As our trip was very last minute this was one of the few available hotels. Now I understand why! I am a regular traveller and this is without a doubt one of the most depressing hotels I've stayed in.
The welcome was non existant. The only words spoken by the 'receptionist' were those used to scream at the porter to take our bags to our room.
I am a fluent Italian speaker and asked about breakfast times and other things. She was rude and curt.
Our room wasa highly depressing in comparison to other 2* hotles I've stayed at. Not one picture on the wall and there was a canister of filthy water from the air con right next to the bed with no attempt made to hide it.
The price is ok but I've had much better accommodation in 2* hotels in both Sicily and the mainland.
I would avoid the place unless, like us, you leave it too late to book somewhere else.

uneven competence amongst employees (1 excellent, 2 poor)
Window shield blocked since years, hot water had difficulties to reach 4th floor.
However: good stay overall. Quiet room for Palermo. Very close to station and to city transportation.

What can I say about this hotel? Perhaps the rudest staff I have ever met in my life (particularly the man working behind the front desk on Wednesday evening).
The hotel advertises a 24 hour bar yet they look at you as if you are mad for asking for a beer past 11, then mutter insults under their breath at you in italian.
And what a friendly bunch they are in Palermo! Any Newcastle fans, take note. They throw bricks, bottles and stones indiscriminately at women, Children and men for the heinous crime of being a West Ham United / English football supporter.
I got the general impression from my stay at the hotel sausele that the English are regarding as scum and this was proved by the discraceful treatment of peaceful football supporters in the city.
Considering the friendly welcome their supporters were given in London two weeks earlier, I was sickened by the hostility our fans recieved.
Inept, rude hotel staff who mock you simply for trying to be courteous and speak their language (even if you are doing it badly) and a generally nasty atmosphere surrounding the whole place.
All this for 112 euros to stay in a room that resembles a prison cell.

Buon rapporto prezzo qualità e ottima posizione..

I found a quote for the same hotel 15 euro per night cheaper than on venere.com on viamichelin.com!
Furthermore I saw other 2** hotels in sicily with newer rooms, more modern restrooms and nicer surrounding for 50-70 euro per night instead of more than 90 euro as at Sausele Hotel.

A good hotel but with the main drawbacks of the city of Palermo: people quite nice but with a very poor level in English for some of them (not all, fortunately). The rooms are very clean and employee nice but the ratio price/quality is a little be poor.

Good location and easily accessible from main train station. Reasonably warm welcome by Sicilian standards and the bedroom was more spacious than expected with a fine high ceiling. While the room was dull, it was quiet and felt secure. Unfortunately, we got two flimsy single beds instead of the double bed that we had booked. Read a really negative review on Tripadvisor.com and so I was pleasantly surprised by the acccommodation and our overall experience at The "Sausele" was better than expected.

The hotel was fine - we only stayed for one night but it was just what we needed as a stop-off in Palermo and we would use it again. We arrived late at night but that was no problem (cleared this with an exchange of emails beforehand).
The hotel is very convenient for Palermo station and therefore in rather busy area so perhaps not the place to go if you are very sensitive to street noise etc.

This hotel was really horrible and I regret staying there. The owners/staff were not polite and were neither helpful or adequate in dealing with simple requests. The showers were extremely small and the water was sometimes brown. The bed was actually a cot and thus uncomfortable and noisy. There was no TV but at least there was air conditioning and it was adequately clean. I made the mistake of having breakfast and was horrified to find out that a piece of bread and stale coffee cost 6 euros. The hotel is located a couple of blocks from the bus station and the area lacks much. I choose it to be near the buses but later discovered that the bus system was extremely good and frequent from the centre to the station and choosing a more central location would have been wiser and still convenient and definitely prettier. I think the main problem is the price vs the quality. I have been in less expensive places in major Italian cities and a lot better quality. The hotel is not worth the stars on its doors.

Sausele was practical Hotel: the room was clean, bathroom good etc. The staff were not particularly friendly and the breakfast was just coffee and bread, and a glass of fruit juice when asked for. No frills accomodation!!

As I only stayed for 1 night and did not have time to stay for breakfast in the morning the only comments i can make are in respect of the room occupied as a sleep over. For that purpose it was adequate although i would like to have seen an earlier breakfast.

This hotel is in an excellent location for those who will be using public transportation to get around Sicily. The 109 bus stops in front of the hotel and goes to Piazza Independencia. The hotel is two easy blocks from the train station and the major bus stops.

dear sir
the welcome was non existant. I was oblidged to veiw three rooms before one was vaguely satisfactory and there is a real problem with water pressure.the water in the shower is a bad joke, it trickles out of the shower head, not what one desires after a long voyage. The staff are not at all friendly and the breakfast ,lets say we ate out after the first day.I think the photos were fine and the first impression is good but as I said before this is immediatly broken by the rudeness of the staff.
I spend at least two weeks of every month in one hotel or another throughout Europe in a variety of hotels from luxury to mid range so I feel justified in giving a reasonable opinion. In general I found most of the hotels I stayed in the staff were poorly lacking in manners which suprised me greatly. I realise that Scicily is provincial and that international standards should not always be expected when one leaves a major capital but I also believe that the hospitality industry has the most important role in the future development of a countries tourist industry.
On my return visit to Palermo I decided to book three nights in the Grand Villa Igea. Here, after initially speaking to a" MARIANNA" I was put on hold for a good thirty minuites before I hung up the phone and tried calling again. The same person answered the phone immediatly and when I politely expressed my suprise was derectly passed to "Carmello" who said that I could have a room for 400 ETC EUROS a night but he couldnt be sure at that price that he could provide me with a double bed. Yes this suprises me in a hotel of that standing and reputation. His solution was for me to turn up and see if it might be possible. needless to say I chose another hotel.
The centrale Palace Hotel; The rooms are good but need painting and once again the staff were impolite. When I say staff I MEAN THE RECEPTION PEOPLE. THE FACE OF THE HOTEL SO TO SPEAK.
The most efficient hotel where the staff were charming and he

The property was located in the worst area of town and tourbooks actually told us to stay away from the area. There was no indication of this in the reviews. We quickly left the hotel after a stay of one night and found a nicer hotel with a better location for the same price.

not a great place to stay, but functional. the employees were nice enough, but speak little english. it was just drab and the room had no tv and was pretty bland. but everything in palermo is pretty drab and run down. maybe it's part of the charm of this fascinating city. i chose the hotel because of price and ease of access from the airport bus, which drops you off at central station. so it's location is convenient. wouldn't necessarily come back if i could get something a bitt more cheery at the same price.
