Our toom was absolutely charming. We would definitely want to stay here again. We had a beautiful view of the church tower next door 2 nice balconies. We could not believe we got this beautiful room at such a great rate. The people at the front desk even helped coach us in French!!

I read other reviews before we went to Nice, and my comments agree broadly with others. The hotel is excellently located; it offers basic accommodation at a good price.
The french windows did not seal fully closed, which allowed sounds in from the street. The room was too warm, even in cool weather, and there seemed to be no cooling, just heating. Otherwise the room was good at the price, with all the normal facilities and everything working.
We took breakfast only one morning in the hotel, and unfortunately were not made welcome. This upset my wife. The reception staff were very helpful and friendly. We got very good information from the hotel before we arrived, about parking, which was fortunate, because we found driving in Nice very difficult indeed on arrival.
If on a tight budget we would stay again, otherwise I would be inclined to go elsewhere for more comfort. However, unless able to secure a bargain break, hotels seemed expensive in Nice.

Hotel in good central location - bit noisy early morning. It is a fine building - see external photos. But inside it is desparately in need of redocoration/refurbishment. Stained carpets, knackered mattress poor decoration. If it's done up go there, if not leave it out.

The hotel is in a lovely neighborhood, near pedestrian walks and not too far from the old city and Cours Saleya. The staff was welcoming and helpful. The room was not fancy, but fine for more than just basic needs. It was a very comfortable stay.

Quite and very close to the center 3 minutes from rue de france and less than 10 from old Nice. There is a big car park within 200 metres more or less 23 euro per day (outside of the hotel first to the left, straight ahead on the right side of the street). Rooms are quite and clean and the breakfast is simple but good (it's not an english breakfast)

Nice enough hotel in good location. Rooms are advertised as soundproofed but they most definitely aren't. Noise from the road is not a problem but noise from other rooms is. But on the whole a nice place and I would consider recommenfing it to friends.

The location of the hotel was great. The staff was very helpful. The room was clean and the beds very comfortable. This hotel was affordable and located in a safe area that was ideally located near some great sites.

WE were very happy with our stay at the Nouvel Hotel. We were two blocks from shopping and the Promenade Anglaise. The breakfast offered, besides being FREE (only time we saw that in France) was excellent, offering more choice than what is typical for continental breakfasts.
Our room was a corner room and was quite spacious for European standards. I would imagine that non-corner rooms might be smaller, so I would suggest people request a corner room.
All in all, from room to service to location, our stay at the Nouvel Hotel was charming.

I asked for a very quiet room in my Venere reservation request -- and got it. Hotel staff waited up for my arrival and greeted me personally with a smile. This was an okay place for my quick, overnight stay. "Fine" for the price!

I stayed at the Nouvel twice in 10 days. The two rooms I had were both clean, although small, but showing their age a bit. Everything worked fine and the staff was quite helpful except for one young woman who I only got to smile on the second day of my second stay! The location is excellent with many fine restaurants nearby and the breakfasts? Well, the room is beautiful, the hostess wonderful and the breakfast was just what I like for a breakfast in France. Definitely worth the price, since going out costs the same, but couldn't ever be as good!

The room was adequate, as was the daytime receptionist (she was pleasant). The night receptionists were inadequate and mis-informative about local attractions and service. Our air-conditioning didn't work both nights - it screeched so loud that we had to turn it off completely. They were supposed to fix it during the day, but apparently it didn't get fixed because it continued screeching. When we informed the night receptionist, he had no recourse or apologies. The day receptionist did give us 1/2 off the price when we checked out, but it did take some prodding. We were right on the street, which was a nice view, but noisy at night. With no air-conditioning we decided not to open the windows because of the street noise (mopeds). Some mold in the shower. Somewhat convenient location to main pedestrian street and beach (a 10 minute walk to beach). It's o.k. if you're on a budget.

We got a really great rate on our double room at Hotel Nouvel by booking through Venere.com early, and therefore saved a good amount versus the "on-the-spot-rate" that was posted when we arrived at the hotel. Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay (bed was somewhat hard though). Also, the receptionist provided us with some very inaccurate information about how long it would take to get to CDG airport from the hotel, and we almost missed our flight to prague because of it. However, nice hotel, even better area of Paris.

The first room we were put in smelled musty so we asked for another - we were put on the top floor. The room was a bit bigger than the first, quite clean but not wonderful. The position of the hotel was good and the reception area was very nice. The hotel needs renovating - new bathrooms would be nice. The outside of the building is beautiful - shame about the low standard of the bedrooms.

the best thing about this hotel is the location as it is very central and therefore, although the hotel is not great, for the money i think it is good value. there is a good brasserie(les deux palmiers) about 20m down the street if you are tired! the staff were friendly and helpful. the room was not great but reasonable. so if you cannot afford the negresco (who can?) then nouvel is a decent and convenient option. we had a very good meal at the vendome brasserie just a few minutes walk away .

This hotel was beautiful. We had a room with a balcony looking over Hugo Blvd. It was lovely in the evening to sit with the windows open. The breakfast was okay. It is a picturesque looking hotel. It gave us some of the best memories of our trip to France! Location was good. Just a block or two from the main restaurant region and a block or so more from the beach. They don't have their own parking but there is a pay lot ($20 per day) just a block away. They did add some sort of hotel tax to our hotel bill (about $1.3 per day) when we checked out, which I wasn't glad to see....the staff person said it was just the "owners policy". But we would stay here again..very quiet, clean and convenient.

The Nouvel is well situated between the train station and the sea front. It offers good basic accommodation and a good nights sleep even on the front side overlooking a busy road.
The breakfast was not the best ever and the dining room seemed crowded - if we ever stay again we would probably find a cafe nearby and pay a few euros for a better breakfast.

The hotel is positioned well for access from Public Transport, 10-15 min walk. The facilities were as expected and the staff were very helpful even with our limited french phrases. We tried hard and the staff tried even harder. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and we were able to walk to most areas of Nice.

Stayed here on three occasions, as couple and on my own. Some rooms nicer than others but all perfectly adequate, good shower with nice little bottles of shower gel etc (I hate those mean little sachets you sometimes get!). Bed comfy. Noise as expected for the middle of a large town. Staff very pleasant, tolerated my hesitant French and spoke good English. Breakfast less good - as with every hotel we've used in Europe, you're far better off with a croissant and coffee in one of the many cafes nearby. About 5 mins walk to shops, 10 mins to sea, 15 to Vieux Nice. Will probably stay there again but watch for price variability (+/- 100%) over different websites. Venere.com was cheapest last time.

The waitstaff was not the most cordial. However, the view of the church and the location are excellent, especially for the price. You have easy walks to the beach and restaurants. The building is beautiful. I would definately stay there again.

This hotel is great value. For the price you could not ask for more. The room was clean and although not massive was not cramped either. It suited all our needs for a short stay in Nice. We will be staying here again and have recommended it to friends too. Other people have mentioned that their room was noisey. Ours was not, but if the hotel was a bit busier I could imagine that it could be. Our recommendation - take earplugs and save loads of money at this great value hotel.

for the price of the hotel it is quite good compared to other hotels in the area of the same price range. The hotel is in a good area which is close to the train station and also close to beach and cafe areas.

the hotel is near the city centre, in a quite area. the rooms are clean and nicely furnished. it has no parking, so we had to look for a place where to leave our car. car parking facilities nearby are almost more expensive (if you leave the car for a night) than the hotel itself!
