Breakfast was very good by Paris standard. Great location, quality of room for the price. Excellent post-stay service as my daughter's 13 year-old teddy bear was located and mailed to us within 10 days to Hong Kong in pristine condition. Definitely will return for re-stay. Lifts could be improved.

Rooms are very small and without a lot of storage space, but the staff are friendly and the location superb. The breakfast area is very nice, even if the service is somewhat erratic - there seemed to be a permanent shortage of large plates. Depending on where your room is located, you'll need to use the side elevator not to have to carry your bags through a short flight of steps -something the front desk staff didn't warn us about. All in all (given prices for four-star hotels) not a bad buy.

Very nice hotel with a very good breakfast and in a very good location. The metro is very near and also Place Vendome, Place de la Concorde and The Louvre. The room is not very large but is good. The air conditioning works well and the bathroom is good. The LCD TV is also very good (LOEWE). It also had a minibar with all the stuf you'l need. The employees are very nice.

During our stay, a fire (not at the hotel) caused a 2 day power outage in the entire district, including the Louvre. The staff went above and beyond to help relocate us to another hotel for one night, arranging transportation both ways, and bringing in extra help. They helped to carry luggage down the stairs from our 6th floor room. All of this with no electricity and working all day and into the night by flashlights. As others have mentioned, the rooms are small, typical for Paris inner city. However, that is why we booked the larger "superior" room, which is still reasonably priced for this prime location in Paris.

Just spent a night there. I chose this hotel because it was close to shoppping area of rue de rivoli and st honoré as well as the very centre with le louvre, musée d'orsay, notre dame, quartier marais, and quartier latin within walking distance. Underground station and bus stops also nearby. Considering the location, it was not awfully expensive (I recommend taking a privilege room as they are more spacious, and the breakfast restaurant cellar downstairs tastefully decorated despite the striking choice of whites and blacks. By the way, the buffet breakfast was excellent and the waitresses specially attentive. The room We were given was spacious with a huge double bed, fridge and tea facilities, good tv set, air-conditioning, hair-drier in bathroom, which was equally spacious. The only thing is that some items in the room (carpet, sanitaries...) had seen too many guests and showed the evidence of the ageing process: investments needed!!!

Stayed in double room, previous comments have noted that the rooms were small but we found ours to be very spacious. The air conditioning was priceless. The hotel is about 5 minutes walk from the nearest metro stop and about 10 minutes walk from the Louvre. There wasn't a lot of noise at night as the hotel is down a side street and the pubs/clubs are a little further away but still within walking distance. Overall we would definitely stay at the Duminy Vendome again, 10 out of 10 for location.

IT WAS JUST OK. GIVEN WHAT I KNOW NOW I WOULD NOT HAVE SYAYED THERE. BECAUSE OF NOISE AND SMALLNESS OF ROOM WE ELECTED TO MOVE TO A LARGER MORE EXPENSIVE ROOM AFTER THE FIRST NIGHT,FOR AN ADDITIONAL 60 EURO'S.I HAD STAYED IN THE WESTIN A YEAR AGO BUT THEIR PRICES WERE OUT OF OUR RANGE THIS TRIP, AS IS ALMOST ALL OF PARIS AND EUROPE NOW.I HOPE THE DOLLAR RECOVERS SOME.

We were travelling as a group of 3 (a young couple plus one parent) and needed 2 rooms in Paris at very short notice. Duminy Vendome was able to provide us with a double and a single room, close to each other and on the same floor. The rooms were exactly what we needed for a weekend in Paris: clean, room enough for us, close to the sights, cafes and restaurants. Staff were courteous and helpful; when a bulb blew in our bedside lamp it was replaced immediately. With facilities like room service, cable television and a delightful bar area downstairs, this hotel is excellent value for money.

very good location, 100m from Place Vendome.Easy walking distance of the main tourist attractions. Affluent area with lots of upmarket shops.Friendly and welcoming front desk. Room size reasonable for Paris, given location and price. Central heating, a/c and opening windows so ventilation is unlikely to be a problem, even in high summer. Room size and fittings did not quite match the site photos but fine by Paris standards. The one jarring note in the room was the sweaty plastic undersheet, which was more appropriate to hostel accommodation and the first we have encountered in seven visits to Paris. In summer, allow time for removal before going to bed! Room sound insulation pretty typical. Passed on breakfast. You can do better for €17 in any of the local cafes and enjoy a better ambience. Glad that we stayed in this part of Paris this time and very happy with the hotel choice.

