Third time at this hotel and the standards are as high as ever. Very professional staff, lovely room overlooking Via Roma and the old town. Big bonus is the roof terrace where you have breakfast and can relax in the evening with magnificent views of the city one way and the sea the other. Breakfast is varied and fresh and even the coffee is proper coffee. Excellent location, near the station and the historic centre.

This hotel, with spacious, clean, comfortable rooms, was well located near the historic sights of Palermo. The balcony where we had breakfasts was exceptional, providing us with glorious views of the whole city. This was the perfect place to start our vacation of Sicily.

Great hotel, ideally located. The roof terrassse is definitely a must and a great way to start your day in Palermo. Very friendly and helpful staff. Incredible stay in Palermo, would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to travel to Palermo and I will undoubtedly go back to thel Ambasciatori next time I go to Palermo!

This hotel has several great strengths, and a few weaknesses. The strengths include an excellent location on one of the main streets of Palermo--Via Roma--surrounded by attractive clothing shops and fairly close to several tourist destinations. The 16 rooms, most on the fifth floor of a large building, are fairly new, very clean and attractive, and medium in size. The hotel's roof garden, where breakfast is served, is stunning--a real winner! The staff is friendly, speaks English, and is moderately helpful with sightseeing advice.
There are a few factors which will be negatives for some. First, this is more like a B&B than a hotel--no large public spaces except for the roof garden. Second, a negative for the not-too-mobile, breakfast is 32 steps up from the fifth floor to the 7th floor roof garden. Third, access to the 5th floor B&B depends on one rather old-fashioned elevator, which works fine but sometimes gets held up on other floors. Late one evening, returning to the hotel after dinner, I waited and waited on the elevator, which never came. That's how I can tell you that there are exactly 125 marble steps from the ground floor up to the 5th floor lobby and rooms! (The elevator didn't work because someone had neglected to firmly close the door.)
The hotel has a good price-value ratio, clean attractive rooms, and a good location, and will be appreciated by most guests. However, those with mobility issues or those wanting more in the way of public rooms and service may want to splurge on one of the outlying luxury hotels.

Overall the hotel was fine. The location is great. Easy to walk from the train station to the hotel. The rooftop was spectacular, worth staying there just for that. The room was really noisy though.
What I was unhappy about is that they advertise that they provide transportation to the airport for 35 Euros. I thought this was a lot but decided to do it, for the convenience. I was told I could have this added to my bill. What happened was that a taxi was called for us. He showed up on time and was curteous, but charged me 50 Euros. I had no choice but to pay him.
They also forgot our wake up call.

I can't say enough about the hotel staff, they were the greatest I have ever encountered!! The hotel was great and has the most spectacular view of Palermo from its roof top eating area. I highly recommend to anyone, you will have a great time there. I am for sure going to stay there again.

The staff were especially welcoming and helpful in answering questions, suggesting restaurants, etc. The breakfast was plentiful, and coffee was served immediately, with a smile. The view from the breakfast room and terrace was great. Access to a computer was very helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Good location for walking the city. Convenient for the main station. Unfortunately our room was noisy (other tvs and people on stairs). The weather and our room was cold and the hotel were unable to turn on the heating until November!

We had a four night stay in Palermo. The Ambasciatore was very easy to find being on the main road a few hundred yards from the railway station. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the room was very clean and comfortable. It was a little noisy but that's what you expect on a main road. With the windows closed the air conditioning was very quiet. The roof top breakfast terrace had incredible views and was a welcome respite during the day from this noisy dirty city. Although a main shopping street during the day we did not like going out to eat at night as we did not feel safe in the badly lit side streets. We hated Palermo and if it hadn't been for the hotel we would have sought an early flight home.

The Hotel is very closed to all attractions in Palermo!!!
Very nice breakfastteracce!!! View over the old city of Palermo!
The room we have had was a little bit too small. But you can look for other rooms before taking yours. Good service.
The shower was only 50 x 50 cm.
Very friendly service at the reicept.

This is an excellent hotel with a great atmosphere. Breakfast and evening drinks on the roof terrace were a real bonus. The staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel is close to places of interest and the railway station. If you are going to Palermo you should definitely book this hotel.

Our room was located on the 5th floor, the window towards a rather lowd patio where constantly water rush disturbs your sleep when sleeping with an open window. The room was rather small, had no minibar or fridge and no parking possibility. We did not find the mentionned garage although we looked for it almost an hour. Going by car in Palermo is rather stressful due to the heavy traffic and the condition of the streets. We parked the car in a public parking area and paid app. € 12 per day. You will have troubles finding good restaurants in Palermo, not even near the hotel.

Parking location was a little frightening as we parked on the street behind the hotel (to save money on parking vs using a garage.) The reception wasn't as helpful as we would have liked when we asked for assistance on a few things. The rooftop view at breakfast was wonderful.

Very good value for money. The hotel is well situated and easy to find (about 5 mins walk from Stazione Centrale straight up via Roma).
Lovely, though small room with a balcony over- looking the via Roma, with fantastic views over Palermo.
Helpful staff, particualy the owner who was very approachable. It was a shame they could only recommend the restaurant Nabucco, as it didn't meet our needs so we had to keep searching. I would recommend Salsa and Tango in a little square behind the Post Office (via Roma)
Fantastic breakfast setting, with a roof terrace overlooking the city. We were even treated to two nights of free live music on the terrace as part of their music festival (July / Aug 07)
I would recommend this hotel and would definately stay again.

