The breakfast was extremely poor (one croissant per person and rolls with jam - note that one cup of jam was covered with mold) for guests except for groups who were served a more elaborate breakfast with cold cuts and cheese. But guests who were not part of the group were prohibited to even approach the separate room. The coffee machine did not provide a good quality coffee. In the room, there were no shower curtain and the hair dryer was broken - it blew only cold air. The staff was not very friendly. It is a pity as the hotel is well located, close to the sea front.

Location was great and Hotel was nice.We had a room on the top floor near the elevator and it was very noisy. If you have a vehicle you must park in a public lot and if you get a space don't move the car while you are there. Other then that this was a good location.

This was our first time in Rapallo. The stay at this hotel was great for the price! Despite only a couple of people who spoke English, the front desk staff were always very helpful and friendly. We had a wonderful room with a balcony facing the water and had an excellent view of the city (and fireworks too because we were there during their festival over the 4th of July and saw fireworks each of the three nights that we stayed). Facing the water though placed us on the street side of the hotel and the road is heavily traveled so there was a fair amount of noise with the windows open. Also, a slight surprise was that the bathroom did not have a traditional shower but rather just a tub with a sprayer to shower off with. "Breakfast" was just bread and croissant and jam. Although we tried the pizza place a couple of doors down (mentioned in another comment on this page) and had good food. I would definitely recommend taking the short boat trip for a day between Rapallo, San Marguerita, and Portofino.

After reading a poor review about the service at this hotel I was pleasantly suprised that everyone at the hotel was nice and very helpful, especially the Owners daughter(who speaks very good English)and the night porter. It is a lovely hotel in an ideal location. As I drove into Rapallo I could see that the hotel wasn't in the main area of the town, but in actual fact the location IS in exactly the right place for the best views over Rapallo and the sea.Go over the road and there is a bridge that crosses over the river into a public car park which houses a huge open-air market every Thursday and to your right is the "LIDO" private beach where you can hire sunbeds on a 'man-made' sandy beach. There are childrens slides and play areas and two little pools or you can swim in the bay. Beyond this is central Rapallo and the Promenade where you can hop on a boat over to Portofino and various other resorts very cheaply. The hotel rooms are quite adequate for the price.Very clean and roomy with a large separate bathroom and the bed was comfortable. There is no kettle so take your own travel-sized one,and you will need a European adaptor. The only English satellite channel is CNN. WIFI is found four minutes walk into Rapallo in the K2 bar, where they bring you enough nibbles to spoil your dinner! There is also a bar, almost next door to the Hotel where you can buy water and milk and they serve wonderful home-cooked food either inside or across the road in a square surrounded by palm trees. I only had four days in Rapallo due to work commitments but have requested another couple of nights late September in the same hotel because I need to go back and do some more boat trips and although I live in Cannes I was totally enchanted by Rapallo, the people and the whole area.PS You must drive on the coast road along to Camogli-spectacular!

Lovley older hotel with a view of the sea. Front desk staff were very helpful with good English skills. Room was great, with tile floors and antique furniture and a modern bathroom. On the fifth floor where our room was, there is a large roof top patio with tables and chairs. Buy some wine and food from Basko and dine on the roof overlooking the water.

The hotel in itself was quite reasonable, clean and spacious, however the woman behind the desk was extremely rude and unhelpful. Any questions or reasonable requests we made was met with a abrupt "No" and when we checked out, she didn't even look at us or even say one word to us, even though we had been polite and friendly to her previously. We don't know if she was just having a bad couple of days, but the experience certainly made our stay at Rapallo very unenjoyable and on this basis we certainly wouldn't recommend this hotel to fellow travellers. This was the only hotel in our two months in Europe we could give a bad review about.

We were fortunate to have a room with a balcony overlooking Via Cristoforo Columbo and the beach area. The hotel is only a few minutes walk from the beach, the restaurants, the downtown area and the night-life. There was a free public parking lot nearby and, although it was crowded, we were always able to find a parking spot. The hotel wasn't fancy -- it was just perfect for two travellers who would prefer to be out and about than remain indoors in such a beautiful Italian paradise!

We tried using Venere.com exclusively (except for two cities) for a 20 day excursion to Italy, two families (8 persons) and I am basing my comments on the European standard for hotels, services and the prices charged. We avoided staying in “Center City” to thus avoid the high prices of the “Tourist Traps” we were never more than 1 Euro away in a bus or subway. The trip spanned Rome, Florence, Pisa, Venice, Cremona, Parma, Borgo Val Di Taro, Rapallo and Milan. Hotel Giulio Cesare was our seventh stop. Ask for Room 42 on the 3rd floor or better yet try to get the 4th floor sun deck rooms you will enjoy one of the most magnificent views of the Italian Rivera. Rooms were the European standard, but had air conditioning, that was working well during the “Italian heat wave”. There is free parking on the streets which is worth about 15 Euros/day. Not only was this walking distance to the center of town it was walking distance to the beach. In the five days we were there we never moved our car. The hotel is truly location, location, location. One train stop south of Porto Fino and 30 minutes from Cinque Terra. Hard to do better!

Parking was unavailable ANYWHERE on a Sunday. They site said free, but they should say VERY LIMITED. We ended up driving for a couple of hours looking for pay parking and ended up at the train station for overnight parking. The hotel and staff are exceptional values.

The hotel was clean and comfortable and the staff were very capable. The beakfast was fine for what it was (croisant & coffee). The hotel borders on a busy road, and the windows were not good enough to muffle the noise. We were not told about the air conditioning until we checked out (it was a fairly hot week). Overall though, nice setting, nice place, nice people.
