This is a typical 'airport' hotel which can charge ridiculous prices for crappy service just because people are willing to pay in order to be close to the airport. Staff was unfriendly and unhelpful, rooms were very noisy, surroundings are hideous, hotel feels like a hospital, and there's the constant sensation that you're about to be robbed (i.e. night guard, cameras, signs telling you to watch your belongings). Only good thing is that it's literally at a stone's throw from Ciampino airport. Stay here only if you're desparate to be next to the airport.

It satisfied its role for us as a hotel near the airport to stay the night.
The hotel is very difficult to find and the directions provided bear little relation to the local road network. The journey from the airport to the hotel is about 4km and requires significent navigation skills to get there at night.
This 'hotel' will be for ever etched in my memory. It was in this very hotel that I had the worst breakfast I ever had.
This hotel is like a lighthouse in a bog, brilliant but useless.

I recommend this as an overnight stay before early flight, but not if you wish to stay more and visit Rome. The hotel is situated conveniently at end of runaways - great as it's 5 minutes away from Airport entrance via shuttle service (fee based, 5€per person) but as well noisy during the day. For early ealry starters they provide a take-away breakfast , otherwise full breakfast is included. Fare to get to city center is 30€ with taxi (or the otherway round as thisi s a fix price established by Rome City Council) - please beware you can't get there from the airport walking , but you can ask them to send you the shuttle (fee based)

The night clerk on duty overnight is an absolute liar and extremely disrespectful towards women. When we checked in we were told we could take the last shuttle at 0345 hrs to the airport. We had a 0630 flight, but the 0500 shuttle would be too late, so we decided to just go early. The clerks on duty at approx. 2200 hrs told us this would be our best option. At 0345 we arrived in the lobby to get the shuttle and the man behind the desk was astounded that we were up to take that shuttle. I believe he simply didn't want to have anyone run to the airport for just two people. We told him what we were told when we checked in and began arguing with us about what time we needed to get to the airport. He told us the airport didn't even open until 0500 hrs because it was a military airport and we would be waiting in the street for the doors to open. He did say if he had to, he would have someone take us, but was very adamant about not wanting to. Against our better judgement, we waited until the 0500 shuttle left, was there in 5 minutes (he didn't lie about that)but low and behold, the airport was open, and there were hundreds of people about the airport already. The airport doesn't close, and while there are no check-in counters open until 0500, the doors were indeed open, and plenty of seats in which to wait. We were furious as now we had to wait in a 45 minute line (when we clearly could have been first)to check in for our flight. Blatant, rude behaviour.
While the rooms were clean, a bit of a walk from the front desk. For a 1 night stay, you'd think they could place those travelers a little closer to the front. The bathroom however was a disaster. The shower stall was broken and couldn't close the door, leaving water all over the floor. The thing on the wall they call a hair dryer would take days to dry the head of a bald man. The treatment we received was not worth the money we saved.

Hotel NOT called or known as Hotel Palavicchi -made it near impossible to find! Actually called/known as Hotel Alta Quota and is a right turn just past the Aguip petrol station on the left - looks like you're turning into an airport long term carpark as signage is poor. Clearer directions on website would help.

We only stayed here on our last night in Rome because it is near the airport, and as such is convenient and ideal, at least if you have a rented car. Breakfast was good and an unexpected inclusion. Manager was witty, after I whined about the difficulty in finding the place, he replied, "this is Italy, the agony and the ecstasy", which I loved. Worth it for that comment alone.

Definitely no friendly welcome! But rooms are OK, clean and spacious, especially regarding the rate. Location, for tourists is not the best you would find, but very convenient for business travelers, real close to main highways and to the airport (as you will hear...) Restaurant is OK, too, though a bit overpriced.
All in all a good pick for € (or $ or £) conscious travelers.

All-in-all, a very nice hotel. The rooms were clean and spacious, and the restaurant was good. Only complaint would be the hotel shuttle service was expensive, but once we figured out the bus service to the hotel, we used that instead for a lot less money.

The room was a small twin room, but it was perfect for me. I loved the huge bathroom, even though the shower could be bigger for the dimension of the whole bathroom.
It is indeed very far from the city, but it is the best place to stay if you have an early flight. The only comment I can do is that the driver of the shuttle bus kept me waiting at the metro station for 30 min in the middle of the night, which was not very safe at all as a girl that has been for the first time in Rome. But otherwise service was kind.

