Viva Bahia is a beautiful complex, with spacious apartments, air conditioning that actually works, a lovely pool, about 1 minute's walk from the gorgeous beach. Staff are all excellent (especially the waiting staff)and I wanted to bring my chambermaid home with me, she was so good! The only quibble we had is this no reserving of sunbeds rule, if you went down to the pool after 9am they were all reserved with the usual throwing over of towels. We tried to do the same thing a couple of mornings. If the pool-area cleaners feel like throwing your towels onto the lost/found table, then they will. But sometimes they don't! The management needs to either implement the rule, or decide that it doesn't work - it's really unfair. There were no other British families there during our visit - none at all, all German/Scandinavian. My daughter didn't take part in any of the kids' activities as she couldn't communicate with any of the other kids none of whom spoke English. If you're looking to make new English-speaking friends you need to stay in Alcudia or Pollensa! Pretty cheesy evening entertainment, but the kids like it. The complex is situated in a very quiet bay beside a few other large aparthotels, within walking distance of maybe 4 restaurants, all of which are pretty good. You need to drive or take a bus if you want more choice. I would avoid Can Picafort, it just seemed like a concrete jungle really. Head along in the other direction into the old town of Alcudia, it is a lovely setting with some great Tapas restaurants. All in all, gorgeous place to stay, very quiet, great for families but if you're Brits then don't expect to have anyone else to talk to unless you can speak German/Swedish/Danish etc etc!!
