| New Orleans, one of the most vibrant and diverse cities in the world, takes pride in its rich French and American heritage. The scenic French Quarter, with its stunning 19th century architecture and 21st century attitude and intensity, contrasts with the stately elegance and sophistication of the famous Garden District. |

The hotel was convenient to Canal Street and Bourbon Street. However, the property is in desperate need of repair. Heaters/AC dont work adequately. Safety is a real concern. Plumbing problems and sanitation are also concerns. Many unhappy guests upon checkin, during stay and upon check out.
The clientele of this hotel seems to be "partying" youth and desperate travelers who couldnt find another place to stay.

This property was absolutely terrible!!! When checking in at 3PM there were approximately 17 parties ahead of us. They were giving out numbers to each party like a lottery ticket that provided a queu status as rooms became available. The problem was that they had a full house the night before and no house keeping staff to keep up with the turnover. Numerous complaints as folks honkered down in the lobby to wait three hours plus for a room. We finally gave up after an hour and a half and came back later that night which altered our plans for the day significantly. Once we got into the room it was very small. The ceiling tiles were badly stained, the room smelled moldy, paint chipping on the wall, and you could see that the place was not in shape -probably the vestiges of Katrina. The room was also an exterior entry room that was very loud as a freeway overpass was about a hundred yards away and all night we were woken up by ambulance sirens. Miserable stay. The place uses an alias name that attaches the Days Inn brand to it when it's really the Canal Hotel and they addmittingly acknowledge that they are not "Days Inn". Even the check out receipts are printed on Days Inn staionaery. If I were Days Inn (and I'll probably write them about this charade) I would be apalled at what they might be doing to their reputation. We're going to Italy in September and October and have been looking at your site for possible accommodations but now I'm weary of using your services based on what you put me up in in New Orleans. Take this property "off" your list.

We booked this hotel back in August of 2007 for reservations for Mardi Gras. We requested renovated rooms that were adjoining and not on the highway side. When we arrived we made it clear to them we wanted these accomodations met and they were unable to do so. Instead we had non renovated, non adjoining, as close to the highway as possible. There was no breakfast a few of the days we were there, the elevator broke numerous times, the laundry machine didnt work, the pool area looked like a disaster area, the over night front desk agent has no idea what customer serviice is. Our rooms had no alarm clocks, you could see through the crack in the door to the outside, heavy mildew and mold smell inside the room, ac/heater didnt work properly, shower and bathroom were dirty. The nicest employee was the elevator man! If you would like an indepth discussion about this hotel please feel free to email me at wnb614@jwu.edu DO NOT stay here if ur looking for anything over a half of a star hotel, even if it is dirt cheap!!! The picture of the front lobby is accurate, everything else is not how the pictures show it!

This hotel is in desperate need of upgrading or demolition. Basically a low level quality hotel. Neither heat nor A/C worked ...no hot water off and on. General security was poor...the security guard spend lots of time on the cell phone sitting outside the front entrance or talking at the front desk. Never saw him patolling the guest room area.
The front desk staff was more than pleasant. Im sure their job is difficult due to the conditions they have to deal with and the guest complaints that they HAVE to receive. I heard meany.
Because of its great location on Canal Street it could be a great place with LOTS AND LOTS of money poured into it.

The hotel is under construction so the price was low. I was charged almost double the price quoted upon check out, but easily fix the problem once I showed my reservation...glad I printed it out. The breakfast was very minimal (a muffin, juice, coffee). The location is right off of I-4 and is very close to many attractions.

Price charged was not price quoted on on online reservation. Then when disputed, was told to contact Venere for refund. We finally got the refund on the price quoted so we checked out a day early, was told again to contact Venere for the days refund that we never recieved.Only one light worked in the room and no hott water!! Also dont try to check in a bit early they are serious about 3:00 so much so that they had a line in the lobby for check in.

It was a busy time. We went to the Sugar Bowl and when we arrived at the hotel the lobby was full. Before I checked in two people were complaining. We finally got checked in( it took about 30-40 minutes).By the looks of the lobby I was disappointed in the room. I had requested a room with double beds and we only had one. I decided not to complain because it was already late and the lobby was full and I didn't want to wait again. I can't say too much though because when I paid for the room the price they charged was a lot cheaper than what I was orginally told and I even said something to them just to make sure they had us down for the length of stay and room I had requested. So for the price it wasn't that bad. But, don't expect the rest of the hotel to look like the lobby. You will be very upset. Next time I'll probably stay somewhere else.

It is about a 6 block walk to the French Quarter. The street cars that run by this hotel do not offer dependable service. The hotel is next to an underpass where there are many homeless people. I would advise using this hotel if you are in a group. It is clean the staff are very nice and the cost is excellent. It is not a luxury hotel. It is basic and practical.
