My wife and I booked this hotel and it is a wonderful place. It is located in China town (I think) but it is so conveniently located to the train station (just a stone's throw away from the hotel). If you are entirely new to Rome, you might have a tough time getting to the hotel as you are unfamiliar with the streets. If you are coming from the airport, I would NOT recommend walking from Roma Termini station as it is quite a walk. Instead take the local train and it is only 2 stops away. We took a cab to reach the hotel but once we knew the exact location, it was very easy to commute. It is a very safe neighbourhood. The receptionist was very cordial. As soon as we entered the hotel, she gave us a 15 min overview of the places we could visit and things we could do. The hotel also teamed up with another restaurant for a free lunch/dinner (the food was pretty good and the restaurant is close to Roma Termini station as well as the hotel). The rooms were good and well maintained. Of my entire trip in Europe, this has been one of the best hotels I've stayed. Would highly recommend staying here for the convenience and ambience. The only minus point was that the rooms are not sound-proof and I could clearly hear the loud noises at the reception desk (there is somebody always there until 2am). So if you are not a sound sleeper, you may have some trouble.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone because you are not allowed to take the hotel key with you when you go out on excursions. The is always stays at the front desk and if something is missing from your room they aren't liable.

Reception could certainly be more welcoming. However for price paid Moscatello definitely was good accommodation. Rooms were small, but clean and nice. Bathrooms lovely. Pictures do accurately depict the hotel. Slightly dodgy area, as around train station, however never felt unsafe in hotel. Good value for money.

Very clean and modern ensuite hotel rooms at a reasonable price. No facilities but close to train station and reasonably close to tourist attractions, metro nearby. One free dinner was provided in lieu of breakfasts.

This hotel is located a short walking distance from the main Rome train station but the map provided on this site was not detailed enough to be of any real help. Ended up on a bit of a cooks tour and what should have taken only 10 minutes blew out to 1/2 an hour searching. I would suggest you get a more detailed map before arriving rather than use the one displayed on this site. They also seem a little heavy handed on the security and room key policy as well as not initially explaining properly what this policy was which lead to some confusion. Basically you have to leave the key at the desk when you leave and pick it up again if you want to get back into your room. I would have to say that overall this hotel was pretty good for the price paid compared to other places around Europe and would stay again when visiting. The area it is located may not look the best, is a tad run down and not appear the safest in appearance but was close to the Metro system and tram lines and has a great ice cream/gelati shop a few doors down the street. Staff were helpful, the room was comfortable and relatively quiet.

My wife and I were extremely happy with Hotel Moscatello. All members of the staff were very polite, professional and friendly. We were a bit apprehensive about the area surrounding the hotel, as we saw the low rating it had gottem from venere.com users, but we found it to be fine. It did have some drunkards neat the park, but apart from that, nothing really negative. The park even showed films (dubbed in Italian) in the evenings. The hotel is located away from any throngs of tourists, which we welcomed. The room, even though it was situated on the side of the street, was quiet. It had functioning air-conditioning, a comfortable bed, free drinks from the mini-bar (water and soft drinks), and everything was just so clean. We highly recommend this place. We stayed 2 weeks in Tuscany, and this place was the best we had in that price range (65 Euros).

Earlier comments on venere did not note that there is an excellent gelato place that is a stone's throw away. It was fun to eat all that gelato so near the hotel. The gelato place is widely noted as one of the best in Rome, given the choices of flavours available and the generous volume. Hotel-wise, the rooms were neat and straight forward. The hotel is also located right in the heart of Chinatown, and of walking distance from the train station. Staff-wise, nothing to comment about.

The room was big and confortable, unfortunately near the reception, so it was a bit noisy from time to time. The location was good near the train station. Although breakfast was not provided we were given a vouch to have lunch or dinner in a restaurant nearby for free (very good restaurant indeed!)

The young lady at the front desk was extremely unfriendly when we checked in. The front desk individual that came on later was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a very desolate area, but that may have been because we were there only on a Sunday night and everything around the hotel was closed (even at around 5pm, when we checked in.) The rooms were nice, quiet, and individually air conditioned, but I would likely not stay here again. I'd prefer to find a property on Via Cavour (there are plenty) which is safer and livlier!

