We were very pleased with our room, much better than expected for a capital city - reasonably sized, peach-coloured, with cherubs on the wall and a roof garden - ok it was next to the plant room but it was still a relaxing place for a drink after hot day in the city. Not sure what the other rooms were like. Only downside, the bathroom was cramped and needed a bit of tlc, cracked tiles etc. Staff were very helpful. Great location, off the busy streets but very handy for the colosseum etc. Hard to find in a car though, the tiny street wasn't on our map!

Location was great but the staff left a great deal to be desired. My fiance went to park the car (as no one offered to assist him even for a nice tip), I struggled with three large bags and one tiny elevator. The man stood at the check in desk and watched me and never once offered to assist me. I was quite shocked to say the least. When we asked for recommendations of good restaurants the staff were useless. The location and price were very nice but the staff could not be any less helpful.

We were on our honeymoon, and they upgraded us to their best room, without charging us extra. The breakfast rom had a view towards the piazza venezia, and the hotel was in a quiet street. A great hotel, with great service. In "walking distance" to all the great sites in Rome.

Rome was very hot, but the air conditioning in the room was great. And all your front desk staff were fantastic. Dario in particular speaks many languages and was very helpful and friendly. The only suggestion I would have is that the bathroom needs a shower curtain to keep water from splashing everywhere.

Cans and bottles in the mini bar were filthy covered in dirty and dust. The breakfast was below standard, watered down orange juice and limited choices.

We have been to Rome many times. But The Bolivar was the absolute best hotel we've stayed in. From the gorgeous rooms, to relaxed breakfast room with beautiful views. Location... excellent everything we wanted to see within walking distance. Best of all.. on a quiet street. In fact we have booked again.

Good location, small rooms but we were not there that much. Staff helpful. Good location. Breakfast was ok, ask for the cappicino from the waitress she will scowl but it tastes better than the coffee in the Jug

On our arrival, there was no porter to get us and our luggage to our room which was very small and dark, even by European standards. There was no glass wall or shower curtain to prevent flooding of the bathroom. There was no safe in the room to secure our valuables. The door to the room could only be unlocked from within by using a key--an obvious safety hazard if it were necessary to leave quickly in an emergency. The common areas above the first floor were not well-maintained; e.g., the wooden molding was falling off the wall in the 2nd floor hallway. The hotel would not cash traveller's checks, even though they were denominated in Euros. There was no sense of providing customer service as would be expected in a hotel costing 220 euros per night. The only positive comment I can make is that the breakfast which was included in the price of the room was adequate. My husband and I only had a reservation for one night. We would have moved to another hotel if we were to remain in Rome. The hotel was simply not worth the price we paid.

The hotel Bolivar was not exactly what we had expected. Our room was very small and cramped and very cold as well. The staff were polite and helpful, though, and it wasn't in a bad area, just in a strange little alleyway inaccessible by car. I wouldn't neccessarily reccommend this property- it is not as comfortable as I had wished it to be for the price.

Great location within walking distance of major sites - This is what you're paying for. The room and furniture needs updating, but bathroom was excellent and clean. Brteakfast was satisfactory.

We stayed at Bolivar as part of our own tour of Italy for our honeymoon. Our double room was just barely large enough to fit the bed! Beautiful decor! Helpful staff. Very nice assortment of food for breakfast (croissants, meat, cheese, cereals, juices, coffee, rolls, etc). Nice location for seeing Rome's main points of interest to tourists. We would consider staying here again, if we return to Rome...but we would request a larger room!

Das Haus entsprach voll unseren Erwartungen an ein 3-Sterne-Hotel. Angenehme Atmosphäre; besonders zu betonen die zentrale und dennoch ruhige Lage. Empfehlenswert!

Everyone at the front desk was always very helpful with any request, or information we needed. The location was close to everything, and the family run resturant across the way from the hotel was very good.

This is not the Hotel Bolivar as the room "was not ready" and it was either wait 3 hours or be moved to a different hotel in the group. As we did not want to hang around and the desk clerk was doing every thing in his power to persude us to move, we moved. As you can see from the review, the replacement, Hotel Borromeo, was not bad, it was a modern hotel on a busy main road that did not have the romantic qualities we selected in the Bolivar, also the area was not as good and access to the main part of the city not so easy

Very nice hotel, in a convenient area. Should have been a quiet location, off any main street. Construction in the hotel started VERY early in the morning and went on all day. No sleeping late, or afternoon naps. We should have been warned the construction was going on when we booked.

The location is excellent. The staff is extremely friendly and accomodating. They were renovating the rooms while we were there, so we were woken up early, but it wasn't a problem and the staff apologized for the inconvenience. I loved this hotel and I will definately stay there again. I can't say it enough, the location is perfect and the price is right!

Things went wrong from the beginning - the hotel had NO record (at all) of my reservation! They managed to find me a room but it was very small. The people in the neighbouring rooms shouted, screamed and came back drunk at all hours. We were woken up at around 4am every morning with them banging on doors or just shouting at one another. When I checked out I had to pay more than I had budgeted for because they charged me a different rate from the one I had booked with you - unsurprising since they had no record of the booking I'd made and therefore of the price I'd accepted. That aside the hotel was well placed and the staff were nice. Rome was excellent.

Nice hotel, but a little disappointed with the friendliness of the staff. Room was small but adequate and kept very clean. Breakfast was O.K. at best. Location was great. Within walking distance to many of the necessary sites. No noise whatsoever at night which was very pleasant.

A very friendly and recently tastefully restored hotel within easy reach of many of Rome's attractions. Nothing was too much trouble for the reception staff. Would I stay there again? Absolutely yes!

Hotel correspondence to book the hotel & attain a taxi from the AP was very quick for a last minute trip. The taxi driver was 45 minutes late picking us up from the AP right off the bat. When we entered the hotel the clerk was not very friendly, and when we said who we were, he said, "I know who you are." Oh, boy. The housekeeping department was the 'pits'. We stayed 5 nights and were always awakened at around 0730 by the housekeeper banging & clanking around outside our door. There were 3 other rooms situated in very tight quarters very close to us, so I'm sure they got the wake-up call too. She also managed 2 days in a row to leave our room unlocked. We told the desk clerk the first time and he didn't seem too concerned, he said, "it's the housekeeper". The second day the 'Main Manager' seemed annoyed we brought it to his attention again. I thought perhaps the door lock could be broken, and maybe he could come look, because certainly the housekeeper would not leave it unlocked two days in a row with our belongings in it, and especially in bold letters written in their room brochure 'they aren't responsible for lost or stolen items'. He waved his arms at me and said something in Italian, like 'yea, yea, yea'. I found it very upsetting & it made me feel unsafe had I come back to the room by myself. Even though the hotel sits back off the main road, the noise from the young kids hooping & howlering late (0100) kept me awake. The breakfast was nothing to brag about either---my husband did not appreciate the instant coffee, nor I the 'watered down' Tang instead of oj. The breakfast room employees seemed to be 'soured' and not very pleasant. It certainly wasn't the most warm way to be ungreeted in the morning. Smiling doesn't take much, and banging around dishes & skirting past us while we were trying to get our breakfast like we are in their way made us feel uncomfortable. I would not stay here again, I would upgrade to a 4 star hotel, it was just no
