A little far from the center of the city (45 minutes underground ride), if you ask for a ride in hotel´s shuttle, it takes 5 min. to the station. Here you can ask in the tourist office for the Roma Pass, A nice choce!!!

My friend and I were backpackers, so for the price the hotel was really great. It suited all our needs and that was it. We didn't like how breakfast was not included and it was very expensive and not worth it. The hotel was in a 'residential area' basically surrounded by apartment complexes and not much else. When we arrived we found the receptionist very rude, as we were 18 year old backpackers. It showed that he felt we were nothing and how we were ruining the hotel because of our age. Other than that we had a nice stay. The rooms were really great. I probably wouldn't stay there again, but it's more because of the location.

We stayed for one night in December. The hotel was near to the ring road and the airport so was very handy. It is a little too far from Rome centre if you want to stay more than one day and visit the centre of Rome each day although transport costs only one euro and it takes about 45 mins. It is easy to visit the centre of Toscanina and Frascati for an evening.

This is my first time to stay in Hotel Petra. The staff were lovely. They have restaurant. We stayed in a doublebed room.It was quite, clean and spacious! We were impressed that the they changed the bed linens and towels everyday. The breakfast? Its super!!!!We have loads of choices from bread,fruits,cakes,cereals,drinks.....The price was great to hve this service. The only thing i did not like {but NOT a big deal}was,to go to our room we have to cross a small road-its in the other building.Approximately 15-20 steps before you reach the eletric gate. But still i highly recommend this hotel!

Ottimo hotel, colazione davvero grandiosa, camere molto pulite e ottima accoglienza.

Top drawer establishment. The only issue was our taxi driver was a little unsure as to where the Hotel was located. perhaps a better map would have helped us communicate. We were very jet lagged. But a really great establishment. I would definately recommend it to anyone.

From airport the directions by metro & bus need the name of the bus stop as well as instructions to get off at the 7th bus stop.We counted 7 stops (including one that we passed) when we got off we couldn't see any signs for the hotel.Later on, after walking on for a mile thinking we has got off too early, we retraced our steps & saw a small sign in the trees of the central reservation hidden from view when you get off the bus. Directions also need to say cross the road & the Hotel is set back. Rather than 'get off after 7 stops & you are there'. Also, access into the hotel is via closed security gates with no indication how to get in.There is no obvious main entrance or reception as they are all around the otherside after you penetrate the security gates. Once inside we were more than happy with the hotel & use of the room card key operated the gates to hotel & swimmiming pool. But felt we were left to find out these things for ourselves.

Very happy with the Hotel Petra ... photo of outside was a little misleading possibly due to age of picture as changes have been made. The pool was closed and being prepared for the summer season. Language barrier can be frustrating but prices are excellent even with the euro!!

We were staying only for one night and waiting for the flight home. Taxi clearly was necessary upon arrival (so thanks for the one not anonymous for sharing the information). Also we went to the Ciampino airport with taxi - at the end of April 2006 it cost 30 euros. The reception was nice but the restaurant staff was clearly too busy with a couple of big groups - also forgot to bring us one food completely! They were also very hard to 'catch'. The surroundings were awfull - contruction site and nothing beautiful.

We thought the hotel itself was very good, but unfortunately the staff spoke little or no english. We never really felt welcome at the hotel, as it was more dedicated to italian guests. It was difficult to find any information on facilities or activities. The fitness suite was closed for the duration of the holiday and there was no hair salon as indicated in the facilities listed. The hotel food was very basic and not very imaginative, and the "english menu" remained the same for our entire stay. The hotel staff were generally good although a few of them were a bit rude. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but we will not be returning to this particular hotel unless there are improvements made. The hotel would greatly benefit if they had more english speaking staff and better food. They need to show all the guests that they are welcome, not just the italians.!!!

Very good hotel on an indusrial estate on the outskirts of Rome ! Don't let the hotels location put you off - it only takes 40 minutes on the bus / metro to get into central Rome. The hotels facilities & food were good and the staff friendly. If arriving by metro take a taxi from the station as you will never find the hotel yourself if you get the bus the first time.

we arrived very late at night (about 4 in the morning) because our flight was delayed. The day after I phoned from my room to ask until which our was breakfast and someone in reception told me until 10.30. I was down at 10 and they told me to go up to the third floor for breakfast and when I arrived they told me it was closed from 10 o'clock, I went donwstairs and the receptionist (a man) was very unfriendly and he did not say anything about my complaint. I ask to stay one more night and he said NO so cold and without explanations. I was really disapointed and I found them very very unfriendly and not polite. The hotel is good but the people I found there to assist me were really not nice.

The personnel at the breakfast is very unkind. A defective safe is not repaired. With our Days in the hotel, a group was youthful guests very much tepidly-starts on the halls and rooms in the night on the way late. Otherwise very quiet and clean.

