I enjoyed my 2 nights at the D'Este. The staff were very friendly and the accomodation excellent. (They put me as a single traveller in a room for 5!) The location is superb and could not be better for sightseeing. The improvements I would like to see would be tea making facilities in the rooms. Very Good.

We truly enjoyed our stay at the hotel. It was located within walking distance to sites and the hotel staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Our car rental company lost our reservation and we had to make an unexpected trip to the airport. The front desk immediately arranged for a ride (7 passengers and lots of luggage!!!). I would recommend.

We were only at the hotel for 12 hours so unable to have any meals. Disappointed that although we told the hotel of our early departure breakfast was only given after a reminder as we were leaving.

We booked because the web page said there was a bar - not available during our stay (and no minibars in rooms). The room lighting was so dim, we were unable to read in bed. Rooms were very noisy - we could hear the couple in the next room arguing, then making love! (including gasps and groans!!) Single room (for mother) very cramped - only just room to move between bed and dressing table to get to the bathroom. That bathroom floor became very wet all over when shower used.

The staff was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. My suggestions for improvement would be: better coffee, real fruit salad instead of canned fruit. More choices of items for breakfast. I would also suggest a better internet connection - mine was intermittent and my computer has not had that problem with any other wireless service. The location of this hotel was great - close to the subway and train station. Also one could walk to most all major locations and attractions in the downtown core. I would stay here again if I come to ROme.

We were looking for a place that was inexpensive and centrally located. While this hotel was not the Ritz, it had clean rooms, helpful staff and reasonably comfortable beds. You don't go to Rome to stay in your hotel, so I think that this is an excellent place for a base of operations. It is a bit better than what we had expected.

The Hotel is downtown near the most important tourist areas. I was lucky: they gave me a huge room and I was alone!

Room was spacious and clean with nice furniture. However, we had pre-arranged that the hotel would provide a cot for our 11 month baby, but instead they had put a single bed in the room for him. We had to argue with them for 5 minutes to persuade them it was not suitable for a baby. Eventually they replaced the single bed with a very old, dirty travel cot, which they said was the only one they had. We ended up keeping him in our bed all week. Also the hot water ran out by about 8:30 every morning - not good when we wanted a lie-in - and didn't become available again until midday (despite assurances throughout the morning that the water would be hot again 'very soon'). The hotel's location was further from main attractions than we expected, as it was described as 'central'; about 35 minutes walk from the Spanish Steps. Buffet breakfast was fine.

My stay at Hotel D'Este was satisfactory, however there were no tea making facilities in the room. Also, you could not request any food/drink after breakfast was served, resulting in a long walk to the nearest cafe/bar.

After the helpful staff placed a firm board under our mattress (and over the wire bed base)we got good nights sleep. Hotel D'Este is wonderfully placed for the toursit sights of Rome and the Termini Railway station (main station from DaVinci Airport - go to Termini to catch the Tourist Red Bus). Shower water can get short when everyone is trying to shower at once. We solved that by showering at night. We recommend the nearby Elettra Ristorante (72a/74 Via Principe Amedeo (back towards the Termini) for excellent local cuising and service by Romans - say hello to Mario!) This is my 2nd stay in this Hotel and although it is not 4 star, at least we feel like we are staying in Rome and not an anonymous american type hotel/motel - and isn't this why you are going to Rome???

The room was very adequate for the amount of time we spent in it. The couch was very dirty and stained....it made you feel like the rest of the might not be very clean. Also the breakfast area was very nice, except some of the cahirs ,which were upholstered, were very, very frayed and ripped. Not very conducive to eating.

Our trip to Rome was part of a birthday celebration. My wife & our mothers visited Rome hoping to stay in a good quality hotel. We didn't expect the Ritz but we did expect a fair standard of accomodation. Upon arrival we found that the 1 double room & 2 single rooms we had booked months previous (and had received confirmation on) had not been booked correctly. The incompident hotelier had only reserved 1 double room & 1 single room. He said they had no other rooms available and we had to "take it or leave it". To add insult to injury we were told we must pay an additional charge for a breakfast!! During all of the debating, the initially well spoken English hotelier had somehow forgotten how to communicate in English and began to perform much shoulder shrugging and pityful face pulling?! Much to my anger I tried in vain to find another hotel but as it was a weekend I had no such luck. I would stress that if you still choose to stay at this hotel make sure you phone to confirm they have reserved your room correctly. I will go back to Rome but will give hotel D'este a very wide birth.

We were a family with two children who stayed at the hotel for 4 nights. We can recommend the nice, quiet and small hotel only 5 minutes walk from Roma Termini. Friendly and helpful staff. Good aircondition. Many nice and small restaurants nearby. Close to the famous church Santa Maria Maggiore.

