Although the enterance to access our room was via another outside doorway, adjacent to the main enterance this was not a problem.
Overall we were pleased with our room and the service we received. The only complaint would be the very basic quality of the breakfast.

We were very satisfied with our experience at Galles; would especially mention the desk staff as being pleasant, knowledgeable and helpful.
The housekeeping was excellent.
We also appreciated the size and quality of the towels, and the fact that they were heated!
A bit more variety in the breakfast would have been welcome, since we stayed eight nights, but one was certainly able to choose items that were nutritious and filling.
We would recommend the hotel to friends.

terrible hotel.
on arrival we were told we could not check in for two hours whilst they got our room ready. despite this, when we did check in, the room had not been cleaned since the last persons stay. room stank of SEWAGE and we had to be moved. the staff were ignorant and unfriendly. the breakfast was disgusting. they had a few cereals, and a choice of chocolate cake, or chocolate chip cookies!!!! for breakfast! and they werent even nice! the lift in the hotel was frightening! i dont have a problem with lifts usually, but despite being on the 4th floor, would rather take the stairs!! it didnt feel safe at all!
the location of the hotel was good for getting around places on the tube, as it is only about a 5 minute walk from termini station, so is also good for airport transfers. however the area is not good for finding places to eat at night.
the worst part of the hotel is that the maid who came to clean our room, stole a necklace of mine, which was of sentimental value. we tried to tell the staff on reception that is was 'missing', although we knew it had been taken, but they couldnt understand english so we just had to forget it.
i would not recommend this hotel to anyone. we had a great time in rome, but the hotel was not worth the money we paid. i would rather have paid abit more for somewhere half decent.

Initially the contact with staff was good. However, as we were preparing to go to our rooms we were then made aware that the hotel had 3 entrances and our rooms were on the opposite side of the building, 2 blocks away by foot. He asked a bellman to help us with our bags, (8 couples in total with 16 bags). It was POURING rain and he handed us all an umbrella and proceeded to march us around the building in TERRENTIAL, (I mean gully-washer), downpour. We, and all our luggage was SOAKED. We mentioned something to the woman working front desk later and she brushed us off. The next day, we had a shuttle scheduled to take us to the airport and the front desk WOULD NOT send them around to the other entrance to pick us up but made us come all the way around again with tons of luggage. POOR STAFF JUDGEMENT OR CONCERN was our experience. The facility and rooms were just fine - well worth the price.

I would have rated Galles higher, but they had some problem our first night and put us in a much smaller hotel a good half mile away. It wouldn't have been a big deal if they didn't claim it would only take a day to fix only to overhear them tell other customers the same thing the day we left. It felt pretty suspicious to our whole group.
Other than that, when we actually stayed IN Galles, it was beautiful. We had a 2 story room with a huge bathroom. The A/C didn't work as well as we would have liked (we were there in July) and the heat from the shower tended to rise into the upstairs bathroom, but other than that there were no problems. The staff at the front desk alternated from not caring enough to listen to a question before walking off into a back room to someone kind enough to schedule a tour for us. The included breakfast was nicer than those we had at other Italian hotels, and we were grateful for the hotel allowing us to store our luggage there after checkout. I'd recommend it to travelers willing to spend a little more than some places to be within 3 blocks of Roma Termini and near hostels with young people. There were also a couple of decent restaurants and a super market nearby.

It was a shame that we had too stay in the second building of the hotel. furthermore this part was still in the process of rennovation, so our balcony was a mess and there was no minibar in the room.

In past few years my family have travel many countries by ourselves .This is the first time I travel in Italy for 18 days which is a good trip . And I must say hotel 'Gelles' is the worst hotel in my trip . Even it’s located in a convenient place near Termini Station and looks elegant . But it too old so the air-condition is noisy and doesn’t work well (the room is always hot ) , and the window isn’t sealed well which make us seem sleeping on the street (the hotel is located by a heavy traffic street ), and the room is very crowded . At last , part of the counter (the older one) is not very tender who doesn’t care the guest’s feeling and opinion . So I am very regret to make 3 nights reservation and I don’t recommend this hotel to anyone . If the hotel won’t promote their equipment and attitude their price should reduce a half which is worthless .