Pleasant, clean and friendly hotel; good value for its location out of town. Two points to mention from our stay:- 1. If you have a room on the second floor, make sure it isn't under the breakfast room, the table moving and chair scraping starts eary (before 7am ) and is noisy enough to prevent sleeping. 2. If getting to the hotel by bus (no. 046 from Anagnina metro) the instructions aren't very clear about which stop to get off (you need Schiavonetti) - we tried counting the stops and ended miles past and having to wait for a bus back.

Hotel Petra is a really nice place to stay, especially for the prices. In fact, it reminds me more on a 3* hotel, because the room was not too big and the bathroom was in a bad condition. The internet access means that you can use your dialup connection on the phone line of the room, but who has an italian dialup internet connection, and who uses dialup anyway? Some members of the staff don't speak any other language than italian, which was also annoying. Anyway, for 60€/2 persons/night, i think Hotel Petra is a good place to stay, and I would recommend it to young couples.

Very unfriendly service, if you can even speak about service at all. Employees only speek italian and a very broken english. No bus-tickets avaliable on Sundays! No internet-access possible for more than 24 hours. Travelling to the city-centre by bus and metro is one hour each way. Hotel is located in a very poor and unfriendly outscurt of Rome. We will never book this hotel again.

First time traveller to Rome. Arrived at Airport approx 10:30 p.m. No one around to direct us to hotel. Took taxi which cost 50 euros. Found out later that should have taken public transport bus to Aganina and transferred to bus no 046 to hotel which would have cost one euro. Hotel a bit awkward to find first time. To get into Rome itself you can purchase ticket at reception (one euro) which will cover bus and metro into Rome. Stamp ticket in machine on bus, or before getting on metro - not validated unless you do so and you can be fined if it is not stamped. No 046 bus runs every 15 mins and this goes directly to metro. Takes approx 50 mins to get into Rome. Hotel public area poor, however we just used hotel as base. We booked standard room which was very spacious and clean. Breakfast in hotel is excellent and included in price of room. We ate several evenings in hotel which was reasonable and food was good. Would definitely stay again here when we return to Rome and would recommend this hotel. Only negative was that it was a bit out of rome, and may not suit everyone.

Quality of the room and bathroom was poor for a 4* hotel, considering the price is was allright. Breakfast is good, but don't expect a service with a smile (neither at the front desk). Putting it all together it is a good low budget 4* hotel. We'll advice you to go.

From the minute we arrived until we left we were made to feel welcome. There was a bottle of chilled wine waiting in our room as I had asked for it to surprise my wife on our anniversary. The receptionist was very fluent in English and helped us greatly with our travel into Rome. All the restuarant staff were very polite and friendly and helped us with the Italian language menu. We were sad to leave as they had made our stay wonderful, and gave us a taste of the local friendliness and welcome.

If someone want to visit Rom, we only can say "wellcome to this Hotel"... It is more or less 45 minutes from the city, but this is absolutely OK, bus-station only abt 500 m from hotel and than by metro to the city. the rooms are absolutely OK, breakfast OK, and the restaurant included to the hotel is very good and price level too. Swimming pool is pretty. We will book for our next stay in Rom the same Hotel, as the quality/price level is really excellent. congratulations for this hotel !!! We have to say that a lot of new houses were built in the near of the hotel Petra, but we heard no noise !!!

Petra is certainly a good value for visiting Rome. All comfort at a considerable low rate. Nice rooms, swimming pool, a great breakfast, helpful staff, etc. It's close to Ciampino airport, but a bit far from downtown. Take the bus 046 to Anagnina Metro station, and from there the subway to the city. It takes about 40 minutes. After 9:30 pm Metro is substituted by bus. When returning to the hotel, get off the bus at the "Schiavonetti" stop.

Stayed at Petra for a week in August 2005. Pros - lovely room, great breakfast, fantastic pool (always quiet and plenty of loungers). Cons - a bit too far out from the city centre for us. You need to catch a bus from outside the hotel to the metro station (3-4 mins) then a metro to Termini (30 mins) then another bus/metro to your destination. Fine during the day but caused problems in the evening. Last bus back to hotel from metro was at midnight so if you were eating at Trastevere (our favourite area) you had to leave at 10pm to make sure you had time to get home (Italians don't normally order their meal until 8pm). Buses and metros were very cramped and sweaty - not good if you've just had a big meal and a few drinks. Hotel is located in middle of industrial/residential area and no pubs or restaurants nearby (as far as we knew) apart from restaurant at hotel (quite pricey) and small bar at hotel which no one used. Staff were friendly enough but had limited English (just so you're aware). Also no iron available at the desk so take your own. Overall, very good value for money (for the pool especially) but I would stay nearer the centre next time.

