Very well situated for everything in Nice - although quite a trek from the railway station but this is an easy trip on the tram. Very clean and well appointed. Breakfast OK but a little overpriced. The bedrooms are directly off the reception area which is a little embarassing - especially as our room was immediately by the reception desk! All in all a very good hotel.

OUr second stay. Bst hotel value in urban France. Rooms small but spotless w/plenty of hot water. Staff all eager to please and spk English. Location perfect close to tram, bus stop, shopping and conv to bus stn, old town, and train stn. Thirty steps up tho but really only one flight. If u fly in, buy a one week bus/tram pass for 15 euros PP. Bus 98 fm airport is 4 euros, almost all others to pts within 20 miles are 1 euro but you will use the tram to the bus stn and old town a lot. 1 euro takes you to most towns, including Cannes, St Paul, and Eze Vill. Feel free to email me with req for details on area as we have been there a half doz times. Food & beverages EXPENSIVE (as in $18 US for one beer each in a nearby bistro with karaoke) Eat snacks and takeaway sandwiches unless you are wealthy but the area is great to visit with plenty of things and places to fill a full week. email is daleh@surewest.net I have a room diagram as some face street and are noisy, others face rear courtyard and are very quiet. Free HS internet in lobby. Only about fifteen rooms so seldom anyone waiting for it.

I stood with my doughter (14) and son (16) for three nights. The 3-bed room was very well. Only disadvantage: with windows to the street. But this did not disturb us too much. Especially we thank the team of the hotel for friendlyness, advice and help!

The hotel is situated at the corner of 2 noisy and commercial roads .The spacious rooms are noisy. And the quiet rooms at the back are small and deserve scarcely 2 stars.Apart of this, the hotel is located in a nice area.

The hotel "Lafayette" is well situated close to the centre of Nice. The was a balcony looking to the street, but if closed it is quiet in the room. However the walls are thin and we have heard the water falling in the neighbouring room. But for 1 night stay it was the good choice. There were tea/coffee making facilities. The receiptionist was very nice and explained us were to leave our car - Nice Etoile parking. But there were no discount for Massena parking as it was promised on the hotel page.

5 nights / business and holidays / we asked for a quiet room and paid the "spacious room" package / As we were just above a very noisy street with buses and buses and buses, we asked to be moved in a another room after our first night but the new bedroom was very small / by the end of our stay they maid us pay as if we stayed in a "spacious room" for the 5 nights and gave us very bad reasons to explain why they couldn't change the rate(among them that it was because of "venere.com" that they couldn't change the price)/ bathrooms are far too small / walls are so thin that you clearly hear people in other rooms / I go to Nice for business every 3 months and I will find an another one for my next visit !

Lafayette is a well run small hotel with friendly helpful staff who do their best to make your stay enjoyable. The hotel is not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties as there are 2 flights of stairs to reception and no lift. Some of the rooms look over the street where there is a bus stop which can be a little noisy first thing in the morning but we got used to it after the first day.

Excellent location...rooms and bed were very good size. Bathroom a bit small for someone traveling from U.S. The room was at the end of the building and you can hear traffic. It didn't bother us at all but it can be annoying to others. Occassionaly we smelled cigarette somke thru the vents. Excellent location, staff, clean, & good price. I would return next time.

This hotel was excellent- clean, in a good location, walking distance of the Old Town and the train station, the people at the front desk were extremely friendly, warm, helpful, and accomodating. We stayed the first week of June and it was hot outside. Their A/C was a little weak. We requested a fan at the front desk and they got us one which made all the difference.

This was a great little hotel right in the middle of everything. The only thing I disliked was the noise from the hotel corridor (my room was practically 3 steps from the reception area) and the street noise, other than that, it was a great value for money. I'd lost my luggage getting there so being across the street from Galleries Lafayette and dozens of other shops on Av. Jean Medecin was a bonus. The co-owners were stupendous as was the young lady intern who effectively chased up on my luggage with the airline. I would definitely stay at the Lafayette again.

The location is hard to find for traveller of 1st time in Milano. It took near 1 hour from Duomo to the Hotel via Metro, Bus and Taxi finally. All of us liked the quiet environment and the excellent breakfast. We will re-book there next time since we have found the most efficient way.

A nice hotel. Stayed only one night before flight home, excellent for that purpose. The web page said the hotel had parking. That turned out to be discounts on a public parking some distance away. I would recommend to check which parking site on beforehand.

The Lafayette is a great place to stay in Nice. The day manager spoke English, and gave us directions, and informed us of sites to see and booked our tour to Monaco and Monte Carlo at no charge. She even let us check out late, since we had a late train back to Paris. We tried to leave her a tip at the end of our stay, and she wouldn't have it. She said she was just doing her job. All in all, good location, walking distance to the beach, and the markets/cafes/restaurants. I would definitely stay there again. (Just one note the beaches in Nice don't have sand, they have stones. The beaches in Cannes have sand imported from Spain.)

