Carpet needs urgent cleaning.
The conversation, crying children etc from next room can be heard clearly.
To be my first time in Nice to spend a long weekend it was ok however I would not choose this hotel again.

We wanted to like this hotel since the staff was nice, but it was too depressing. All surfaces of the room were covered with shabby stucco, acoustic tile or some other strange surfacing. It was not that it wasn't clean - it mostly was. It was just kinda seedy feeling. Next time we will try somewhere else. Location and staff are great, but no thank you.

I travelled to Nice from Italy by train which had taken 10 hours and within minutes of my arrival was at the hotel. Being a single traveller i was use to getting very small rooms so it was a great surprise to be given a double room with plenty of space. The hotel is within short walking distance to the main street with a mail shopping mall along the way. The sites of Nice are also along this route. The staff were friendly, courteous and helful with any inquiries. Breakfast was available in a small garden setting if required. Most enjoyable.

The hotel is near the main train station, so the neighborhood is not that great but I wouldn't say unsafe. Hotel staff friendly - elevator and air con not working but staff changed our room to one with working ac. Elevator was fixed later the day we arrived. Great Chinese at the Crazy Wok across from hotel.

It was inexpensive (60EUR), and the location wasn't the best, but it was close (5-10min) to the train station for walking - though I recommend finding it during the day since it's a little tricky. It's about a 15min walk mostly uninteresting to the waterfront.

Close to train station. Hotel does not permit food or beverage in room, which of course did not stop me. They wanted you to purchase from their bar. Overall I would recommend especially as the air conditioning worked really well!

Good space in the room, compared to similar room in Marseille. Childfriendly-furnished. Major minus point: too long walking distance from beach and center of attraction (promenade des anglais and Vieux Nice).

My daughter and I found the staff to be friendly and helpful. Good bakery across the street, so don't buy their breakfast. A number of good restaurants well priced in the immediate area. Area was somewhat run down with major construction going on, but near to shopping and the train station. View from the room was somewhat questionable and photos of rear patio were not true to what was there. Room was small as expected, and bathroom could have been updated. Overall, good price for what we needed.

Extremely good relationship between price/quality. Has already booked a room for my next visit to Nice in september 2006. Recommends! But for tourists which do undestand that if you pay a 50eur per night then you can't expect you to get a room like in Negresco.
Very friendly personal and very good cleaning!

very good price for service provided, room always clean, towels changed every day, sheets every second day, almost familiar atmosphere, close to train and bus station, 20 min to old town or beach, 2 rent-a-scooter shops in the nearest area

The hotel is actually closer to the station that it seems on the map. Convenient. The room was absolutely fine. Only gripe is that the evening porter was not that friendly, and that he insisted I return by midnight, which was OK, but seems a bit harsh for a town with nightlife. Otherwise a rather better standard than I would have expected for the price.

A very good value for money hotel and convenient for the station. Breakfast quite good for France, not included in price but I expected this.
The only bad thing was when I arrived on a cold November evening the room was like a refrigerator because the maid had left the window open. The AC unit could be used to warm it up but did not do so very quickly.
Just along the street towards the station on the same side as the hotel is a very good and cheap restaurant

The room was very small and a bit shabby but clean. It was fine for a place to sleep but would not have wanted to spend a lot of time there. The area was convenient to amenities but a bit dodgy at night. I didn't feel safe to go out walking alone at night.

Too far from the see. The hotel syaff was not very welcoming - they gave me the key but the room was not ready. I had to go down to tell them that the room was not ready and I was made to wait in the lobby. Then I was told the room was ready, I went up again with my heavy bags but it was not ready, so I was told to go down again and wait there. Which I refused and after that I was shown into the room where I at least could sit down and wait for them to finish preparing the room. It made me angry as they should not have sent me up twice with my heavy luggage when the room was not ready.

Hotel Amaryllis was as advertiesed. Very close to the Ville Nice train station and with close access to some decent restaurants and coffee shops. We came in late and tired and got a quick shower and a good recommendation for dinner where there was good food at a reasonable price. The room was good size and there was a tv with the BBC.

The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. The room was excellent value for money, walking distance from the Gare where the airport bus dropped us off so perfect. The room was clean and modern. The shower was a little small and unpredicatable but adequate. Overall I would definitely recommend this for the budget traveller

I booked that hotel because of lots of good comments on venere homepage - and I can confirm: I had a VERY comfortably stay at Amaryllis. The proportion between price and efforts are very good - for such a cheap hotel the single room was perfectly equipted and the check in-desk was always friendly and helpful. Sum: a simple but adaeqaute accomodation for short stays and low budgets.

I'm very satisfied with the service. The room is cosy and spacious and the hotel operaters are very friendly. And the room fee is very cheap. If I had another chance to visit Nice, I would definitely choose this hotel again.

This hotel is in a great location, being only 2 blocks from the train station and one block from a main street so it was easy to get our bearings for finding our way to the old city and the ocean. There are lots of reasonably priced restaurants in the area. The staff was extremely helpful and fluent in English. The only negative aspect was that the area did not seem particularly safe for a woman walking after dark. It should also be noted that there are several signs stating that food is not allowed in the rooms.

The hotel was not bad at all. The bedrooms were descent enough for a 2 star hotel and the bathrooms were fairly spacious. The breakfast was very good (it costs extra, but is worth it) compared to what other hotels offered on our trip. My only problem with the hotel was it's location. Although it was very handy to be close to the train station (we ended up using the bus depot "Gare Routiere" more often though), the neighborhood wasn't the best of areas. I think that I would've rather paid extra and walked a little further to be closer to the beach and to a better neighborhood. Also at the time, there was a lot of construction going on on Ave Jean Medecin right near the hotel, which made it a little more difficult to walk down towards the beach.

Nice hotel to stay, clean with a new paint - very friendly and competent staff. The free VLAN access was of great help. I intend to return to this hotel, its on my preferred hotel list.

I would definately stay at Amaryllis Hotel in Nice again. The service was friendly and helpful. The location was close to the train station and within walking distance of the beaches. The room was clean and worth the price.

Fine and basic. Clean. Staff quite friendly. The room infested with 16 mosquitoes- had we made the mistake of opening the window or were they already in the room? Result 23 bites between us and 2 very sleepless nights. Not what we expected in December. However a cheap and cheerful break.

We stayed here for 3 days with friends last Nov.
Almost all things were OK but some things disappointed us.
Fisrt one was SHOWER problem. Our room shower din't work well at all.
Of course we informed the person at the desk at night
and he made his efforts to help us
but finally nothing happened to the shower.
So we had to have a lot of difficulty in using it.
A cold shower in cold winter season!!
Second one was that my friend bed sheet had a tiny spot of blood.
Generally we were satisfied with our stay at this hotel because of its reasonable price and convinent location.
