paid for a room with two beds, only got a room with one twin bed. Hotel would not change room. One night I had to sleep on the floor as there were two of us sharing a room.

This hotel has 3 receptionists. Two during daytime were great. The one at night was horrible, absolutely the worst altitude I have ever seen in many years of hotel stay. I will never stay there again. I strongly recommend the hotel owner to fire him if they do not want to lose more customers.

The cost of €95.70 per night for a single romm in a 2 star hotel was a bit much, this maybe due the fact that the grand prix was on at the same time and the prices went up. The room was very small however it was clean and this is a good thing.I was to stay 3 nights but thanks to the rail strike on the Thursday i was unable to make it from bordeaux and lost ones night cost i rang on the wednesday to explain this to the hotel but they still charged me for all 3 nights.

Judging by the neighborhood, the lobby, and its relatively low-price, one can easily expect the worst from Hotel Trocadero. But all summed up, the hotel is quite acceptable. My room (single) was extremely small but cozy - nothing but a bed and a TV set, though. The bathroom – which had no bathtub, only a shower – was impressively new and clean. There was a semi-covered hole on the wall right next to the bed with water pipes and every once in a while I could hear all sort of strange (and creepy) noises in the middle of the night. Actually, I could not understand how this was possible in a room that had been recently renovated and could be almost perfect. Everything looked pretty clean, although I could spot a stain on the blanket on my last night there. The room had no special amenities like a mini-bar but had a safe which is always useful. The breakfast served (6 euro, not included in the price) is extremely poor – cereals, milk, coffee, orange juice, croissants, bread, butter and nothing more. The breakfast room is quite ugly, without natural light and with some old furniture there – like they use it as some sort of basement. Staff was very nice and helpful but I must notice that I was paying 95 euro on my last night there (super-charged Grand Prix du Monaco rate) and they didn’t allow me to keep my luggage on the hotel facilities after checking-out at 8 am. The lady kindly suggested I should keep my luggage on the train station lockers (8.5 euro rate). Trocadero is located 2 minutes away from the train station and 15/20 minutes from the Old Village/beaches. If you are planning to stay in Nice for several days maybe you should try another hotel, but if you are visiting Cote d’Azur and using Nice as a base camp and all you need is a place to crash for 7 hours, then Trocadero may be a good choice - after all, you couldn't be closer to the train station.

Located near the railway station, still within walking distance from the beach and down town. Very friendly, welcomming and helpful people in the reseption, made me feel at home. Clean and simple room. I will recommend Restaurant La Toscan in the same street for a friendly and good meal at a reasonable price.

We've been here at least 4 times and each stay has been fantastic. The reception persons couldn't be nicer or more helpful and the rooms are always clean. While some rooms are smaller than others, each one has been great. We look forward each year to staying at this hotel. It is conveniently located (near the train station), safe, clean and very affordable.

-- Small rooms. Poor breakfast offered for 6 EUR (but you can visit Makdonalds or many other caffes nearby). ++ Free Internet is available. Close to city center and railway station (useful for travelers to Monako, Cannes, Italy...) Price could be cheaper.

Located near the railway station (buses from and to the airport every 30 min) and still quite quiet (Lots of traffic one or two blocks away). But we did regard two chairs in a triple room as too little.

This is the place to stay if you are looking for a spot near the train station that is welcoming and clean. The surrounding area leaves a little to be desired, but there are internet cafes across the street and the beach is only about a ten minute walk. The staff is very helpful and accomidating. For the price, you can't get any better and in fact, it will be considered the best hotel of our three week holiday. The breakfast is not free, but it does have all you need.

Half mile from the main train station. Had some problems checking in (had to wait for the maid who lived on the fifth floor to get back - call ahead to tell them when your coming) other than that it was a nice room with a very pretty view. It was a quick walk to all parts of florence and in a nice part of town with plenty of shops and restaurants near by. Our in suite bathroom was clean, and I noticed the shared bathroom was always clean as well.

The hotel is not in a very nice area, but very close to the station and to the center of Nice. It doesn't have a parking but there are parking areas nearby and you can also park in the street. Free parking at nights and weekends. Hotel was clean and the people at front desk very nice and kind. Very good quality for the price we paid!

