Regretably, we had to check out after one night of our two night booking [ my wife was unwell and we returned to UK a day earlier than planned]
My limited French language and the very limited English language understood by the reception staff made it difficult to explain our position. I understood the cancellation policy but hoped that I would not be charged for the second night in the circumstances.
However, after a very confusing and frustrating exchange, we left paying only one night and at this point in time, it apears that the cost of our second cancelled night was not charged. I am grateful to the hotel staff for this gesture and I regret the apparent heated conversation at the time which was entirely due to the language difficulty.
