Spacious, clean rooms. Ours had a living area, dinette area, and separate bedroom for E56. Great value! Fantastic, hearty breakfast.
Only drawback was finding it, and the map on here isn't very good. If you're flying into Prague, take bus 119 from the airport to Dejvicka terminal and change to bus 20. Bus 20 lets you off on Ujzed Street, which is perpendicular to the street with the hotel. Only a short walk - less than 100 meters.

Although we were initially disappointed to have the two basements rooms, we all agreed it was nice to have the floor to ourselves and it was SO quiet. In the end we were hardly in the rooms so the location of them made little difference.
The location of the hotel was brilliant and offered excellent value for money.
Everything we needed was within a short walk and we all agreed that when we return we would stay here again.

The hotel was perfect for our stay. It was in a nice old building and was more like a little apartment. It was basic, but perfect for our needs. The breakfast was good. The main bridge was only a short walk and hotel in nice quiet street.

Very nice and quiet hotel: the room was very big and confortable. Good location: plenty of shops and restaurants, quiet and clan area. Ten minutes walk from the most important city attractions (Castle, Charles Bridge, st venceslao square...). Huge breakfast buffet.

We stayed here in Feb '08 and were very pleasantly suprised. The room was at the back (towards the courtyard) and very quiet. It was also much bigger than we had expected, especially since we paid so little for it compared to other hotels in Prague and throughout Europe. Room a bit dated (cracked tile in bathroom floor, curtain rod flaking), but otherwise in very good order. Really enjoyed having the kitchenette and fold-down beds in the common area (this is actually where we slept). We had our 21-month old daughter with us, so very convenient to have the ability to fix a quick snack for her. Bathroom also very large - all in all, large room for EU standards. Breakfast very good - included warm dishes (bacon, scrambled eggs, vegies) as well as fresh fruits (grapefruit, kiwi), cheeses, good assortment of breads, jams, etc. Hotel itself was nicer, more stately (check out the sun room/seating area at the back of the lobby), and larger than I expected. Service very good and our room was well-cleaned while we were out. We were able to park our rental car in a safe garage nearby for much less than the going rate in Prague (we paid 290 CK/night). Location is great - easy access to Prague Castle and Charles Bridge (and hence Old Town/New Town). People who say it's far to walk (which I don't understand) will have difficulties properly exploring Prague anywhere they stay, since the city has much to see, but best on foot. If the Charles bridge is too far for them, there is another bridge even closer that one can take (2 short blocks away) to cross the river. There are also restaurants nearby (and a small grocery) that won't charge you tourist prices or try to get away with bilking you. I would highly recommend this hotel (would also be good for families) if you are looking for well-priced, decent accomodations. If you want luxury, go to the Intercontinental - but you won't get the local flair!

Beautiful vacation! Prague is a wonderful city.Very very freezing during winter time but spectacular. The residence Mala Strana we were in was really really nice, nice people, nice rooms, very good continental breakfast. We can certainly suggest this residence because it is not far from the Charles Bridge (the famous bridge of Prague) that let you enter the old city. The public transportation means are very efficient and not expensive. The restaurants in the center are very expensive but near the residence there are a lot of traditional restaurants or pubs that are very good and cheap. Better stay away from eating in the old city!! So, beautiful wonderful spectacular city!! Go there and enjoy your trip!!

Very good hotel, and very well situated : next to park and river, near town center and castle area by foot. Good breakfast : variety, quality and quantity ! Comfortable beds in quiet room on quiet road...
Many thanks to the Hotel Residence Malá Strana's managers and staff for their seriousness and hospitality, which is much appreciable.

Elegante e confortevole struttura situata in una posizione strategica che ci ha permesso di visitare a piedi tutta la città. Colazione ricca ed abbondante anche per i ritardatari (come noi!) dell'ultimo minuto!

