The hotel is well located for the main tourist highlights; Trevi, Piazza Navona, Via del Corso etc. However, having stayed at a 3 star in the same hotel group previously, which was only slightly further removed from those attractions, I can't understand how this can be so much more expensive. I didn't rate the breakfast as highly as some of the other reviews either.

The room was hot, hot, hot!! The air conditioner (located above the door) barely worked and it leaked onto the floor constantly. The staff was fabulous, but the room was just ok.

The general review rate is a bit low due to the fact that the bathroom was really bad, shower not functioning, hot water was not always there! And there was nobody to take your luggage to the room which i think is unacceptable for a 4 star hotel!

The only significant problem we had with the room was there were no non-smoking rooms available. Our room smelled of cigarettes for the first 2 days and gave me a terrible sinus headache. It was also a bit cramped but comfortable otherwise. Two of the four front desk persons were very nice and extremely helpful; the breakfast staff was extremely efficient. The location was great - we walked everywhere.

We were there for part business and part vacation. We loved our stay at the Hotel Sistina. Very well situated and clean. The staff were welcoming and friendly. We liked the breakfast with the variety and quality of food. The staff throughout the hotel were very accommodating. We would stay there again anytime.

The location is great. My room was very noisy as it was across from the lounge at the hotel next door. The next morning when I told them the problem and asked for a room change they said they were completely booked and could not help me. They seemed to have booked memebers of travel group. In the morning it was diffuclt to find an available seat in the breakfast room.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay at the Hotel Sistina. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Our room was small and have twin beds, but worked fine for us. The location was excellent....very close to the Spanish Steps. Since this was our first visit to Italy, I am not sure how this compares to other hotels, but in my opinion, this hotel should be rated as a three star hotel, not four star. All in all , we really enjoyed our stay there. The breakfast buffet was very good. We will recommend this hotel to others because of the location and friendliness of the staff, however, I think you can probably find another hotel that would provide the same services, but less expensive.

This was a great hotel for the price. The desk personnel became our "best friends" within one day, and went out of their way to help us learn the language. The rooms weren't huge, but very comfortable. Great breakfast each morning. They were extremely helpful in making dinner reservations, taxis, etc. Location was perfect; within walking distance of the Spanish Steps. We will definitely stay there again on our next trip to Rome....Also don't miss dinner at the Tavernetta Sistina, just a few doors away. Claudio Pepi is a Hoot! You'll get extra portions if you tell him he looks and sounds like Pavoroti!

This place is a dump. The description reads "renovated" but it is so shabby, torn, and embarrasingly under-attended. I should've checked out right after I checked in.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good. The bathrooms were well appointed. It is steps away from the Via Veneto and the Piazza Barbarini where there is a taxi stand. There are a number of excellent restaurants nearby. A definitely positive experience.

This was a fine hotel in an excellent location (we had no need of transport apart from the hotel to the airport). As a place to stay whilst 'doing' Rome it was exactly what we needed.

The best aspects of staying in this hotel were the very helpful staff, who gave us excellent recommendations for restaurants. Also, the included breakfast was one of the best we've encountered. The room was a bit noisy as it was located above a very busy street. This would be a plus for some and a minus for others. Compared to the other hotels we stayed at during this trip the price was a little high, so the value is not quite as high in comparison. But, I suppose we were paying for the convenient location - 10 minutes from the Spanish Steps.

This is at best a good two star hotel. I don't know where they come up with four stars. Hotel greeting was average. The room was spacious enough, however, the wallpaper was peeling near the AC, Faucet needed replacement, the small safe was not bolted down so anyone could walk out with it, AC worked but was very dirty, Smelled like smoke in the room, we asked for a non-smoking room, the window looked into a cluttered roftop, bedspread was too small for the bed, tv did not have one channel in English (I speak some Italian and got the idea of the dialog), the very cheap plastic cups broke in our hands when we tried to unwrap them, we had one dirty bath towel when we first got into the room, they had an extra phone in the bathroom for god knows what, they had a pant press but no iron, the full length mirror was partly usable since half of it was blocked off by an armory. The breakfast was good buffet style but the service to get coffee was poor. All in all there are better values in that part of Rome. We paid 174 Euros which was way out of line for the place.

The online photo probably showed the nicest and biggest room available. Ours was considerably smaller and not well decorated. It had a picture of the Mother Mary above the bed. It felt cramped. The hotel's best value is it's excellent location to transportation, landmarks, internet cafe, and restaurants. The rooms are small (we had a singe and a double.) The lift is very small (we had a wheelchair that wouldn't fit.) The hotel is in need of a good cleaning and touch-up painting. The carpets in the lobby and some public areas were dirty and stained. I felt the price was high considering the quality of the rooms. The breakfast buffet was adequate. The hotel staff was cordial but not overly friendly or helpful.

I would recommend Sistina Hotel to anyone who wants a great location, a good breakfast in the morning, a shower in their room, and friendly staff. The room was small - smaller than the 4 star rating would seem to indicate - but it was kept well with efficient maid service. The breakfast was very good for an inclusive breakfast. The best part was the location - within minutes of the Spanish steps and the Trevi fountain and within 30 minutes walk to the Vatican and Colliseum.