As was mentioned in other reviews, we were taken to a hotel around the corner after checking into Hotel Galles, but it was okay as we expected that. We were a little worried at first because the hallways leading to our room were a little scary. The carpet was stained, there was a thick layer of dust on the railings and just generally didn't look very good. However, our room was beautiful with a large, marble bathroom, nice towels, an upstairs loft with plenty of storage space, flat screen t.v and a marble balcony with beautiful french doors and high celiings. We were very impressed. The hotel was not in the greatest part of town, but was close to train station making it extrememly convenient to get in and out of town. We walked to most of the sights we wanted to see, but there was also a metro stop only a couple of blocks away which was also convenient to use. Most of the staff was friendly and those who weren't, were not rude, just not overly helpful/friendly. Breakfast was pretty typical but good and lasted until 10am which is later than most places we stayed. We were pleased with what we got for the money we paid.

My travel agency made a mistake and my family and friends (10 of us!) had no place to stay in Rome upon arrival. I found Hotel Galles on Venere.com and was nervous about making a reservation the day before arrival. I used the ratings and price on this site to choose a hotel and it worked very well. The Hotel Galles is clean and quiet. The breakfast is excellent and they don't run out of food. It is located in a safe, nice, and convenient location in Rome. Considering the price this is a great buy. I would stay there again.

We(4pax) stayed at galles for 3 nights.
The room offered is quite historic but really dark. The breakfast is fine except coffee. Some receptionists don't speak English. The hotel is situated near the Termini, just only 5 minute walk from there.
* Overall impression *
I recommend this hotel for a tourist who would like to feel something Italian there, but a tourist with kids or familly.

Quite a good place to stay for a few days in Rome, close to Termini railroad station (5 min. walking). Kindness of employees at the desk is variable, breakfast is ... average. Depending on the period, price may be overvalued

Generally, the hotel is acceptable for what you pay. The staff are helpful although they had let our room to other people when we arrived alet at night, but another was soon allocated. The rooms overlooking the front can be noisy at times and the room we stayed in was rather cramped. Breakfast was more than you would need and there are several good restaurants in the local area. Location to the Termini is good - only 5 minutes away and the area felt safe even late at night. Beware pickpockets on crowded buses - someone stood next to us was 'done' in the middle of the day. Would recommend this hotel.

We made a reservation for a double room, the first day we were given the room for disabled people and the second a single room with a bed a little wider than usual. After complaining we were given another room without towels, don´t let them cheat you. Personal from reception not very kind in general, the best is the location, just five minutes away from termini, but don´t expect too much from hotels in rome.

I find the hotel somewhat expenseive for it's quality.
Other friends booked and stayed in similar hotels for a lower tariff.
We payed 198 euros per night, and friends stayed, in a more centric area, paying around 120-140 euros, for a comparable room

Very easy to find. We had a great experience in Rome and this location was so convenient, a 8 minute walk from the train station where we could find good food on the run. There was also a metro stop close by. The breakfast was good and the room had a classy "state room of a boat" look to it. At first I thought I would be too closed in but it was fine.

The hotel is well-positioned, near Termini Station. Via Marghera takes you there in no time. It's a nice place, clean rooms, great breakfast. Only two problems: the rooms are pretty small and they are dark. There are only two bedside lamps. Otherwise, it's ok.

Due to some water damage at the Hotel Galles, upon our arrival we were re-located to a nearby Hotel for the first of our 5 night stay. This second hotel was very local, nice, and comparable to Hotel Galles. As recompense, once we moved back to Galles on our second day, we were give a free upgraded room that was lovely, and very much appreciated. The Hotel locacation was ideal for touring Rome and many good restaurants just a few minutes walking distance.

This Hotel is an excellent value. It is just a five minute walk from the Termini. The room was quite spacious, it had a loft! Breakfast included a good variety of breads, fruit, juices, cheese and ham slices. We intend to make it our hotel of choice when we visit Rome.