My boyfriend and I absolutely loved this property. The woman at the checkout was helpful and friendly. Spoke english very well and helped make travel arrangements. When we left a tip on the desk for the maid, she wouldn't even take it because they are trained not to remove money! When we missed our train, we had already checked out, but this hotel allowed us to keep our bags behind the front desk for 6 hours so we could spend more time in Nice and come back for our baggage. Breakfast was alittle pricy but very hearty. Amazing hotel, amazing city. Close to the city center, near shopping.

The hotel is nice, but there was poor toielet solution in our room. It was a vaccum-system like you would find on planes, and there was quite som smell from this. During cleaning of the room a detergent with heavy perfume was used (to disquise this smell I suspekt...). This was not so nice, and it gave me a headacke. There is quite som noise from the road outside, but it was not too bad during night. The staff were very welcoming and helpfull, and they spoke very good english.

Sehr netter Famillienbetrieb.

very, very friendly staff(!), the breakfast-buffet was worth the price and the location of the hotel could not have been better. if only it would have been a little less loud during the night (due to road works, it was somewhat noisy).. but all in all, we would totally recommend this hotel and would surely go there again once we are back in nice!

This hotel is centrally located, not far from the beach, Old Nice or restaurants. The hotel is quiet and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was large for a European hotel although the bathroom was small and the shower was so small we could barely fit in it and we're not big people. The room was simple with no flare or charm, but fine. This is a great hotel for someone who wants a decent room without spending a lot.

1. Although we arrived one day early, the hotel had a vacant room for us, also for this night. 2. The help we received from the manager(?) in order to find the nearest parking facilities was far above what could be expected. Excellent service!

Overall this was a nice stay. The only problem was that the instructions for the safe in the room were incorrect and the hotel stuff had no clue why the safe did not work. I had to figure it out myself (basically by guessing), but once I understood what was the problem (the "C" button had to be pressed before what instruction said) it worked fine. To the credit of the stuff, they did not charge me for one day of safe usage (which was 1.50 euro a day). The stuff was friendly and spoke English. The breakfast was good and filled me for at least half of a day (it is 8 euro). The bathroom was small and the shower was not very comfortable but this is typical for economy European hotels so it met my expectations :). Few words about the location of the hotel. It is in 50 meters from the Galleries Lafayette department store. On one hand it is quite close to everything - Old Town, beaches, promenade. One of the walkway streets with lots of restaurants is very close (less then 5 minutes). On the other hand it still takes you some time to get to anywhere: 10 minutes to Old Town, 10-15 minutes to promenade/beach. So if you want a little bit of everything and do not mind walking the location is good. If you want to be on a beach twice a day I would better find something closer to the sea. Also the hotel is on a bit noisy street - it may be not comfortable if you want to sleep with your windows open but with closed windows it is OK.

Myself and my best friend enjoyed two nights at this hotel. We found the staff extremely welcoming, friendly and informative. The hotel itself was positioned within walking distance to the beach, old town etc so it was extremely convenient. The hotel was very clean, as were the rooms and also very spacious. I would definitely stay at this hotel again in future and would not hesitate to recommend it to friends. Suberb value for money!

Although the location in Nice and the price were good, we did not have a very good night here. Finding parking was a nightmare and then we had to lug our suitcases up the stairs (only one flight though but there was no elevator). The staff barely spoke English and did not seem to know how to process a visa payment. The beds were not comfortable and it was fairly noisy as we had a corner room facing the street. There are so many nice hotels in Nice, you can do better than this (although you might have to pay a bit more).

Nice, plain hotel. Very friendly staff. Helpful. English spoken, makes a lot af things easier. Situated close to "everything", it is ideal. Breakfast: Continental, buffet. Fresh. Fair price (between 6,50 and 8 € in town). Would recommend the hotel to anyone, who is able to climb stairs.

The hotel has an English tagline: "small and friendly" - which is true. The people who run it are very nice, and the hotel has only a dozen or so rooms, all on one floor. Except for one - 108 - the rest are pretty big (I've looked at the fire evacuation plan on the wall). The area is O.K. if you are in Nice in business or just enjoy urban landscape, if you are for the beach, this hotel's location might dissapoint you. But I walked to the beach everyday early in the morning to get some swim - it took me 10 minutes. And it's indeed central and very close to the Old Nice, and the main shopping area is just around the corner. The rooms are clean, but I was suspicious about the bathroom - it was parhaps a little too run down. But it definetely seemed to be well taken care of. Other disadvantage was the A/C - there is no way to turn it off. There is simply no button neither any other regulator to operate it. It just blows. And parhaps it blows too cold. However, I can still recommend it - when the staff is friendly and wants to make your stay as comfortable as they can, all the minor flaws don't count!

Can't understand how this hotel can rate 3 star. They are just located at upper floor of an apartment building. There's no lift & you have to pick up your bags to walk up. The room is quite worn out and a lot of thing are not working: in-room safe, table lamp, door lock, lavatory drain, even the WC seat has been installed with wrong type. The room is very very noisey even from late night, not only from the room next but also from the staff outside. The light of the hotel sign also makes us not comfortable at night. After all, not a good choice and not the value for the price paid. I just wonder why people gave this hotel such a good comment.