The main complaint I have is the bed. It was lumpy and uncomfortable. The bathroom was large, but old; and the faucets were difficult to turn. The staff was pleasant, spoke english, but nothing special. The location of the hotel was fabulous. It made up for all the negatives.

This was a perfect location. The hotel was quite adequate for a short stay, but if you like styling your hair bring your own dryer! The one in the bathroom was useless. Breakfast is too expensive at €17each, we had coffee and croissants for €10 in a nearby cafe. Staff were very nice although we didn't need them that much. The outstanding virtue of this hotel is its location. A little tricky to find at first, but brilliant once you've got your bearings.

Posizione fantastica a un minuto dai giardini Tuileries o place vendome. Hall elegante, camere e bagni nuovi, televisore cristalli liquidi. Set cortesia in bagno e biancheria cambiata ogni giorno. Bollitore e occorrente per farsi un te o caffe. Riscaldamento perfetto. Non so dare giudizi per la colazione perchè sempre fatta fuori. Consiglio vivamente.

The hotel was great. The location is very close to a metro station and some restaurants including a great chinese restaurant across the street. The neighborhood is nice and clean with another nice but pricier hotel across the street as well. The Louvre is just a couple blocks walk. We walked from the hotel to Louvre, Notre Dame, Musee de Orsay, Eiffel Tower, etc. Eiffel tower is quite a walk but doable! Metro is also convenient. We travelled with three older children (20, 17 and 14) and booked a double and a triple. It was great for all of us. The breakfasts were also very nice. It was located downstairs in a very cheerful breakfast room. The staff were extremely helpful. I would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to anyone!

Very enjoyable stay. There was a transit strike when we were there so being so close to all of the attractions meant we could walk to a lot of them. We had a superior room which was a nice size for 2 of us. My mother in law had a standard room and it was adequate for her but would have been too cramped for 2 of us. Staff were friendly and helpful.

my wife, daughter and i spent three days at the duminy vendome and although a little cramped for three people, the room, amenities and service were excellent. i especially enjoyed the breakfast. well prepared, delicious choices, fresh juices and priced fairly given what you can get out on the street. we would certianly stay again. even on the last day with a strike of metro services, the front desk arranged taxi service, i'm sure at no small inconvenience.

I have never written a review of a hotel before but this time I felt I must as it played an important part in my recent stay in Paris. The most important thing I must note about the hotel is its excellent location. With the help of the map (which is provided free at the reception), it did not take long to figure where we were in the scheme of things. The hotel is so central that a list of major sites ranging from the Eiffel Tower, The Louvre (which is situated a couple of blocks from the hotel), Champs Elysees, Musee D’orsay, Galleries Lafayette, Printemps were accessible by foot. The hotel was also within walking distance to a host of different restaurants, patisseries and shops. The staff were friendly and the gentleman at the front desk was welcoming. Before retiring to our room, he took a map and started circling points of interest for us which made things a whole lot easier as we could plan what we wanted to do quickly. I believe our room was the standard deluxe room and although it was not the largest room around, it was still comfortable and clean. The LCD television mounted on the wall added a nice touch to the room. The bathroom was not large as well but it had ample space to do what needed to be done and it was clean. The cleaning staff were very friendly and they did a great job in tidying the room while we were out. Check out was done with ease and the hotel helped us arrange a taxi the day before which came promptly. All in all, a very comfortable stay and will not hesitate to stay there again in the near future.