Staff were not very helpfull. We were told to drive all the way round the back of hotel to our room, when the room was only a 100yd walk from reception. Our room was next door to people who were up alnight talking & smoking outside. Hairdryer broken & toilet badly stained. Only good thing about the hotel was the closeness of it to the airport

The hotel is located near the airport on the road into Ciampino opposite the AGIP petrol station. Rooms are very noisy, you can hear neighbours, people in corridors late at night and the airport runway. Our bathroom floor could have been cleaned better. The restaurant was very good and you can also get a take-out pizza. Convenient for the airport if you have an early morning flight.

very noisy with people coming and going at all hours and not very warm in October. It would be quieter (and warmer)if the corridors had carpet instead of tiles. The room also would have been nicer with at least a rug by the bed.

Hotel is far from Luimicino Airport, the service was very bad, our rooms were ready 3 hours after our arrival. We asked invoice when I did the checkout but they can not give and they tell you they will send you by email, but we never received the document.

The hotel is located very close to Ciampino airport approx 1km but be prepared to pay 15-20 Euros for a taxi. The room we had was very basic it had holes in the wall with toilet tissue stuck in some bulbs were missing and cigarette burns in the bed linen. But the worst part was the bathroom, if you had a shower the bathroom would flood approx 50mm of water would cover the floor. maybe it was just my room I don't know, but don't have room 604!

Se avete un volo la mattina all'alba oppure arrivate la sera tardi questo è il luogo ideale dove passare la notte.
Vicinissimo all'aereoporto di Ciampino,pulito, tranquillo.

What a horrible experience. If you are going to stay here, the hotel is directly across the Agip gas station (yellow/black/red logo). It's really hard to find. Close to Ciampino airport.
Awful service--the A/C was broken all night, making it a difficult place to sleep. This place is a favorite for the EF tour groups, which means you are in a dorm-style setting with high school kids running around screaming. (Gotta love our American kids.)
The breakfast is awful, and the check-in service is even worse.
I strongly encourage you to avoid this hotel; a high quality service like venere.com should remove this hotel from the search.

If you need a place near the airport, this is an excelent choice. Good service, excellent restaurant, competenet staff. Only complaint is that it is difficult to find if you are driving a rental car- sign in front of hotel is very small and the roads to it are difficult to navigate if you are not familiar with the area.

In itself, the hotel represented good value for money but its location proved to be the main drawback for those without a car. It is very isolated in the countryside and there is no other alternative eating opportunity, or even habitation, within reasonable proximity should one desire a change. Fortunately, the hotel dining room was very comfortable and well appointed and the food and service were both good. Travel into Rome is by the bus service COTRAL, which proved to be rather unreliable with buses often running late and on occasion not arriving at all. Buses can be uncomfortably full at times, due to the ferrying of people and their luggage to and from Ciampino airport, and the journey to the main Termini railway station in Rome takes getting on for 1 hour altogether by bus and metro. The bus stops in the direction of both Rome and the airport are some 300 metres from the hotel but the walk to and fro is slightly hazardous as there are no pavements and one has to choose between walking along very uneven grass verges or on the edge of the very busy road itself. One other slight disadvantage was that the hotel appears to take large groups of teenage students and they tended, during our own stay, to be rather noisy when returning to their bedrooms in the late evening.

Very close to Ciampino airport ideal if arriving or leaving Rome at inconvenient times. Other reveiwers have found it difficult to find but with multimap.com this wasn't hard. Good value. Restaurant good value. Right next to airport so a little noisy as morning air traffic starts

This hotel was good but trying to get a taxi to get there from the airport was hard. No one would take us as they wanted to take people into Rome and not locally. Would be worth the hotel providing transport to and from the airport as it is only around the corner. I had to pay a taxi 25Euro just to go a couple of mins in the taxi as no one else would take us.

I recommend this hotle, it is nice an local to the airport and within a bus and train ride away from central Rome. Expect no real luxury in the room but for the price it is fantastic and the restaurant was superb. One minor negative is if you have noisy guests in the hotle the noise from the halls can be heard from the room, but on the whole excellent.
