The hotel location was excellent, there were no breakfast facilities only a voucher to take elsewhere. Our bathroom was not always cleaned and a toilet seat would have been nice. The airconditioning had "do not touch" on it and was not working with temperatures of over 35º. The reading lounge was 2 seats in the reception area (the only public room) and the only items available were water and coke - beer had run out. It should be noted that the hotel is all based on the 1st floor so very unsuitable for disabled travellers. Saying all this the lady who ran it was very friendly and helpful. The plazza is lovely and there are assorted restaurants/cafes nearby. The one immediately next door is pricey but excellent.

No air conditioning or fans, very uncomfortable during hot days.

The hotel was located in the center of everything which was great. Nice restaurants downstairs, the ruins within a 20 min walk, 5 min from either train station. It was weird to give the key every time we left the hotel and having to ring the bell every time to get back in (the door is always locked). The room was ok except for the bed. The bed caves in at the middle and if there's 2 people sleeping in it you tend to roll towards the center. No breakfast. Otherwise its good....if they get a new mattress I'd stay there again. Then again I've already seen Pompei so I'm not sure I'd return

The person behind the desk as you check in spoke absolutely no English. There are alot of steps you have to bring your bags up and there is no lift. Some of the rooms are directly above a pizza parlor that plays music rather loudly at night, with the french doors shut you can still hear it. That didn't bother me, but it would some people. The location of this hotel is very good. I asked for a taxi to be called for my departure and she gave me the number but would not call one for me. Susie USA

The rooms were good. Location was excellent - walking distance to the Pompei ruins, balcony view of the piazza/Duomo, handy to nearby restuarants, groceries, bakeries, shopping, etc. Parking was on the street on reserved spaces and was convenient and safe. The Hotel rooms are one floor up with no elevator. This was not a problem for us but may be for the elderly and handicapped. I would certainly return.

Centrally situated in modern Pompei, a rather pleasant town with nice cafés and good espresso in the Neapolitan style. Some decent restaurants as well, and a lovely square with palm trees and a church in the centre. The hotel is in the southeast corner of Piazza Bartolo Longo, on the first floor of the building. The bathroom and shower was in the corridor, an acceptable arrangement from my point of view, but may be inconvenient to some travellers. The room had a small balcony with view of the square and the belltower of the Santuario, very nice perspective in the sunset. The couple in the reception was friendly, positive and helpful. If I could wish for something, it would the possibility to have at least a basic breakfast in my room (or rather at the balcony!). That would have been very nice! The hotel is conveniently situated a few hundred metres from either the Ferrovie dello Stato train station or the Circumvesuviana Pompei Santuario (do not, as I did, get off at the Circumvesuviana Pompei Villa dei Misteri station, since it's 2 km from the hotel!). Finally, Pompei is ideal for exploring the Vesuvius region, with easy access to Naples, Paestum, Vesuvius, Herculaneum and also the rest of the Bay of Naples.

The owners of this hotel appear to be trying to make a profit without too much effort. Although only a 1 star hotel the facilities were poor. The bathroom was cramped, the shower enclosure falling apart, the bidet impossible to use because of its close proximity to the shower enclosure and the toilet had no seat. The double bed frame was held to-gether with cable ties and was very noisy so that when one turned over the banging of the bed woke us up. There was no breakfast offered.

I had an excellent stay at Hotel Apollo in Pompeii. The staff were absolutely lovely-it was nice to see that it was a family-run business too. They were incredibly helpful and did their best to answer the millions of questions I asked them in broken Italian! It was a lovely stay and I had no problems there at all. It was situated on the main square in Pompeii (the nicest part) and was a few minutes walk from the ruins. When I return to the area I will definitely stay there again.

Well, I'd have been made to feel more welcome in a funeral parlour. Either this outfit had only just taken over the hotel and knew next to nothing about client satisfaction or they were just lazy and offhand. I'm only glad that I was busy during the days and had little need for the hotel facilities other than to rest my head and shower. Having been given a double room with facilities when I checked in I was told sternly the next morning that I must move rooms unless I paid an additional 30 euros per night as I had only booked a single. The alternative room offered to me, i.e. the single booked, was little more than a cupboard with shower facilities at the end of a corridor. Cheap does not have to mean bad. But towels were threadbare, sink chipped, hot water rarely available, hair dryer held together with tape, people shouting at all hours, no public facilities, breakfast was apparently bookable at a nearby cafe but no-one mentioned it, reception on first floor with no lift, tacky furniture, even paying my bill was a long drawn out affair because the receptionist had no idea how to issue a receipt. I paid by cash fearing a payment by credit card might go awry. Not a fine experience. But its very close the the main square in Pompei so close to restaurants, shops, etc and only a 10 minute walk from the site. By all means stay if you want cheap and just the right side of grim but don't expect cheeriness or a welcoming smile.
