's close proximity to the train station. It is very close to the train station and it was an easy walk with all of our luggage. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The interiors were modern and clean. The room and hallways had new carpeting. There was a flat screen TV in the room (with CNN). The bed wasn't as firm as I like. The breakfast buffet was fine. I would stay at this hotel again if I needed to be near the train station again in the future.

We stayed at the hotel for eight days, and it is the best value we have ever found in Rome. It is very well located, near the train station and a number of good reasonably-priced restaurants. Our room was incredibly quiet and everything in it worked. In good weather the very full breakfast is served on a very pleasant open deck. The staff was attentive and when a lightbulb blew in our room it was changed immediately. The outside of the hotel is unimpressive, but a little paint would fix that, and once you are a guest it's completely irrelevant. This hotel is a real gem.

I traveled to Rome with my mother, who was born there & lived there until age 20, and my sister to see her old "stomping grounds" and meet some family. The Hotel Columbia was just right for our week-long stay. A hard-working,multi-lingual, friendly & accommodating staff is there to help. The location was very convenient to restaurants, shops, some sights, and transportation. The rooms were clean, quiet, comfortable and had a full bathroom. The rooftop breakfast was a great way to start each morning. The value compared to other hotels is apparent. I would definitely stay there again on my next trip to Rome.

We stayed in a double bedded room at the back on floor three. The elevator was an unexpected bonus to all floors. The room was quiet. Very attractive feature of roof garden area for breakfast and evening drink in the quiet bar.Breafast was plentiful with reasonable choice. Very pleasant staff with ready smiles and greetings at all times. Easy to find and walk to with the directions you supplied and we (60 year old English couple) walked almost everywhere but did make some use of the daily metro/bus ticket and one taxi when the A metro closed at 9.00pm, which caught us out. We did not have enough time in two and a half days to see all we wanted to so plan to come back and would certainly consider returning to the Columbia. One small, unpleasant incident happened to one of our friends before we met them at the Collosseum one morning. Some gypsy-like women with babies were gathered on the steps which lead down to the road round the Collosseum and manhandled our 40 year old lady friend, who is incidently, a probation officer. Money was extracted from her jeans front pocket as she was jostled and her arm was held but she reacted very forcibly, shouted at them and they handed her money back saying she had dropped it.She was very angry about the incident and we also felt shocked by the boldness of the attempted theft and were watchful to avoid similar characters, This made us feel a bit embarrassed and uncomfortable as we are trusting folk. We thought the prices of accommodation in Rome was very high compared to similar rooms in Sorrento.

A very short walk from Termini although a little hard to find street first time. We stayed here our last night in Rome after a train trip from Germany. Good choice to stay in downtown Rome for remainder of last day and the next morning had a leisurely ride by cab to airport. It was so close to things.

More expensive than the B&Bs we had stayed in up to this point. The desk service and large free breakfast (which was very good) were nice but wouldn't induce me to stay here again over lower cost options. If you are looking for an American style hotel with full bath, breakfast, 24 hr desk service and an elevator, this would suit you.

Well, this hotel has a great staff! The breakfast was very good. Our room was in the back and very quiet, with lot’s of space. The one area of opportunity we felt about this hotel was that the rooms need some updating! Everything seemed less clean than it was, so some fresh paint and new fabrics would really make this a top three star in Rome! The area is good and is very close to the terminal, which is good if you ride the train to or from the airport. In addition, if you plan to ride the underground, there is a station close to the hotel too. Restaurants near the hotel are good, but pricy. To eat a good nice meal with a good value, go to the Spanish Steps area. We had good luck there. Again, take the underground to the stop at the steps. Also, if you plan to rent a car when leaving Rome, then being near the Terminal is very helpful for this need. Lastly, to get to the Vatican, the Underground gets you there in about 6 stops. I would say the location of this hotel is perfect to get around Rome with ease. I would also say the staff makes this hotel a joy to visit and a deal for Rome!

The hotel is very conveniently located to the Termini station and to shopping at Via Nazionale. The folks at the reception were helpful and gave us good recommendations on restaurants. The room we were given was very quiet and clean. It looked comparable to the photo in your website. The breakfast room was very pleasant and the breakfast spread was good for Italy. We thought the room rate was a bit high compared to the other hotels we stayed in in Italy, but I guess this is how it is in Rome. Overall a very pleasant stay and we would return again.

A nice wee hotel, on first impressions from the outside you think "Oh No !" as it is a little bit grubby and very sixties looking, complete with broken neon name sign, the exterior could do with a fresh coat of paint, there are two closed down, and run down businesses on either side of the main entrance, but don't judge a book by the cover, inside is kept nice and clean, very friendly and helpful staff, English language is no problem, very good location to explore the city and only a few minutes walk from the main bus terminal (Termini).A good continental breakfast is served in the morning, Rooms are what I expected for inner city Rome, bathrooms are clean and fresh, room and bathroom are serviced daily. It has a television but you only get CNN, and BBC World news stations, so I hope you like news. It's ok for a two night break, but you may be fed up if you stay longer. Nothing for Kids to do in the hotel if your travelling with kids/teenagers, Value for money was ok-ish, I didn't feel the hotel was too expensive for what it was and the service was excellent.

This hotel was absolutely ideal for exploring Rome. The hotle was only a very short walk from Termini and although the area around Termini can be a unpleasant, this hotel was in a nice street and there was no trouble. The only thing i could complain about was the air conditioning in the room, I would swear that it blew out hot air! However, we left the window open on our second night which made for a much more comfortable night!.

Hotel Columbia was about a 10 minute walk from the train station (we took the train from the Rome airport). The young lady who registered us was very accomodating and friendly. The room was clean and spacious. The continental breakfast and service were very good.