I would have given the overall stay a higher score, but it was so loud I could hardly sleep. We paid the extra money to stay in the privelge room, unfortunately, we were placed on the first floor right next to the staircase on the street side of the hotel. I would think that the privelge rooms would be on a higher floor facing the court yard. The hotel was next to an Irish pub which you could hear until late at night and being on the street side, we heard trash pick up every morning at 6AM. As far as a quiet hotel , this is not it. We stayed near the airport for a couple of nights and that was quieter! However, the service was great and the rooms were clean.

The hotel is in a lovely building in an outstanding location - 2 minutes walk to the Tuileries metro station and 5 minute walk to the Louvre. Our room was charming and well decorated, but very small. I wouldn't recommend either the internet access or the breakfast as both were ridiculously expensive, but other than that it was a very pleasant stay.
Uruguay, Aug 2007
My daughter and I stayed for two nights towards end August 2007. Location was excellent; a couple of blocks from Tuileries and Place Vendome. Room was simply decorated with taste, and both room and bathroom were clean and quite comfortable. The room had two windows facing the street on a first floor, but was rather quiet. Elevator and air conditioner a plus. Price was adequate, maybe not so against the US dollar. Receptionist was amiable and professional. I spoke French, but might not have made the difference cause he was very helpful to others as well. Hotel muy recomendable, sencillo, de buen gusto, limpio, y con una gran ubicacion a una cuadra de los Jardines Tuileries. Ascensor y aire acondicionado. Personal profesional y cordial.

We were quite happy with this hotel. Centrally located, just up the road from the Louvre and Champs Elysees. Bit of a walk to the Eiffel Tower but that kept us healthy!!! We were in Paris 4 nights and loved it. This hotel is also central to eateries and the Rue Rivoli is one street down which is definitely bustling!!! Staff were pleasant and helpful and the room, even though it was long and skinny, still had enough room for us - my husband, myself and our 21 year old daughter. Met a lovely couple from Melbourne and were able to help them with sites because we were leaving the next day and they had only just arrived. Lovely to hear Aussie accent.

I booked our rooms at this hotel because of the positive comments on venere. The hotel lived up to our expectations. I would recommend upgrading to a privelege room as this is an excellent size for Paris. The standard is very small but workable. The rooms were very clean and excellently furnished. The bathroom was great! Don;t go for the expensive breakfast, there are several great patisseries and cafes in the immediate vicinity. The location could not have been better, walking distance to so much great stuff. I have already recommended the hotel to friends planning a trip in September. It is a very good value.

We was in the hotel in the Easter week and they give us a privilege room in the same price as we reserved in Venere and this is the half price as we show in the price card in the hotel. The room was lovely, clean and espacious. We hadn't any problem with the personal but one woman didn't give us any turistic information like the terminal of our departure flight. At least I think that she could made a calling phone to help us! Is very very good located with the subway just two minutes from the hotel and the posibility to go walking to al lot of turistics places.

Friendly, personal service; I had to call to make a change to my booking and they remembered our conversation when I arrived. Excellent central location, making it possible to walk to many places of interest and lots of shops, yet in a quiet street. Good value given the location. The room was comfortable for one person and the bed a good size. The air conditioning wasn't working when I was there, but maybe April is out of season! I didn't take breakfast but at 17 Euros it needed to be good. I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

We loved this hotel. Right in the middle of the 1st district, it was easy to walk to all the major attractions, about 30 min walk to the Eiffel Tower and less for everything else. Probably the most affluent area in Paris judging by the shops and cars. The hotel was great and the pictures didnt do it justice. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful in booking some adventures for us. The only negative would be the noise however I understand that most hotels in Paris are a bit noisy because they are old buildings, but the room was huge, king size bed and still plenty of room, huge bathroom. There was no stand up shower though, the shower rose was mounted on the bath and you either had to use it by hand or sit in the bath. But our 4 nights cost 500 euros which we thought was a bargain and we would definitely recommend the deluxe rooms to anyone. You will love the area and the big room was a must if you plan on shopping