Good quality, comfortable, clean hotel, really close to Stazione Centrale. We were with our two young sons aged 6 and 10 and they were easily able to walk the short distance from the station to the hotel when we arrived. Very friendly, helpful staff who spoke v good English too (not so many other people did elsewhere in Sicily!). Breakfast is served on the roof terrace which has fantastic views across Palermo. We would definitly go back to this hotel in future. Good value for money too.

A wonderful hotel. We arrived early (took the ferry from Napoli) and wanted to simply leave our bags at the hotel while we walked around Palermo. Instead, they let us check in! The gentleman at check-in was great; very friendly and professional.
The hotel was stunning, especially the rooftop view (it's better in person than in pictures). Our room was fantastic. The immediate area wasn't great, but that's Palermo for you - the street itself was a shopping paradise.
We only had one complaint. We asked for a restaurant recommendation and were immediately given only one choice - Nabucco - by the front desk staff. We went, and it was overpriced and disappointing (we were the only ones there). At the end of the meal, our waiter asked how we found the place, then he proceeded to tell us that the owner of the hotel was *ALSO* the owner of the restaurant. No shock there. :-)

We thought this hotel was first class. Unusual layout because not all floors of building belong to hotel. Our room on first floor was amazingly modern and delightful. No view, of course, but this was a city centre location. Wonderful roof terrace for breakfast. Staff very helpful and competent. Location near railway station and airport bus.

Once we got past all the security, which included being buzzed in at the nondescript front door, then into the fifth floor reception area, and finally onto our floor, we found a beautiful, spacious room in the heart of Palermo. The rooftop terrace provided a spectacular view and the breakfast was very nice. The hotel was an oasis away from the crowded streets, horrible traffic, noise, and grime of Palermo. The hotel's central location in the old city made it easy to walk to the major tourist sites.

We stayed in this hotel for a few days in February 2006. We selected the hotel as a result of the very favourable comments it received on the Venere website. The accommodation was very good. The location was perfect..thre roof garden/dining area was nice....The bus/train station is just a short walk away. The selfservice breakfast was good. I would recommend this hotel to you.

Excellent hotel for the price! centrally located, 15 minutes walk from the most interesting sites of Palermo, very nice people, warm and cosy. Beautiful breakfast on the top floor.
Careful, restaurants in Palermo do not open before 8 p.m. for dinner! It just requires some planning!

If this hotel is in your price range, then theThe top floor patio is what sets this hotel above the others in its price range! It’s wonderful to start your day with breakfast and a panoramic view of Palermo!
The staff went out of their way to reserve restaurants or help with plans. They even helped us book a room at another hotel when we decided to stay a day longer and the Ambasciatori was all booked up!
The breakfast was very good by Italian standards, which is still not a lot of food by North American standards, but that’s to be expected. Still, this hotel offered much more breakfast than any other Italian Hotel we stayed at. And yes, they have an elevator.
If this hotel is in your price range, then there is no reason to look for another hotel.

This was our second stay at Ambasciatori and was equally as pleasant as our first stay. The rooms are exceptionally clean and the 6th floor suites are very spacious. The hotel is ideally placed for walking and sight seeing in Palermo.
Next time we are in Palermo we will be staying at Ambasciatori.

We loved the hotel and appreciated the courtesy and competence of the staff.
One word of advice: Do not drive in Palermo. Those gracious people you meet in a shop or restaurant turn into demons on the road. If someone followed you on the sidewalk as closely as they do in their cars, you could have them arrested for harrassment. Take the train from the airport; the hotel is close to the station. If you need a car to visit elsewhere on the island, go back to the airport for your rental car. It can take an hour to reach the highway from the hotel. You'd get to your car much faster at the airport than you will if it's in town. You cannot find a parking space before 8 at night, and you are likely to find yourself locked in by a double-parked car the next morning in any event. I have traveled extensively in the US and Europe. Palermo has the most brutal traffic I have ever experienced.

I was really impressed I got a photo from the terrace just like the one on the net. I enjoyed the relaxing breakfast on the terrace as well as the good food selection. I had no problem with te stairs as the lift was fine. I really think this a perfect spot to stay as it was also so near to the bus and train station where we got a connection to Catania easily with help from staff. Also they aranged a taxi for us from the airport and it was such a kind and friendly trip to the hotel doing some sightseeing on the way. My husband, 20 yr old daughter, sister and her husband also were very impressed and happy. Thanks for everything Hotel Ambasciatori.

We got in very late, but were impressed by the size and quietness of our particular room. Very nice remodel and the best bathroom facilities we had on our entire 3 week vacation throughout Sicily and mainland Italy. The breakfast on the rooftop overlooking Palermo was breathtaking and a great way to start the day. We started a tour the next day and stayed in a different hotel that was far less amenable than the Ambasciatori for a higher price. Reception is on the 6th floor. The only minus is the stairs or a tiny elevator as your choice for getting bags upstairs. Ask for help if you're not in good shape. A great little spot for a respite from the energy of the Palermo experience.

This hotel is in a great location for walking to shopping, many of Palermo's sights, and the central bus station. Don't let the upper floor location or the small "cage" elevator deter you. Our room was very clean, well decorated, and the staff is very friendly. The rooftop terrace for breakfast is worth the whole visit!
