Whilst the hotel may appear to be a bit dated with old furniture and fixtures La Pace restored my faith in good old fashioned service. The room was spacious and bed comfortable. The breakfast was very good with a massive choice of items. The hotel was ideally situated near the station and only a short walk to the Tower. However Pisa is only worth a day or two andI suggest you head for Florence. There are plenty of trains at a cost of just over 5 euros each way.

This is a lovely little place with an amazing location (just around the corner from the Duomo). There are quite a few stairs to get up to the hotel, but I found that common in Italy. It is a very quiet place, with a nice breakfast spread every morning. I stayed in a small, single room with the bathrooms down the halls, but that was no problem. The price was great. I imagine the "upstairs" rooms are quite a bit bigger. I had a great three night stay here.

Very good location if arriving or departing by train although the location of the entrance down an arcade is a bit off putting. Room nothing special but very clean with a comfortable bed and nice bathroom and overall excellent value for money. All the staff we met were very helpful and efficient. The American Bar was very popular, possibly due to the torrential rain in the evening, but our drinks came with complementary snacks which were very nice. The breakfast was by far the best we had in Italy. It is about a 25/30 minute walk to the Leaning Tower via the main shopping area. We would recommend this hotel for anyone wanting somewhere inexpensive for a day or so in Pisa.

Hotel was good value for money. Room was clean, but decor and lighting were a bit gloomy.Staff were very helpful and hotel bar was pleasant, with excellent bar staff and reasonable prices. Hotel entrance is not in a good position, in an arcade with a few odd people hanging around at night.

We stayed only one night. Hotel is near station and because of that there was a lot of people around hotel drinking, selling diferent things but thay didn't disturb us. We had only a breakfast in hotel and it was usual.

I think the hotel is a little dated especially the bedrooms. However they were clean and comfortable and that is what counts. Although a full restaurant menu is not offered, food is available in the American Bar within the hotel.A fine spread of meats, cheeses, breads and side dishes. Best of all it was the cheapest we had eaten and pretty much the best! The hotel is very close to the train station (50m or so) and therefore some of the people hanging around were a little intimidating.Great place to stop over for Pisa airport, €3 each to use the hotel transfer which was great. The food, extremely friendly staff, and location were worth the slightly off putting area La Pace is in. I would use it again if staying over for the airport.

Clean hotel with good breakfast and bar facilities. Great position for travelling by rail and only 10 minutes walk from main town area. No outlook from rooms but this also means they are quiet. Would return.

We used La Pace as short-stay location only. Hotel has a shuttle service from the airport which was great if you are flying in late at night. It is located near the railway station but a 15/20 minute walk to the main tourist area's of interest, across on the other side of the river. It is slightly of the main road so rooms are not subject to noice. It has a slight dated feel but is clean. Breakfast area and fare was good.

The hotel is placed in an ideal location for anyone who needs to be close to the airport or railway station. The staff are very welcoming and competent. A good selection of cereals, ham, cheese, bread rolls, yogurts and pastries are served for breakfast in a spacious area. A small number of good restaurants are close by. The room we stayed in was clean but quite small and we could hear people moving around in other parts of the hotel. It is about a 20/30 minute walk to the tower from the hotel which was not a problem for us as we enjoy walking and the route is through the main shopping area. We would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relatively inexpensive place to stay in Pisa.

Excellent position close to the station, and easy to find. Lovely room, breakfast was fantastic, and transfer to airport excellent. Only slight problem was noise in the room coming from upstairs, and due to chairs scraping on a hard floor. Overall excellent value for money.

A brief summary for our English speaking friends : nice hotel, very well situated if you arrive by train, or even by plane since the station is five minutes from the airport by bus or train. The leaning tower is a bit far, around 20 minutes on foot, but the walk is quite nice to visit Pisa which is a small town. The rooms are nice, clean, quite big, bathroom is all right, and breakfast is excellent and varied, provided you don't go for breakfast too late since you'll have what's left, and that's not much!

We found it difficult to find by car and the internet map was not detailed enough.
Internet facilities at the hotel were difficult to use and staff had difficulties in rectifying them.
On all other matters the staff were very helpful.
Location near the railway station was important for us for our onward journey.

This was a perfect place for my 8-person group to spend the last night of our 2-1/2 week stay in Italy. Convenient, easy to find location -- literally right across the street from the Pisa Centrale train station, with many convenient restaurants and shopping within a block or two. The main attraction (Leaning Tower, etc.) a leisurely 20-minute walk away. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The common areas beautiful. Good breakfast buffet, and free hors douerves during cocktail hour, at least the night we were there. Rooms are tiny and could be a little cleaner (some dust bunnies in the corners), but acceptable overall, especially for one night. Surrounding area could be a bit dicey at night -- wouldn't want to wander around alone after dark. But, overall, the many positives outweigh the few negatives, and especially if you're coming in by train, I would recommend this place for one or two nights, which is all you really need to spend in Pisa anyway.

We were impressed by the closeness to the train station. It made it so easy to navigate the area. since we were unfamiliar with Pisa.
Also the staff was great! They went out of their way to be helpful, pleasant and kind. Maps were provided, suggestions for dinner, directions, etc.
We enjoyed it so much that we recommended it to friends we ran into in Florence! They stayed a night on their way to Rome so they could see the city. The breakfast was exceptional in variety and quality. We would highly recommend staying at this hotel.