Galles is a lovely hotel for the price and location is fantastic, lots of lovely bars and eating places,it is very close to the terminal but it has one downfall, the guy with the grey hair on the desk. He must be one of the most unhelpful people we have ever come across. We arrived early after a very long journey and we knew we couldnt get into our rooms until 2pm so we asked if we could have tea, or something from the bar, this was declined, the bar is closed 24/7 so we just had to wait. The reason we picked Galles was because of were it was and the fact it had a bar as we did'nt want to be out walking in a strange area at night time. This man should retire to the grumpy old mens home and let Galles get on with it.

hallo,
it was the second time we were staying in this hotel and again it was very good because:
1 the location is very good, we went on holiday with ryanair and the bus-stop is near this hotel (the train station)
2 also there is a metro-stop in the street
3 also the rooms are ok , just some little things could be better but then you better stay at home : - ))

My boyfriend and I had no problems whilst staying at Galles Hotel, and we would defiantly recommend staying there, for 72 Euros a night including breakfast you can't really go wrong!
Check in was strictly at 2pm, which for us wasn't a huge issue, although it would of been nice to be able check in a bit early as we had a 6.10am flight and were at the hotel by 11.30am which meant hanging around in the lounge area for just over 2 hours, this was ok as there are comfy sofas to snooze on, but this was not the hotels fault.
We had no problems whilst staying there like I said, the room was what we needed a bed, which was comfy and a very modern bathroom, a combined shower and Jacuzzi bath, which was lovely after all the long days of walking we done around Rome! The bedroom decor wasn't the best but hey that isn't an issue really!
Breakfast wasn't bad, a continental buffet, which consisted of bread rolls, butter, jam, cakes, cereal, and fruits though I wouldn't advice hot chocolate from the coffee machine! it was horrible watery powder stuff...
The Hotel is very close to the Termini Station as this website says, it is literally a five minute walk, though there is the metro station (C. Pretrio) 2minutes from the hotel door. Which will take you to all the major sites.
When checking out you have to be out by 12pm, this wasn't a problem either as the hotel has the facility to leave your luggage should you happen to have a late flight like we did!
I just wanted to thank venere.com for making booking online so easy, this was the first time we have done so and we found it really helpful getting other peoples views on the hotel, so thanks!

Upon arrival I was moved 3 times due to rooms having defects in air conditioning, clogging of shower etc. I was never offered an apology and I practically had to beg the General Manager for a discount for the inconvenience. I don't think that I would come back or refer anyone back to this hotel. Staff was very rude and not friendly. It's a very good location and close to metro and termini but I can always stay at the Best Western around the corner.

Although they gave us a loft style "mini-duplex" room at the last minute we decided to book the room, their service and hospitality were both rude and inconsiderate. They acted like we were bothering them all the time. Our room was located outside of the hotel around the corner and they just expected for me to know this, and when I asked for help or directions the manager asked this young man to take me to the room but he complained about not wanting to do it. Very poor service indeed, but you get what you pay for, so I guess we shouldn't have expected all that much from this hotel. It's a good location, very close to the train station, though. The next time we go to Rome, we would choose another hotel with friendlier and better customer service.

Our quad room was readied early when we arrived in the early morning following an overnight train trip. That was welcome! However, our room was a bit funky: a missing air conditioner, a very low ceiling on the second floor of our room that contained two beds and the bathroom. The beds on the main floor were a sleeper sofa and a portable bed. But the location of the hotel is wonderful, with a metro entrance just a block away, and a great cheap pizza place a few doors down. It's only a few blocks from Termini Station. The hotel's free breakfast is just fine. Although our room was funky, it was very nice that they let us in hours early, and the lobby area was quite lovely. We would likely return here again. I just might ask to see the room before accepting it.

Do you want to spend some time in Rome? The right answer is Hotel Galles. Very very closed to the Termini Station but in a cleanliness area, very quite and safe. There are some nice restaurants in this area but you can get the bus or underground walking 2 minutes. And the price of the room is favolous...only 73 euros for a double room with full breakfast!!. The room was very nice and the bathroom exceptional!! A modern shower, modern bath in marble...very cool. Me and my girl friend had a very nice time in Hotel Galles.