The hotel was a bit hard to find at first while lugging a large suitcase, but once found, it was very convenient. My stay was for both business and pleasure and lasted three days. The room on the top floor was comfortable. On the second of three nights, my wallet was stolen by a pickpocket at 5:30 PM coming out of the Tuileries Metro Station following a business meeting in the Paris suburbs. The staff helped me to find phone numbers for credit card companies and instructed me on dialing. Having to make four phone calls to the USA from my room, I was pleasantly surprised to see that added a total of only 9 Euros to my bill. The hotel was convenient to Place Vendome and Place de la Concorde, as well as the Louvre. Internet service and computer was available for .35 Euros / minute, and I rarely ever saw anyone in the 24-hour bar. The hotel was affordable, comfortable, and offered good service in a decent location, and I was very pleased overall.

The directions from airport to hotel were very good and the hotel is excellently situted for the Louvre and surrounding areas A 30min walk through the gardens near the Louvre will get you to the Arc-de-Triumph and 45 mins walk to the Eiffell tower, maps very easy to follow. Walking to the sights is very easy and safe to do. The breakfast offered at the hotel was very expensive, so we ate out at the cafes on the back streets which were much much cheaper, avoid the ones on the main tourists routes as they are very expensive for the same food as the back street cafes. Buy your water from the supermarket/grocer/seven eleven shops rather than the stands near the attractions. Get to the Eiffel tower early in the morning 9-9.30am as the queue's are enormous if you arrive mid morning. You will need no less than 4hrs to quickly go around the Louvre otherwise a full day is required to see everything in there.

Caution - the breakfast is automatically added to the bill at 16 Euros per person so beware of this. Venere's reservation system was easy! We did everything online and our room was exactly what we requested. We stayed at the Duminy Vendome for part of our honeymoon. The location was fantastic--very close to the Louvre and Place de Concorde. We had a very helpful staff, who spoke fluent English. Also, we would highly recommend paying for a Privelege Room, which was a little larger than the regular rooms in the hotel. The housekeeper was especially friendly and service was timely. The only thing really missing in the room was a safe (although there was one available at the front desk).

Positive: Excellent location, quiet street. Coffee and tea in room(privilege room) free of charge. Nice staff. To be improved: paper walls conveying low tone discussions from other rooms, not to mention succesfull dates :) Annoyingly small and slow lifts. Issue handling: in the opposite room they inserted air conditioning system on that week we were there. It meant drilling and hammering from 9-17. When I stated that this is not what I paid for they rearranged working hour to our needs and gave discount on first day. Overall: I would recommend to romantic seekers, our Louvre fanatics.

The only negative comment i can say is that the hotel is quite noisy. However, the location of the hotel more than makes up for this as you are right in the centre of everything. One last thing, make sure you put your DO NOT DISTURB sign up before you go to bed, as the maids tend to try and get in and clean your room at 8.30 am!

Location, Location , Location !! Hotel is 1 block from the Louve and in a great neighborhood. The metro was around the corner; it was the best location we could have chosen. I was slightly disappointed in our room since we had rented the “Privilege” room. It was a little smaller than I expected. I requested an upgrade but was told this was it. Our friends had a basic standard room and it seem that the only difference between both rooms was that we had an extra single bed in our room that we had to use for our luggage as there were no luggage racks; the room also had a bidet while the standard room did not. We did have 3 windows that overlooked a courtyard but we are city slickers that like to see streets and traffic and noise. Of course, the bathroom was huge with great tile work as it seems are all bathrooms in European hotels. The hotel was spotlessly clean with a rather elegant decor, the beds were very comfortable and the staff very professional. We would definitely stay there again. The nearby tourist bureau was quite unfriendly, however; I felt they did not like Americans at all even though we were speaking French (poorly). That one employee was the only rude person we encountered in all of Paris…. such a shame.

Excellent location close to the Louvre and two of the bus tour companies were five minutes walk away. We are a family of five and we booked two rooms which ended up on different floors. If a family books two rooms they should at least be on the same floor or better still, next to each other. The breakfast was basic but adequate and compared favourably cost wise with eating at one of the local cafes. Our rooms appeared to have been renovated faily recently, bathrooms good and all very clean. We would happily stay there again.