This hotel is a good place to stay at in terms of accommodation, cleanliness and facilities. It was perfect for our requirements if a little out of the way. There were no immediate facilities outside of the hotel however the transport links into central Rome itself were very frequent and easy to use. Overall it was a very nice hotel and excellent value for money if you don't mind a small trek into town!

Overall we were satisfied with our stay. The room was quite large, well cleaned&tidy every day by a nice positive lady. The pool outside was a great relief coming back from the heat&stress of busy Rome! A major minus was the communication&and willingness to serve us from the desk employees in the reception. They NEED to learn english.I was robbed of my wallet in Rome the last day at our stay as well as injuring my foot when chasing the robber, and I had to struggle to get help from them. They seamed uninterested to help me sort out the situation.I needed to send some information by internet and print out an important voucher to get my rental car out from the airport, and it took quite some time explaining and pursuading them to get access to their computer. This I found very discouraging and it wiped out the nice impression that had been built up during the days we stayed there.

Information is needed in the rooms so guest are aware how to contact reception or when breakfast would be served and opening and closing times of Restaurant etc.More Training required for the Catering staff so that they are equipped on how to deal with customers (irate) and indeed how to ensure they have correct orders. The Restaurant needs to be fully airconditioned in summer. Otherwise all went well and i would revisit.

Either the Venere booking system or the Hotel booking system had failed to book the correct day of arrival, as a result we arrived at midnight to be told there was no room at the hotel for our first night. The response of the Night Manager was TERRIBLE we had to fight for him to find us another nearby hotel and then he wanted us to PAY for it, and the taxi to get us there! When we returned the next morning the Hotel Manager took control and dealt with the situation in a courteous and professional manner, it was however a poor and time consuming start to a short city break in Rome. After this point, it is fair to say the standard of the hotel and its services was excellent, and we enjoyed our stay, but the booking system(s) need urgent review, as does the customer relations training for the Night Manager of the Hotel Petra.

A very enjoyable stay, though we were about 40 mintes from the city centre, requiring a bus and metro ride. Hotel is very clean and friendly; restaurant was good. It is situated in an industrial area, but it is very quiet; the views from breakfast bar are excellent. We would recommend it, especially for Ciampino airport.

An excellent hotel at an excellent price for Rome. The rooms are quit, clean and offer enough space - as well as the bathroom, which is comfortable and functional. We got a delicous breakfast there and an uncomplicated and well organized service. Of course we will join this hotel again on our next trip to Rome.

Overall we had a nice stay at this hotel. The staff were really friendly although we did find one of people on reception was not very helpful. The morning after the night we arrived we asked at reception the best way to get to Rome, could we get a bus or was a taxi best. He said a taxi was the easiest and would cost 10-15 Euros. It actually cost us 35! After we had got a taxi back that night (for 37 Euros) there was another man at reception who we asked about buses. He was extremely helpful and told us we could get a bus from over the road and then the metro which would cost 1 euro each way! He gave us maps and a bus and metro route and said we could buy the tickets for the bus from the hotel!! So make sure you do this, you will save lots of money and it only takes about 30 minutes! The only other problem we had was being woken up about 7 each morning, as we discovered our room was under the room where breakfast is served. All we could hear were tables being dragged over the tiled floor and every step people took on the floor above! It wasn't too much of a problem for us as it signaled it was time to get up, but if you are not planning early mornings then this may be a problem for you.

The location is not ideal for tourists. You have to get the 46 bus to the train terminal through a particularly run down area. The rooms were really only to 3 star standard. The staff were superb though at helping us.

My husband and I stayed in the hotel for 14days, from Jan-Feb, 2005. We really enjoyed everything the hotel had to offer. We were able to use the internet for communication back home. Everyone was very nice. We ate breakfast in the morning, great european breakfast, and we even ate dinner in the evening because the food was so good. The hotel has wonderful selections of wine, and we took advantage of the wine. The room was very clean, which was important to us, and the hotel was very clean as well. We were able to take a bus from the Metro which consisted of only a 15 minute bus ride, and the hotel offered transportation to and fro if we liked. It was a free car ride to the Metro which is thier subway, and it was very appreciated! The hotel staff offered many directions to get to the sea, and the different places in Rome. I neeed to go to Naples, and the staff was going to set everything up for me. Thier customer service was inpecable. I was so impressed with the hotel that I would stay there if I ever returned. Thanks Petra for making our trip so great! You are a great hotel!

This hotel is really great value for money. We paid 55 euro/night which included a breakfast buffet. The only real issue is the location - it is a little too far out of Rome as you have to catch a bus (5 mins)and then the Metro train (25 mins) to get into central Rome. However, this is cheap to do so if you don't mind the travel each day, this is a great place to stay. It has its own reasonably priced restaurant which is handy because there is nothing else in the area. I would recommend this hotel without hesitation.
