The staff were all very accomodating in every respect. Special accomodations were made at breakfast to accomodate my food allergies (thank you!). Our only concern was the musty odour in our room and in the hall nearby.

Hotel generally very good. The staff spoke English and were very helpful. The hotel was let down by its catering. There were no pizzas available, and short menu was cut in half. For 3 days, there was no coffee available and the breakfast left a lot to be desired. The waiter in the end, told us to order what we wanted a day in advance from the menu. Whilst our stay was off season, I did not consider the catering facilities met a 3 star grading establishment. It may be better during the "season".We would return to the hotel again but, only on a room only basis.

Very poor quality/price ralation. The Hotel is situated near the Pompej excavations (but this is true for at least 5 hotels I saw in the area). The hotel is poor condition (one would find spots of mildew on the ceiling) and stinks. We had a double to the front and a tripple to the back. The rooms were both small and very noisy. The breakfast was not up to standard.

Hotel MEC was a great place to stay. Room was clean and ready, and we had no problem checking in at almost 11:00 PM. They are very close to the Pompei Entrance and Circumvesuviana Train Station, however they are probably 1 - 1/2 miles from the main train station. From the Train Station, go out the building, turn left, and keep start walking. If you are taking a train from Rome, get off in Naples (Napoli Central or Garibaldi station I think) and take the Circumvesuviana Train to Pompei Scavi Exit. Walk down the hill, and they are on the right just past the Auto Strada Entrance. I would stay here again. I think they are the closest hotel to Pompei Site, and a great place for the price.

Accommodations as expected, except that the air conditioning which was advertised barely worked. It was necessary to open the windows for air, which increased the effect of the considerable street noise. My trip was in mid-summer, and it was quite hot. I might rate these accommodations higher during a cooler time of year. Accommodations are only a short walk from the archaeological park.

If you can avoid staying in Pompei, do it! Pompei is a tourist trap built around the ruins. I did not feel at all comfortable in this hotel and was happy that we only stayed one day. It was a cheap highway motel type place, where they give you the TV remote when you check in along with the room key. For breakfast they bring you a stale croissant with Nutella already spread on it. They also bring you some crackers/rusk with jam. No buffet, they keep it to a bear minimum. This is the kind of hotel that you should only stay at if you have to. It is clean and has all the necessary facilities, but it is not particulary nice for a vacation. I don't recommend it at all!

MEC is very conveniently situated for visiting the ruins of Old Pompei - probably no more than 5 minutes walk. It is also handy for the Vesuvian Line station. Staff were friendly and competent, and spoke excellent English. The only downsides are the fact that it is a long walk to the new city, and the restaurant is overpriced for the quality of food provided (watch out for cover charges and service charges, which push up the price considerably, but are not listed on the menu.) That said, the waiting staff were very friendly, and the included breakfast was fine.

This is an awesome place to stay if you plan on visiting the Pompeii ruins, since the property is within a stone's throw distance away from the main entrace to the ruins. It is also very close to the train station.