Trocadero is a good, reasonably priced hotel, close to the central railway station. They offer good service. Breakfast is traditional but acceptable, not included in the room price though. It offer good relationship between price, service and comfort. We were happy with the choice.

Very efficient and helpful service from staff but room severely spartan and shabby. Bathroom very small but would have helped to have had a simple hook or shower where to hang towels. Room was very noisy (lst floor) due to renovation of building opposite and street sounds. Room at rear of hotel definitely advisable. Overall felt it a shame that for a relatively small investment from the owner the hotel could be made into one which is good value for money.

We booked Hotel Trocadero but we was is Hotel Normandie, because Trocadero was under construction. I think Trocadero will now also o.k. I saw the building it was o.k. Trocadero and Normandie are in the same street (about 50m). The surroundig is o.k. This is not a red light districkt as other users think. The sea is 20 minutes walk. On the coast there are many fine restaurants. Not far, there are many shops. (5 min. walk Spar supermarket). The railwaystation is in 100m. Trocadero and Normandie almost the same. We can say go there and have a NICE stay. :)

It located at convinent place, so close to the main train station. However, a few young people drink and shout between each other through midnight. The room is O.K. The TV with CNN and BBC for non-French spokers is even better. The small amount of city tax will be added. Breakfast and air conditioner can be extra charged if you needed.

We had a nice stay at this hotel. We actually arrived two days early (due to a change in our travel plans), right in the middle of the Monaco Grand Prix. The hotel was fully booked but the receptionist was very helpful in recommending a great hotel nearby. The room we had was great, newly refurbished and very clean. Location was great, a few minutes walk to the train station and a comfortable 10-15 min walk to the beachfront. We did feel a little uncomfortable at times in the area surrounding the hotel, but no more than in any other railway area in France or Italy.

This was really close to the train station, which was great... but was on a street full of sex shops and internet hubs, not a fabulous place at night. The bathrooms were good but the bed was uncomfortable as well as our TV did not really work. The front desk staff didn't know how to transfer our phone calls to our room either.

The hotel is VERY close to train station and tourism office. In short, the location is one and the only one its advantage. I really can NOT stand the hotel staff, a female afternoon receptionist. She always seems to show that she was tired, bored and disgusted with hotel guests although I just asked my room key to her. If you prepare the similar budget and have other choices, you may go to other 2 star hotels.

The Trocadero was extremely close to the station and therefore easy to access trains and or buses to the airport and to other cities. The surroundings of the hotel were in an interesting section of the town - very close to sex shops and the like. The walk into the main shopping/beach areas of Nice was about a 20 minute walk. Nice was beautiful. The hotel photos show a much larger kitchen area - it is a cupboard at the foot of the bed. It is extremely basic. The room really only fits the double bed in it. The staff were wonderful and very helpful. Renovatioins were obviously going on and this did not impact on us much, although there didn't seem to be much of a public area. As the room was so tiny, we didn't stay in much. If you opened the window the noise from the outside was a little disturbing, but to get airflow in the room you needed to open it. If you want a friendly and cheap place to stay, then this is it. As long as you don't mind a bit of a walk to the other areas of Nice.

th ehotel is in a bad part of town, which made it scary since we were two girls traveling alone. We found food in our closet and the room stunk so bad we had to have the patio doors always open. At least it was cheap, i guess you get what you pay for. The pictures we saw were of the lobby, not the room. We thought they were of the room and got a big surprise at what our room looked like. There is an elevator, that is nice.

We had a pleasant stay. The hotel is just a short block from the train station (if you take the right route). They have a very impressive antique elevator (in good repair) that we just loved. The drunks on the street were a minus, but that will require some pressure on the City of Nice to solve the problem.