My sister and I stayed here in a room with twin beds for one night, prior to flying back to the U.S. Location is very close to Pisa Centrale train station--two blocks or so. The room was clean but had minimal furnishings--which were just adequate, not great, and had a slightly unpleasant (disinfectant?) smell. However, the breakfast room is large and very pleasant, and the breakfast service was lovely and included hard-boiled eggs and ham and cheese, along with the regular offerings. -- The reception desk was friendly and helpful. They also have a shuttle service to the Pisa airport--free, as I recall, though we tipped the driver.

My friend and I were only in Pisa for a weekend and this was the first time we had stayed in the Hotel La Pace and we were more than satisfied with our choice. The hotel sent a mini bus to pick us up at the airport which was only ten minutes away. I was a little apprehensive as I had read the reviews which mentioned that access was through a seedy alleyway but I didn't find it a problem and it didn't feel at all seedy and we were in and out at all times. The hotel was clean and typically Italian. The staff were very helpful and friendly and our evenings always ended up in the bar which was manned by the same friendly staff and there was always a lovely array of nibbles to go with our drinks. Breakfast was great with loads of different choices. Proximity of the hotel was ideal close to the station and all amenities. The Leaning Tower was an interesting 15 - 10 minute walk away - longer if you decided to stop off at once of the many tempting cafes along the way. If I ever go to Pisa again I would definitely stay at this hotel.

a very poor entrance coming from the station
to my opinion you canot offer this hotel as a three stars.
room very small and the bathroom scored a world record in space. I could not turn in the shower, it was so small. I could not pick up the fallen peace of soap.
on the other hand the breakfast was very could
and the waiters very friendly.

Room could of been cleaner, but apart from that a really good hotel. excellent choice at breakfast, really friendly staff. Bar was pleasant and we chose to eat in the hotel as we were tired from travelling. Bar offered excellent choice of finger foods which were free of charge such as sundried tomatoes, olives, artichokes bread etc, which went down very well with a local wine!
would stay here again.

Single room. Similar comments to others, nothing fancy but delivers on what you pay for. Helpful, friendly and very responsive staff. Facilities to leave laptops and bigger objects in large safe. Extremely convenient to train station, 2 mins away. 10mins walk from old and lively center of town. Buffet breakfast included with pastries, cheese, meats, cereals, etc. Overall very good value.

This hotel was as expected was ok for late night arrival and one day stay. Asked for pick up at airport and was not dissapointed 3 euro each cost added to bill next day. Hotel location/surroundings weren't great but made up for by the fact that as viewed on Venere it was very convenient for train station, however was made up for by the friendliness of staff.Next day, young lady on reception helped us with train timetable, she spoke very good English.

My husband and I booked into La Pace principally because earlier reviews mentioned that it had a shuttle service to the airport in Pisa, and we had an Easyjet flight leaving early in the morning the day after our arrival. The hotel was different from how we had imagined it - it was extremely close to the station, which was great as we were trailing a 5 year old and suitcases, but the hotel entrance was in a really sketchy neighborhood of shops surrounded by trash and graffiti. Once inside the lobby, however, it was like stepping into another world. The decor at the hotel is garish but in a kitschy way - an English phone box, an aquarium and the usual bad lobby paintings. The room, however, was a surprise - an all marble bathroom, walk-in closet and a balcony - it's very station hotel from the 1940's, I felt. We had 2 adjoining rooms and they were clean and spacious. The breakfast the next morning was the most varied and plentiful we had seen in our travels - everything from boiled eggs, scrambled eggs, bacon, cereals, fruits, yoghurts, Danishes etc to made-to-order cappucinos etc. While we were eating, one of the staff came round and gave my daughter a free "I love Hotel La Pace" pink T-shirt which made her very happy. We also found the hotel to be very accessible for the bus ride to the Piazza dei Miracoli and the Leaning Tower, which went from just outside the station. Tickets can be purchased from the tobacconist's inside the station, and it's a 10 minute ride. We stayed at La Pace on June 30, 2007 and paid 141 euros for 2 adjoining rooms including breakfast. The hotel shuttle we reserved the night before and it cost very little and took us straight to the airport in less than 10 minutes - very handy! For anyone traveling by train or plane to/ from Pisa, I would recommend this hotel. Don't be put off by the neighborhood! The only problem we had was with how long we had to wait for an elevator as there are 5 or more floors - a helpful maid pointed o

Very friendly staff. Our room was double booked, but they provided us an alternative 4* hotel without surcharge. The view from the top of the hotel over Pisa is absolutely breathtaking.

Clean, and rooms are about average size for a three star hotel. Convenient to airport and steps from train station. About a 20 minute walk from the Leaning Tower. Secure parking. Rented a car at the airport. Pisa streets are tough to fathom, even with GPS. Very helpful staff, most of whom are multi-lingual. Good value.

Courteous staff, helpful and eager to please.
Located in an area typical of that near a railway station but the hotel was better than the surrounding area.
Room as described and quieter than the area would have led to expect.
Varied breakfast (continental and British style) of good quality.
Free shuttle bus to the airport was an unexpected bonus.
I would recommend this to others.