Two "dings" on this nice hotel (which I would visit again anyway). There is no noticeable way to contact the desk or housekeeping noted on the phone nor is there any further info provided at the desk in the room. [I found the extra roll of toilet paper hidden behind the big bath towel, so emergency was averted.] The other item is removing mildew from the tub area. Needed a little work on the parts you don't readily see. I didn't spend time in the room, so these little things didn't bother me. Just noted here as something the hotel needs to take care of. The location is great for taking in all the sites of Paris. Breakfast was available down the street for 6Euro, (10Euro is you wanted eggs, etc.). On my return visit, I will ask for the same room which faced the interior courtyard.

a good hotel 3 stars placed in a central zone, the 1° arrrondissement, that is an elegant and refined district.

Paris hotel was located centrally right across from the Louve. We got the on off bus for sightseeing as didnt want to miss anything in this beautiful city. Not the cheapest place to eat but all of Europe seemed expensive to eat. Only hotel booked off this sight that did not include compilmentary breakfast.

One opens the door and, you are in bed, there isn't even enough room to put down you suit case. The bed cover was stained from some previous love fest and hadn't been washed in ages. To stay there again one would have to pay me. No phone directory in the room nor on the phone itself, to call the frontdesk - how - one better goes there personally. The Location is the best thing about this Hotel. There is an International one across the street, perhaps a bit more expensive but I'm quite sure well worth it.

We found the Duminy Vendome hotel a very convenient place to stay. Good value for money and at an excellent location in Paris. We would surely recommend this to others!

You would stay at this hotel just for the location - excellent spot in walking distance of the Louvre, Champs-Elysees and L'Arch du Triumph. We picked the more expensive of the two rooms available and thought the room was quite big given all that we had read about tiny rooms in Paris hotels. Less than a block from the metro - would def recommend.

We stayed 3 nights (26-28 Dec 2005) in a "Privilege 2pers" room on the 3rd floor, overlooking Rue de Mont Thabor. UPSIDE: LOCATION - apart from promixity to the Louvre, Jardins des Tuileries, etc, it's minutes from the Tuileries Metro station, and there are LOTS of restaurants, bars and cafes to walk to. SIZE - big bedroom, big (pink marble!) bathroom. SERVICE - very helpful. Charming receptionist rummaged through a collection of electrical adapters to find the right one for our transformer to charge cellphones and camera battery. Another one looked up train schedules from the Gard du Nord. DOWNSIDE: NOISE - we were woken up at 7:15am every morning by garbage trucks working their way down the street, picking up and slamming down garbage bins. Late on our 2nd night, we thought our room had been invaded; turned out to be guests in the room next to ours. Paper thin walls. BED - a little hard! SUMMARY: We loved the Duminy Vendome except for the noise. But I notice no one else mentions it so perhpas rooms elsewhere in the hotel are quieter. We didn't ask for another room, and if we could guarantee a quieter room, we'd try the Duminy again.

The room and washroom are way bigger than we thought. The location is great and closed to metro station, restaurants and tourist sites. I'll definitely stay in Duminy Vendome if I go to Paris again.

Excellent location, very nice rooms and great bathrooms. Only problem was they have NO non-smoking rooms. Paris has a high concentration of smokers and it was rough not being able to get away from the stench of cigarette smoke even in your hotel room.

We had a wonderful time and the staff were friendly and helpful. My husband is insulin dependant diabetic and it was helpful to have a small fridge in the bedroom for storeage purposes. They let us leave our luggage in a locked storeroom after check-out until we fetched it late afternoon.

We had a great 4 days stay at Duminy Vendome, we stayed in the privelege room, and for the price of the room it couldn´t be better. The room was clean with a big bathroom, and the location of the hotel is perfect. Recommend to eat breakfast at one of the many nice restaurants/cafés close to the hotel. Will stay here again:-)