1. In terms of my primary requirement when I looked for hotel options, i.e. the close location to the rail station I am quite satisfied. But for leisure the location of the hotel is too noise and disturbing especially when the windows look to the street. 2. The personnel is very friendly. 3. The room kitchennette should be either removed from the room or equipped (which I think is better) with kitchenware like at least a tea pot, knives, forks and spoons. Otherwise you should put on your site that all these things is your own responsibility. 4. I should note in particular the convenience of booking a hotel via venere.com. Thank you for your effots! I hope to

A reasonably priced, reasonably located hotel. During a one week stay, the room was cleaned once which was a bit sparse but there was a change of towels every day. There was no remote control for the TV which was painful but at least there was a TV. There was no hook for the shower head meaning it had to be hand held which was annoying... Despite those few minor things, the staff for the most part were friendly and the location near the train station was perfect for travel to other areas. The claim that the hotel is 5 minutes from the beach is a bit far fetched. 20 minute walk better describes it.

The room was advertised as having a kitchenette area for preparing meals, which it didn't have. The bed lacked a proper quilt and mattress and wasn't made up everyday. The shower was broken. For that low price you'll never find a better accomodation in Nice. The rooms were simple but O.K., the personell was very friendly and very good english speaking. The Hotel is situated 15 to 20 walking minutes from the old town and the beach promenade, so you don't need cheap taxis. Für diesen geringen Preis werdet Ihr in Nizza nirgends eine bessere Unterkunft finden. Die Zimmer waren einfach aber in Ordnung und das Personal war sehr freundlich und sprach ausgezeichnet Englisch. If you don't expect much, it's ok. If you want to book a room with kitchen, bring your own pots/plates/cups/cutlery, because either there is no such equpiment or its terribly dirty (I guess, depending on the people that stayed in the room before your arrival). I'm not sure whether venere still states that it is a ** hotel - it actually was once, but now the stars on the outside the are hidden by tape - the right thing to do, I would say. And one last advise: Don't ever accept to stay in room no. 101 - this is probably the worst room. We stayed there for 2 nights, then we got a different room. (Which was offered us without us having to ask for it - obviously they know that 101 is disgusting)

I was very disappointed with this property. It was supposed to have a two star rating, but I doubt it would even get a one star rating. We possibly had the worst room in the property, but as we did not have the opportunity to inspect others, I cannot say for sure. However, the problems we had were: the property is under renovation. We were staying on a floor which was mostly under renovation, messy (paint, broken tiles, rubbish, etc... The door to the room was not very secure, one of the windows in the room did not lock, there were no blinds, curtains or shutters on the windows, the dishes provided were dirty, the doona/bed cover was filthy (we didn't use it), although the sheets were clean. The mattress on the bed was of very poor quality, the doors on the cupboards did not have any door knobs and the table was held up by a matchbox. We had stayed in lower rated hotels in other locations in France for cheaper prices which were much, much, better than this property.

This place was being renovated. It was a shambles. Could hardly breeth because of the smell of fresh paint. Had to climb over workers to get in and out of building. Couldn't find the place initially because the outside of it looked like the building was abandoned. That's how bad it was. The only reason we stayed was because they offered us a bigger room for the same price which didn't smell quite so bad of paint.

The Trocadero is in a state of transition (e.g. construction), so eventually it will be a very nice place to stay. It was perfect for me as the price was right and it was so close to the train station. The room was fine and the bathroom was especially nice. For the price and the location, I felt I got what I paid for. They may want to opt for bigger towels though!

although this place does offer some great prices, dont be fooled by the pictures on the website. Our triple did in fact have a kitchen, but the fact that the entire property was under construction made it a little less than comfortable. Upon arrival, we were informed that we didnt have a room. after complaining, they gave us this room upstairs that was clearly not finished. most of the hotel was under construction and we lived among all the workers and the smells of fresh paint and plaster. we did have a kitchen though. not too bad, and it is a great place for what you pay.

The hotel was under repair so it's difficult to bear a judgement. Anyway, the area is too noisy.

It is a very cheap hotel with very convenience location and with kitchen, only 2 minutes walking from Nice train station. Anyway it was not always available during its opening hour normally it was 1-2 hours late in the morning. It has a telephone in the room. Great! But the man at the reception in the evening didn’t know how to transfer the call to your room.

I expected good prices, but not top class quality, and got what I had expected. We had a table falling apart and a bit of noise from the outside every now and then, but feel we got what we paid for. We needed a place in this part of town, as close as possible to the railway station - as I was going to a conference in Monaco and chose to stay in Nice to save some money. The reason to choose this place, was its cooking opportunities.