The hotel is VERY well located, close to all main attractions at Prague. The neighborhood is very safe and quiet. I haven't heard any noise even though my room was on the first floor, turned to the street.
The staff is was VERY friendly, expecially the gentleman that stays at the reception at night. He was very kind explaining to us the places, restaurants and main attractions.
The room was clean and large enough. The breakfast was awesome, with great variety.
Residence Malá Strana was the best hotel we've stayted during our european tour and I recommend it to anyone that goes to Prague.

We stayed for just a few days and found the location to be basically where we needed. It's a 10-minute walk to a lot of the major sights (except Prague Castle). It was kind of nice not to be in the thick of everything at night, since Prague gets pretty crowded.
Breakfasts were good, with plenty of rolls, meats, and cereals, and hot food after 8. The free Internet in the lobby was a nice perk.
The only caveat was that the listing says there is free parking. There is, but they only have two spots. Most likely, if you have a car, you'll have to park at a garage a few blocks away and pay a daily fee.

Very pleasant stay. Hotel located in a convenient area of the city, very quiet. Very spacious rooms, well equipped. Very good choice for families. Staff rather friendly. Only regret: they booked a non authorized taxi for driving me to the airpot (no meter, no receipt, no way to get to the right Terminal): unpleasant.

This was my first time in Prague and would definitely return. Found Mala Strana great value in an excellent location. Tram just round the corner so easy access to all areas of the city.
Some nice local reasonably priced restarants -would recommend mexican restuarant on way to charles bridge- esp if you have a taste for mojitos!!
Only gripe was noisy builders on each morning from a building across the street -this is probably only temporary and really would not stop me staying again.

Hotel bello e situato ottimamente nel quartiere di Mala Strana, a due isolati dalla parte meridionale dell'isola di Kampa e a 10 m. a piedi dal ponte Carlo. Stanze spaziose e colazione eccellente con cereali, pane e frutta fresca, affettati, uova, caffè, latte e the in abbondanza.

Perfect location, confortable and cleaned rooms, good and rich breakfast, only problems with parking. I suggest it.

It's located in the nicest area of Prague.
it is perfect choice for speding a weekend in Prague, close to the downtown and to the main attractions. I reached any places by walk.
It is not expensive and so it can satisfy your main requirements no more.

I stayed at the Residence Mala Strana with 2 friends in May while on vacation. The room was spacious enough, with a bedroom with double bed, a convertible bed in a living area, and a small kitchen and dining area. However, the decor was very dated and the room was not well maintained. The drapes, upholstery, and bed comforter looked very old and worn. I'm allergic to dust, and found my allergies were aggravated when we were in the room, possibly from the drapes and carpet not being cleaned regularly. The room desperately needed a fresh coat of paint along with new drapes and linens. There was no air-conditioning in the room, which was a problem while we were there as it was quite hot and humid. Opening the windows did not help as there was no air circulation. We were on the ground floor in a room next to the elevator, and found it very noisy when going to sleep as we could hear everything from the hallway outside our door. We thought having a kitchen area would make our stay easier, but there were no pots to cook in! (They did however have plates and cutlery.) So we ended up eating at restaurants in the area. The other common rooms and the reception area in the hotel are much more up to date than the room we were in. The breakfast room was nice, and a good selection of breakfast foods were available every morning. The hotel location was convenient - Mala Strana is a quieter area of Prague and it's possible to walk many places. However, had we stayed somewhere else, I'm sure location would not have been a disadvantage. While the room was very affordable compared to other accomodations, I do not think I would stay here again.

The close surrounding of the hotel is probably not so pleasant. Apart from that it's a perfect choice of hotel accommodation in Prague. The best thing about the hotel is that every room has a kitchenette with basic cooking utensils. Perfect for us who prefer not to go out at night for dinner since our little one goes to bed quite early.
If possible avoid top floor. This is because the rooms do not have windows.
The breakfast, albeit pretty basic, is much better than most of other hotels of the same class I've been to.
To the old town you may need around 20 minutes by foot. Not so bad. Or else, you have the option of using tram, which is also a very convenient way to travel in the city. You could buy the tickets from the hotel's front desk.
A quick note for Muslim travellers: There is one halal takeaway near Tesco (you could ask the front desk to tell you the direction). It's not so easy to explain exactly where it is with reference to the Tesco building. But you should be able to find it if you do a bit of exploration around the shopping mall area.

