Terrific location in the French Quarter - quiet as far as street noise goes, but could hear the guy in the next room coughing quite clearly. Still, for the price and location, we will definitely stay here again.

I was pleasantly surprised by this hotel. It was our first time visiting Le Richelieu and we will return. The rooms were spacious and clean. We checked in at 9pm and the front desk man was very kind and knowledgable. He promptly called a cab for us to make our 9:30 reservations. Hotel Le Richelieu was well worth the money spent. The only complaint was the older caucasian man who waited on us at breakfast. He seemed a bit smug and non engaging. Other than that it was a fabulous stay. Quiet but still close to all the fun stuff. We loved having our own balcony and fridge.

We would highly recommend Le Richelieu to anyone considering visiting New Orleans. The location can't be beat - we walked everywhere we went, yet we were in the quieter part of the French Quarter which was perfect. The hotel staff are very courteous and helpful, the room was clean and comfortable. We feel that the hotel was well represented on the web with pictures and descriptions. Great little bar off the lobby to hang out in at the end of the day.

The Hotel was an older style hotel-still use a door key vs. key card for room entry-which you leave at the front desk when you leave the hotel. The room was adequate, nicely decorated, and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was larger than expected, highlighted by blue tile and a blue toilet-seemed like from the 70's. However, everything was in perfect working order, clean, and well-maintained. We had a balcony that provided a nice view up and down Barracks Street. The neighborhood was more residential than commercial and quiet, except for the occiasional train whistle. Expect a three to four block walk to the French Quarter and/or Frenchman Street for the jazz clubs.
Nice small bar with great atmosphere and friendly bartender. Some locals were gathered there for a post-Mardi Gras Parade drink.
I felt that the room was a great bargain for the price we paid, and would recommend it to others.

We were very impressed with Le Richelieu, the staff were amazingly helpful and bent over backwards to help us with every aspect of our stay. Everybody was so friendly and recommeded some great places nearby. We ate at a little bar called Coops place that served great local food as well as pasta dishes and burgers, massive portions and great prices. The French quarter is small enough to walk everywhere so it's best to just explore at your own pace but the hotel staff are always willing to recommend places to suit your taste. I would definitely stay there again if I was to return to New Orleans.
