| The hotel is ideally located in the heart of Nice city centre, two blocks south from the main train station (allowing easy access to the other interesting cities in the region like Saint Tropez or Monte Carlo), close to the business and the shopping areas. Furthermore, the beaches are only 800 meters from the hotel. |

At the same price (110 euro) I found a wonderful quadruple room in a graet residence in Aix-en-Provence. I think that 110 euro for a quadruple room in a Hotel like Normandie Hotel is too much. But the problem is that Nice IS NOT CHEAP (and not so beautiful as other places in Provence and Cote Azur). Normandie Hotel is maybe THE CHEAPEST HOTEL IN NICE!

I enjoyed my stay there. Quiet hotel and friendly personnel with reasonnable price. The sourroundings (near the train station, Jean Medecin avenue and not far from the beach and the "vieux Nice") was very interresting. However I regret that my room smells cold tobacco every morning.

It's quite close to the train station. Some staff are not very friendly. The room is quite small. It's very difficult to find a parking place since the streets are already filled up with cars. Finally we end up parking in the train station but it's expensive (12 Euro a day).

The hotel receptionist are very friendly, accomodating. Only the capacity of the airco is not sufficient to cool the entire room. And the showerroom is very small. The rest is good and we did enjoy our stay. I'm sure i will be back.

If i think about the very low price I only can say it was great. Clean and the people were polite. The 3 bedroom was big enough. But the 4 bedroom was to small. Because the 4th bed was some kind of an chair you could make into a bed. And the room was only a litle bit biger than the 3bed-room.

Without parking near the hostel (no more places), I had to park my car at the railway station (3min far away) and it's quite expensive. But the parking of the hostel was expensive too...
The really bad point of the hostel is a little and expensive parking. The other things are OK.

This hotel was within a very easy walk from the train station, the tourist information, area attractions and local buses. We were happy with the property. When we commented that the shower was almost falling off the wall, it was repaired when we came back later that day. Excellent service. The hotel staff suggested restaurants in the vicinity -- the one we really enjoyed was La Petit Biche.

Decent hotel. Rooms are clean. Staff are firendly and helpful. Parking is non existent -- space only for three small cars. We had to park in the train station garage. Access by car is also tricky - many one way streets. Wish there was an elevator at the hotel. The nighborhood has many restaurants and close to most places. The walk from garage to the hotel is short but not a nice one.
Overall, a decent hotel and good value for the price.

Good location. Very close to rail station and reasonably close to everything you want to see in the city. But the hotel/room conditions are pretty much what you would expect from a 2-star hotel. Don't go for the breakfast: there are cheaper and better options nearby.

This is a good place to stay if you need access to the train station, as its only a short walk away. I found the area to be quiet and the staff friendly and helpful.
There was a small tax which was added to the room charge disclosed on this web site, and there was also an annoying €2 per bag charge to store luggage on the day of departure, but overall this was a decent place to stay.

The hotel was way below our expectations. The surrounding area is not very good. The hotel is very old which is visible in the room furnishing, walls and toilets. It is not child friendly...the elevator stops in between two floors and one has to carry buggy through the staircase.

The room is fine and in fact, is bigger than what I had expected, and the a/c actually works, which comes as a surprise as many of the a/c in the hotels I have been in Europe don't. The only problems are the bathroom and the lift. The curtains are too short and the bathroom is a mess after showers. Also, the lift was out of order when we were there for the entire 3 days and I have a feeling that it's been like that for a long time.

This is my third stay at Normandie and for the first time I'm disappointed. They provided me a three beds room but the bathroom was too small also for only one person and towels were for one person only. The room stinked of fresh paint.

In short, I would recommend to anyone to try alternative accomodation, closer to the beach area.
This hotel has tiny rooms, which are poorly decorated and in an area which is not too eye-pleasing. It is convenient to the train station - which is probably the only positive.
One staff member was very pleasant, where the other (male) had absolutely no clue!
And avoid the breakfast, unless you enjoy stale bread rolls.
I recommend to anyone who travels to Nice to stay within short distance of the beach (and by that I mean 1 or 2 blocks). Everything past that is dirty and poorly maintained - almost like a ghetto.
I would take my chances elsewhere than stay at the Normandie again.

Hotel Normandie had great staff, and Tinger to greet us when we checked in. We were a little disappointed with our room as it was quite small for the two of us to move around in. We had noticed as we walked out one morning that other rooms on our floor were a lot bigger, but we were never given the option of which type of room we would like. The area is close to shopping and very close to the train station, which made it easy for us to get to and from with our packs. The hotel has air conditioning though which was a great escape from the heat. The breakfast, for 6 euros, was not a great deal, I would reccommend going to a cafe for less. However, the friendly staff, Tinger, and the air conditioning did win points with us.

I spent five nights at the Normandie and on the whole it was a good experience. I was a little disappointed with the overall standard of the room when I actually saw it, in comparison to what it looked like in the photographs. Not quite as modern as I anticipated! Towels were a little frayed and old! But the bathroom was cleaned daily and change of towels, which was good. The staff were very helpful. Breakfast good value for 6 euros. Did not realise there was a few euros added in tax for each nights stay. Would have been good to have been told about this in the overall prices - always hidden extras!

Very good welcome from the staff on arrival.
We enjoyed our stay very much and would have no hesitation to return there for another short break. Location is convenient for teh train station, buses, and other facilities.
Critisisms - room was rather small, as was the ensuite facility. Perhaps a bit a facelift of the ensuie is due. Some noise from room next door; however, none of these marred the enjoyment of our stay
Good value for money

A very welcoming hotel which was excellently situated for the station and airport buses. Has everything you could need (unless you want a sea view!)and I will definately stay there again when next in or passing through Nice.

The Hotel Normandie is located about 2 minutes walk from the central train station. Rooms are nothing special, but very clean and a good value. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It takes 15 minutes to walk to the beach from the hotel, and about 10 minutes walk to the main nightlife/restaurant area of Nice. Overall, I was very satisfied with our stay here. I like the fact that we didn't have to cart our luggage very far, since it's only a few steps away from the airport bus dropoff point (and train station). If you don't need anything fancy and just want a clean room in a convenient location, I recommend this hotel.

The website held out the prospect of a really good recently refurbished hotel with a family atmosphere and congenial environment, in spite of the very reasonable rates. Well, the welcome was very nice and warm, as was the service throughout (desk, breakfast, rooms), but the hotel was rather smelly and our room was cramped and shabby with a tiny DIY-style shower room and a similar style of storage for our clothes.. Everything was reasonably clean, however and as we were staying for only three nights the Normandie was adequate.

A good reasonable size room for 4. Fairly quiet, but still near the centre of things.
Service and quality of breakfast, showers etc. were of a minimal standard, but were at least acceptable. A reasonably fair budget hotel.
There is the need to also add at least a third of the price extra if you wish to park the car. Street parking is very difficult and the hotel has a park, but at a cost.

A very clean, basic hotel with pleasant staff. Be careful dropping things on bathroom floors as manoeuvreability is difficult. One downside is that the walls are paper thin and you can hear sounds from all over the hotel, although surprisingly nothing from outside. That aside if you want a modestly-priced, well-located hotel in Nice then you can't go too far wrong with this hotel. There is also limited car parking, at a price, which involves a very complex system but worthwhile given the nightmare of parking in Nice.