The hotel had advertised WiFi Internet. But unfortunately it was not available, something important for my business travel. Staff was very helpful and professional. Room was a Jr. Suite and a great value for Venere. #9 tram to and from Museum Metro station was the most convenient.

I relied upon public transport to get us from the airport to the hotel. A number 254 bus, then a short metro journey to Dejvice then a 25 tram plus 2 minutes walk got us to the hotel - total journey time 45 minutes - no sweat.
The hotel was clean and our double room had plenty of space together with a small kitchen. The frig was a god send and with a small super market only 100metres away we could have made and eaten meals in the room and made it a very cheap stay had we wanted. Super market prices were about 65% of UK prices. The room was cleaned and tidied every day and new towels provided. I was impressed! We looked forwards to breakfast because compared to most hotels the breakfasts were special! A choice of cereals, fresh fruit, fresh kiwis, fresh grapefruit, bananas (you name it) and egg, bacon, sausage and a selection of meats, cheeses and fresh bread and rolls of the highest quality - all rounded off by a limitless supply of tea and coffee.
The Residence Mala Strana certainly met my expectations and I would give it a good 3 star rating.
The location couldn't have been handier. The Charles bridge was 12 minutes walk and Wesleslas Square about 15 minutes. But trams were always an option - I kid you not, we never waited longer than 2 minutes for a tram we wanted.
In general we really liked the hotel and the English speaking staff. I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would certainly choose it again if going to Prague. Dont expect luxury - it is plain and simple but provides everything you will need.

Really nice place to stay. I did only for 1 night but wish to have more. Spacious clean room (mine was a junior suit). A quiet street in real Prague, not a noisy tourist area but just few steps to it.

Hotel situation according to main attractions was fine, walking a little. It was end of january and was a hard snowing outside; heating was excellent. Rooms and service as promised; we were three in an wide apartment (up to five persons), a very quiet room. It needs some new furniture and repainting, but it was acceptable. WARNING!!!!: OUR ROOM WAS STOLEN, NO FORCED DOOR: money, mobile phone, ipod, cosmetics, sunglasses and one PASSPORT. Please, be extremely careful; there is not safety box. The Hotel assume not responsability, but called the police to make a denunciation. Not very adequate response for a serious incident (they was laughing and talking in czech obviously about it). Very disgusting evening, just arrived to Prague.

The hotel is good value for money in tourist hungry Prague. The location in a bit of a dingy side street does not look anything like the photo. My wife and I nevertheless enjoyed our stay and would recommend it as an economy class hotel. The breakfasts were good and the service was friendly and always available.

The hotel was very good and clean. We were disappointed with the rooms offered as they were on the top floor and only had sky-light windows, therefore we had no outlook at all. As we arrived at 10.30pm there were no other rooms available so we had to stay on the 5th floor. We also faced the front and if you had the windows open at night the sound of the traffic ie trams kept us awake but once we closed the windows it was very quiet. We stayed 4 nights at the hotel and the breakfast was very good, loads of choice and the girls serving worked very hard keeping it all topped up. We would certainly stay at the Hotel again but ask for a room on a lower floor.

Our biggest disappointment here was the location. Somehow we were expecting the hotel to be much closer to the St.Charles bridge than it actually was. Although it was walkable it was more of a hike than desired especially in the dark and empty streets, after very enjoyable evenings in the wonderfully beautiful center. The staff was friendly but not outgoing and dutifully went about their chores. The room was smaller than expected but adequate, we had no need of the kitchenette automatically provided however. We would probably not stay here again based on physical location, but the overall experience was good. The private taxi to the station was a bargain.
