| Situated in the green lungs of Rome - the Villa Borghese Gardens - the Aldrovandi Palace is perfectly located minutes from historic landmarks such as the Via Veneto and Spanish Steps. Its verdant and peaceful location offers a quiet alternative while being walking distance from some of the city's premiere museums such as the National Gallery of Modern Art and the Borghese Gallery. |

royal suite
The Aldrovandi Palace Hotel offers 121 rooms, double deluxe, double superior, junior suites, deluxe suites and one royal suite. All of the rooms and suites in the hotel are uniquely furnished, keeping in line with their original 19th century splendour. Attention to detail is paramount: elegant, rich fabrics upholster and dress every window, chair, and bed distinctly, creating a sense of home.
The warm colours offer a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. The beds are dressed with the finest of linens, to provide our guests with the well-deserved rest needed during a vacation or business trip.
Rooms have lovely views: the Villa Borghese park, our own private garden and pool or the neighbouring 19th century villas, which are immersed in a lovely area of trees and plants.
Luxurious antiquity meets requisite modernity: all of our rooms are fully equipped with the latest of the contemporary comforts for our selective traveller needs: air conditioning, private bathroom, hairdryer, mini bar, cots and extra beds for children upon request, interactive TV (Bang & Olufsen for deluxe rooms & suites), voicemail, computer outlets, in-room safe, dry cleaning, ironing, laundry service and writing desk.

We stayed at Aldrovandi Palace in early May of this year ('07). The hotel is beautiful, though a little shabby, even though our room was in the "recently renovated" area of the hotel & we were told by hotel staff that the rooms were much nicer than those that had not been renovated. Not what we expected considering the rate, 5 star rating & the fact that it's one of The Leading Hotels of the World. We were also disappointed that the only breakfast offered was a huge buffet at 53 Euros per person & there was no other place close to get breakfast. But our biggest problem with the hotel was that the shower/bath was possibly the worst we've ever experienced. It had rust stains, the built-in mirror was damaged, the hand-held shower head was cracked & had mineral deposits so it sprayed water right at you, the overhead shower had mineral deposits & sprayed all over, &, on top of it all, the bathtub drain would not close. The worst ever! Also about the bathroom: when we first arrived there was one of those "Guaranteed Sanitized" banners across the toilet seat, but when it was removed there was pee on the toilet seat! Very funny. However, the neighborhood was upscale, beautiful & quiet which made its rather long distance from the sites well worth the taxi rides. The hotel's complimentary hourly shuttle to the Spanish Steps helped a lot & the hotel staff was extremely helpful & friendly. In spite of the lovely staff, I don't think we would stay there again.

Surprisingly enough, breakfast was not included in the room rate. The hotel is lovely, elegant, professionally run. However, it is somewhat out of the way, an advantage in Rome if you want to get out of the chaos for a moment, but isolated with respect to transport into the city even though two trolley lines run in front of the hotel. We found a bottle of champagne, a bowl of fruit, and cookies to welcome us to the room...a very nice touch though we don't consume alcohol (would have preferred the included breakfast). However, the thought was appreciated.
