Excellently placed hotel especially if you want to use trains regularly. Staff very helpful. Only downside was coffee from a machine for breakfast!

Enjoyed our stay very much the staff were very welcoming and very helpful. Would go back without hesitation. It was very close to all sites of interest and close to Termini station so had easy access to everything.

It was one of the best hotels on our trip. BW stands for Best Western. The personnel was very helpful and kind. We were able to leave our luggage there after we check out. It has a great location for those traveling by train. The ONLY bad part of the hotel was the breakfast (eggs and bacon were extrememly salty and bad coffee).

Excellent value for money! Very clean and very central! Only draw-back was that the residents bar closed before 12 which was early for an Irish wedding party!!!

Hotel Universo was very comfortable and conveniently located to the train station Termini (only 2 blocks). Everything except the Vatican is reachable on foot and the metro is located at the Termini as well so everything is very close by. The hotel was extremely clean and the large breakfast offered between 6:30-10:00 which was included in our stay was very convenient. It gave us a full belly to start our day. We would certainly stay there again. Word to the wise... they do not have an alarm clock in the room (my only complaint) so bring your own travel clock so that you don't have to rely on the hotel wake up call. We didn't receive our call one of the days and were in jeopardy of missing our train to southern Italy.

A very good location (near Termini) so access is easy. Rooms are reasonably quiet, comfortable. and well equipped. Breakfast indifferent - terrible coffee, (shame on an Italian hotel !) Staff friendly and quite helpful. There were a couple of power cuts during the visit, maybe local to the hotel, but nobody had any idea what was going on. Otherwise generally very recommendable.

The entire hotel appeared clean and tidy, however it must have been dusty since both myself and my husband had severe allergy problems while staying there. The staff was very friendly and helpful! They spoke English for my relatives and Italian for my husband and I. Usually staff just reverts to English even though I speak Italian. The hotel was very close to the train station without being too close. The sauna and the steamroom were a wonderful refuge and NOBODY was using them but us : )

Rooms were newly decorated but reception staff were extremely poor in areas of check in and response to queries. There appeared to be a large number of staff doing very little. It took us 45 minutes to check in, and this was when we got to the top of the queue. The person checking us in continued to take phone calls while trying to check us in. When we called reception to enquire about the air conditioning in the room we were told it was Spring and the air-con is not turned on until June! Extremely poor service!

We even got upgraded to a superior room, when the room we first got had twin beds.

Rooms are as described, Modern, Clean,Bathrooms are super nice, but with some sewer lines problems (slow drains). Super nice place to stay if you hate antiquated room surroundings like the rest of the hotels in Rome("no Padding on the walls gathering dust for you to breath). Great place to stay if you don't mind walking to and from restaurants and sites. ( Great for loosing some pound after a big dinner). One thing and I hope they read it at the BW Universo: all of your Concierge staff is Nasty to their guest in all possible ways.

Stanza spaziosa e silenziosa. Bagno comodo. Strano un frigobar "a richiesta" (c'era ma vuoto): bisogna prevedere la sera prima la voglia notturna di bere? Colazione non all'altezza. Tutto sommato l'albergo è ok.

I decided to offer a trip to my parents to Rome, never visited by them in their life. I was together with my husband. Hotel was ok, think more care should be taken to common areas for interior decorations. Rooms are newly furnished but grounds and hall show the age.

BW Hotel Universo was an excellent choice for our break in Rome. The staff were extremely helpful with advice on were to visit and how to get there, clearly explained all the facilities in the hotel, meal times, deposit box, luggage storage. No charge for safety deposit box, no charge either for storing our luggage from when we checked out (08:30) until when we went to the airport (17:30)! I have never been to a hotel that was as accommodating as that! Room decorated to a high standard. Good facilities in the room and the hotel. Breakfasts were good, a long period you could have breakfast during, good selection of cereals, cold meets, beverages etc. Loved the cake! Only slight negative was that the shower rail had been damaged by a previous occupant and hadn't been fixed. I got the impression that the previous occupant had not reported it. It meant that we couldn't wash our hair standing up. As I say, a minor negative. We would certainly go back if we return to Rome.