Very convenient location to the train station Termini and the subway. The area around the hotel isn't posh but we felt safe and were able to walk to a lot of the sites. The hotel staff was very friendly and made sure we were confortable as we were travelling with 2 young chlidren. The room was clean and fonctionnal and the bathroom had been redone recently. The free mini bar was a plus and very convenient to store snacks. The Moscattello certainly isn't a luxury hotel but offers a good compromise when you don't want to spend too much and still have the essentials. We recommend it.

We enjoyed our stay at the Moscatello. Problem with the shower drain being very slow, hairdryer was broken. The shower room is too small, and the restaurant mentioned on the Venere website was not open for business in the mornings until 10am. Other than that it was okay. I would probably seek someplace else nextime.

Mauricio (sp?), the overnight clerk, was friendly and helpful and kind--he really made our stay special. The area around the hotel, while convenient, is a little seedy. The hotel itself is very clean and comfortable.

The Moscatello worked out perfect for our needs. The room and bath were very clean and in excellent condition. The staff was friendly and able to point us in the directions we needed to go. There wasn't any common areas, but that wasn't a problem, we weren't there much. The meal was some distance away, but easy to get to and the food was good. I would definitely recommend this place for other travellers. The price was inexpensive in comparision to other hotels and centrally located for easy access to the subway and all the sights of Rome. The local area around the hotel does have a lot of graffiti, but all of Rome seems to, but there was nothing to cause us to worry.

Zimmer neu und sehr auber. Ein bischen zu hellhörig. Preis-Leistung super. LAge ist nicht jedermanns Sache aber Termini fußläufig erreichbar (20 min.) und Metro-Station Richtung Barberini und Vatikan 5 Min. zu Fuß. So gesehen ideal.

The Moscatello Hotel is conveniently located near the train station in Rome. The area surrounding the hotel is not the best, but we were able to walk to most areas in the heart of the city. Our room was very clean and the bathroom was newly renovated. The common area is nonexistant, but we were not planning to spend time in the hotel, so it didn't matter. The young woman who met us at the desk the first day was very pleasant.

Moscatello is a little but nice hotel. The surrounding where it is located in Rome is not the best, but as it is only a walk of one minute to the next Metro-Station it is perfect to reach all sightseeing-objects in the city. When you keep the windows closed (aircondition) there is no problem with the traffic noise. There are also a few nice restaurants and a fantastic icecream-parlor a few minutes away from the hotel.
I think hotel Moscatello is a nice hotel for a sightseeing-trip to Rome, when you look for a hotel, that is not to expensive.

Conclusion à recommander ...

The room at the Hotel Moscatello in which I stayed was well presented and very clean. It may have been recently refurbished as it matched the photos on Venere.com exactly. The location is not the nicest and although the main area of sights, shops and restaurants can be reached on foot, the hotel is not right in the midst of them. There is an enormous ice-cream parlour just metres from the hotel's entrance which shouldn't be missed. My general feeling, though, on staying in Rome is that the hotels can be expensive for what you get, and this one is no exception.

I was extremely pleased with the cleanliness and spaciousness of the rooms at the Moscatello. I worked in a hotel for several years and am used to spotting failings but I honestly cannot fault this establishment. Although breakfast is not included- perhaps the only minor setback- there is a minibar/fridge in the room, making it handy to store snacks/fruit and also for keeping drinks cold in the summer heat. Make sure you heed the rules regarding reception closing times... this is not a 24-hour reception! And while this did not bother me, a few of our group found themselves locked out after a late night and had to sleep on the street until morning (obviously their fault for not checking beforehand, although some travellers don't seem to be aware of the need to check reception times). All in all a great stay. Would definitely return to the Moscatello.

The room looked like it was very recently remodeled and was very elegant. It was near the Roma Termini train station, but closer to the end where the train to FCO stops, which made it slightly less convinient for us.

The hotel is a little bit hard to find , but then you have found it you will find a little hotel with a small reception,no hotelbar or restaurang but very helpful and nice staff and rooms with very good standard I you don´t need a big reception, a hotelbar or a restaurang in the hotel I can warmly recommend this hotel.

This is great hotel. If it was located somewhere else, it would be 4*. Actually the niighborhood although rough looking, it turn out to be ok, we did not have any problems. We would stay there again if we were to return to Rome. The Metro es a block away, the pizza shop across the street is excellent, and there is a food market two blocks away. The lady at the reception was extremely nice. The night shift guy gave us a ride to the airport for a reasonable price. 35 USD. The hotel is brand new, very clean, very comfortable. We loved it in spite of the surroundings.