The photographs of the hotel did not do it justice; the staff was wonderful and eager to please. We were very impressed with the hotel, especially since we had never visited this city before and saw what we could have ended up with. Your website was so helpful in planning for a large group, as one hotel could not hold everyone, as well as the different times we booked for people. Your map showing the location in the city was invaluable!

Considering that we are vegetarians, the breakfast spread was more than what we had expected from some of the comments we read. It is a nice place and very close to the Termini station which is good for a tourist. Wodd recommend the place for my friends

The staff were a bit stand-offish....and the rooms were "very" dark, not near enough lighting. They did not have my room ready and moved me the next day, the second day I could not get any water out of the shower "half way thru" and would go on and off in spurts. I would not stay again.

This hotel was quite okay, the staff was friendly. The Room was pretty small and old furnished, but if you go there only to sleep it is absolutely sufficient. The Bathroom was clean and also at 5.30am we could take a hot shower. Roomservice was everyday including fresh towels. The breakfast was surprisingly comprehensive and a nice start into the day. The price (1double /65EUR /February) was totaly okay, but i doubt i would pay 130EUR (the price 4 weeks later). All in all i would stay at the Hotel D'Este again and recommend it to others.

Hi! I recommend this 3 Star Hotel, to all those people that would like to stay in a hotel near the Termini Train Station, because it's only 3 minutes away, by walk. The rooms of the hotel are a bit small and the breakfast was good.

The room itself was fine, comfortable and the bathroom/shower was very good. The air conditioning was excellent - a must in summer in Rome. The location was great, walking distance to the Colleseum and a very short walk to the train station. It was very noisy because they were in the middle of rennovating and there were jack hammers going from 7:00am - this probably would have been okay, if we had known in advance. Parking was available on the street - Sunday is free! If you find a park on the street and feed the meter, you can stay as long as you like - it's just finding the park that could be the challenge!

Location okay. Advert specified 1-restaurant, basic only breakfast, no evening facilities. 2-bar, did not exsist, closed since new owners moved in 8 months ago. 3-Sky TV, only Italian lanqauge channels. Overall value for money-extremely poor compared to other European hotels.

We had booked 2 rooms with air condition but when we arrived in the end of September they said that all of the air conditioners had been turned off for the season. This was false. The air conditioners were not working and the rooms were hot. There was no discount given on the rooms for the air conditioners. Nice hotel just no air conditioning as it says on internet

We have stayed at Hotel D'Este several times 4-2 years before. It is a nice and sentral situated hotel near Termini. But we think we enjoyed our stay at the hotel more earlier. To have a chance of getting hot water in the mornings, we had to get up before 7, and, we missed some of the hospitality we enjoyed at our earlier stayings.

Price far too high, I would not even rate this hotel as 2*!

A tad expensive, considering that it's necessary to take public transportation to the historical sites. The front desk seemed to be very organized, although some of the attendants spoke/understood neither English nor Italian well. 2 WORDS OF CAUTION ABOUT ROME: If planning to take a cab from the Ciampino airport to the hotel, be prepared to haggle the price. The drivers asked for 60 Euros, but we insisted upon paying the actual fare which was around 25. Also, watch your belongings in public spaces!

There were hairs on the floors, springs coming out of the mattresses, there were loose electrical wires coming out from behind the mirrors, and there was mildew on the shower curtains. The outside looked fine, but it was in a dodgy area with the construction beside it. The breakfast was bad. I don't know how long the meat had been sitting out. I can't really say anything positive about this experience. It was overpriced (even by Rome standards) for a room that not a single thing worked as it was supposed to.

This Hotel is far above the standards that you would expect for a hotel of this price in Italy. Do not expect the confort and quality of a reasonably priced hotel in the USA but remember, this is Italy and the standards are different. However the people at the hotel (mainly chinese employees) are very nice and helpful. The rooms are clean although a bit small (single ones)and not nicely decorated at all. The toilets are spacious and completely renovated which is not the expected standard in Europe. Breakfasts are abundant and reasonably good and last but not least, the location is great. This is not the fanciest area in Rome but definetely very centric, just besides Santa Maria Maggiore and two or three blocks away from Termini train station.

Terrible place to stay. Would definitely not recommend it. Was in a triple, very thin walls and did not get more than two hours sleep the two nights there. Contacted the front desk minimum of four times per night about noise from the next room, nothing done. Was to have had a wake up call at 6:30a.m. on Easter Sunday to attend mass at St. Peter's Square, they did not give us the wake up call. We missed our seating for the mass. Very upsetting to us, they did nothing to try and make it up. By the time we got to the square, our seats had already been given away. Moldy in the bathtub and shower curtain. Hair dryer hose was cracked and did not work. Mini bar did not work plus nothing in it. Very dark in room, plus took two days to have light fixed. If I could have found another room, I would have gladly forfeited my deposit. Breakfast made you sick just looking at it. Again, definitely would not recommend. Am trying to write owner to try and get a refund for the last two nights there.