While travelling through Europe I expected this to be my WORST hotel. In fact, out of the 4 hotels that I stayed at, this was the BEST hotel. Plasma TV in the room, huge bathroom, excellent massaging shower. I can't say enough about the shower. Did I mention the shower? Clean, great lighting, very modern. I have recommended to all my friends back here in the US. On par with most US upscale hotel chain rooms. Five out of Five stars, and I will stay here on my next visit to Rome.

This was our final night of our Honeymoon, so expectations were at their highest... it lived up to them well. Apart from a REALLY, REALLY miserable barman (who really didn't wreck the stay at all for us on the whole scal of things!) we had a PERFECT stay!!! Throughoughly recommend the restaurant, plus the waiters are excellent!!! Good location too - not the nicest, but that's not what it's there for; it's there for access. It's a 2mins walk fromt he station. Definately recommend this place.

Very nice hotel. Strategic position closed to Termini Railway station, where it is possible to take a lot o bus for every place in the city.

I need the small and medium seize towel, slipper and bathrobe. My room rate hotel might supply those equipment. The sound of drainpipe disturbs the sleep. However, location, spaciousness, hospitality by staff is perfect.

This place is fine is you need a sightseeing base for a few days. Room was clean and quiet, bathroom was very cool. Breakfast was a total disaster, better off being avoided, but that didn't really matter to us as our days were mostly eating and sightseeing. Two minutes, three at the most from the metro which takes to to most of the main sites, and it's maybe 20 minutes walk from the Trevi Fountain. Would have no problem returning. Functional but effective

good location but bad in service. Water is seeping through the shower cubicle and we stepped into a pond. Front desk could careless about it and roll their eyes. As for Breakfast, flies are all over the food (very limited selection) and they don't care. We stayed at the Starhotel Metropole just 5 steps away on our way back from Venice and had much better service there. With EUR 180, we can do much better in that area. There are so many hotels around that you wouldn't imagine.

Only really wanted a bed for our two nights in Rome. BW Hotel provided that more than adequately as service of staff not really an issue. We were able (preferred) to walk most of the time but did catch the Metro to the Vatican. In this respect we were very pleased with the location - close to the Metro & about 15/20 minute walk to "the main features". At £80 (approx) per night, the hotel is a bit pricey for what it is but, the comfort/quality of the rooms was worth it.

This is a very nice big hotel. The rooms are great, but the common spaces are a bit dated...the breakfast was not good. We had a nice balcony and a modern room. This hotel is more expensive that it should be really. We had a little problem with the front desk staff, who seemed to be a bit weirded out by two men checking into a room wth only one bed. (It's the only time we had this reaction in Italy).

DO NOT STAY HERE, PICK A DIFFERENT HOTEL!! If you read nothing else that will be enough. There are the reminents of a hotel with potential never realized about this place. The room was in poor repair and previous work such as wall patching and painting was of very poor quality. The room had a terrace which was filthy and overlooked a very dirty, trash ridden street. Street noise was awful even with the windows closed. The air conditioning in the room did not work, there was no air conditioning in the public areas. Breakfast was horrible. Asking the desk for any assistance was met with a complete disregard for the guest. We stayed only one night and were glad to have left!

The room and the location is good, but the service in receprion was poor I never met. The attitude of the guy Mario was very rude and unfriendly when I ask for check-in at 13:57 but he said "No check-in" before 2 o'clock But I just saw a Itlian check-in before. The service are very very bad if you paid Euro140 for one night and I would not recommend anyone to stay there.

The location is exelent if u what to travel and se rome by subway. U are 2minutes walking from the terminal station and fron there U pay 1 Euro to spanish steps, colosseo, vatican city etc. Its bether than spanish steps becouse u dont need to chage trains. Taxi is not expensive but it takes longer couse of the trafic so Termini is perfect. The hotel dosn´t have a good breakfast and the rooms are very noisy. U can hear u neighbour. In winter the heat sistem does´nt work so good and thats bad for a 4 star hotel. I give it 3+

The hotel was very centrally located. The renovated rooms were superb and it was nice and quiet at night too. Breakfast could have been better and the check in was slow - but the staff was polite and friendly. All in all were very happy with our choice.