Although the Hotel had a bar we were unable to get drinks or coffee in the evening. The room needed a coat of paint,it looked very drab. The bed was the hardest mattress I have ever tried to sleep on. But for a short break not a bad location within walking distance of most of the main sites.

The front desk staff was very helpful and multilingual. Breakfast was excellent with a wide variety of options. Pays to be early to breakfast on weekends since the guests all seem to go back for seconds and it can get crowded. Easy walk to Spanish Steps and Trevi; metro a short block away. Area restaurants weren't impressive

We enjoyed the hotel -- we knew it wasn't going to be a Ritz Carlton, but it was good enough to sleep in at night, the room was spacious. Our shower was a bit of a disaster, but that was our only complaint. The hotel was right near the Spanish Steps, and you could walk literally anywhere in the city, which is precisely why we chose the hotel. We were very happy overall!

STAFF WERE VERY WELCOMING AND FRIENDLY SPEAKING GOOD ENGLISH,UNFORTUNATELY WALLS WERE THIN ENOUGH TO BE WOKEN BY NOISY RESIDENTS EARLY MORNING. THIS DIDN'T SPOIL OUR VISIT TO ROME BECAUSE THE LOCATION OF THE HOTEL WAS IDEAL FOR WALKING TO THE SITES OR JUMPING ONTO THE METRO!

This hotel is perfect! It's conveniently located to all major sites (i.e., Spanish Steps 4 blocks, Trevi Fountain 6 blocks). Also lot's of great restaurants within 1 block, convenient for dinner. Since public transport is not as available in Rome, as in other major cities, walking everywhere was a breeze from this hotel's location. However, the Metro is available 2 blocks away. The breakfast offered was varied and delicious! The staff were very helpful, courteous and kind. The room was on the small side, but comfortable -- I didn't go to Rome to spend time in my room anyway. It was exactly as expected. The description on Venere is accurate. The room was also quiet! This is not a luxury hotel, but definitely serves the purposes of a budget conscience traveler. I would absolutely go back and stay at Sistina!!

We had a wonderful time at the Hotel Sistina, the staff were very welcoming and helpful especially during breakfast. The positioning of the Hotel is excellent for walking around the city. We were slightly unfortunate in that we had very noisy neighbours during our stay, having said that, we would definately return and recommend this Hotel to anyone.

I had a different expectation of the hotel. I stayed there in 1981 and it has changed very much. It was nicer before and had more charm. Now it is just one of a "group". I used to love the continental breakfast on the rooftop, which is no longer available. The price has gone up considerably as well. The staff couldn't be nicer and more competant though.

A nice hotel overall, but nothing special. Rome is very expensive nowadays, so it's hard to get a good value. There was a large Madonna hanging over my bed, but the bathroom was cramped and the towel rack kept falling off. By asking for a room in the back I got to be in the center of Rome and still enjoy the quiet.

The staff were friendly. The rooms were clean and well appointed. Breakfast was good. I would have liked tea making facilities but these are not common in European hotels apparently. I would be happy to stay there again. There was an internet facility by buying a prepaid card but the connection was very slow and I had trouble sending e-mails

Our neighbours were very loud and that in middle of the night, and the beds were a little bit to hard, so we slept not very well. The service and the location is very excellent. The rooms are as offered, only the breakfast-room is real small. But it was very amusing to stay in Hotel Sistina.

The only real complaint is that the airconditioners in both rooms (2 parties) did not operate correctly. One of them saturated the carpet with water and after 2 days it smelt terrible. It was our first hotel in Italy, but we later found that none of our hotels in Italy had satisfactory air conditioning. The Sistina is in walking distance of the Trevi fountain, Piazza Navona the Pantheon (gorgeous and free)and in the other direction, the spanish steps. If you go early while it's cool you beat the crowds. I would stay again for the position.

The location of the hotel is perfect for people using the public transports. Its near the Metro station, bus and taxi so its easy to go anywere in the city. The only thing that made our stay at the Sistina hotel unconfortable was that they were doing some repairs at the hotel and the elevator was NOT working. So every time we were back to the hotel we had to walk two flors stairs in order to get to our room. And they din't told us that when we made the reservation allthouht we were e-mailling allmost every day.

Arranged with hotel for private pick up from airport. Did not arrive. Mistake admitted by hotel. Ripped off by registered taxi. Hotel made mistake with reservation. Venere information correct but hotel only reserved one night instead of 4. Fortunately had vacancy for remaining days. Time for a refurb. of public areas.

The best thing I can say is the location. Really within walking distance of most of the major sites, and at a very reasonable price for the location. Internet cafe located just around the corner too. The room space was adequate, and the bathroom was also generously sized. The breakfast buffet was better than I expected.

For a three day stay in Rome Hotel Sistina is well situated near the top of the Spanish Steps. The rooms, food and service is good at a reasonable price. The hotel is small in a narrow street (Via Sistina) and cosequently the views from the hotel are limited, especially if, like us, you are in a back room. So it would be advisable to check the situation of the room when booking as they could not relocate us to a front room. John and Moira Carr.
