I had many problems with my stay... one is it took 3 phone calls, two trips down to the front desk, and 7 hours for me to finally get a coffee. Also only one staff member spoke english (and not very well). The location is great because it is only ten minute walk from the train station, but it is not a very "safe" walk. The location would be ok if you are male... but it was not very safe for females, and it was very difficult to find. The front desk kept telling us that dinner was up stairs, but when we went up there the doors were locked and the lights were off. Overall this was a horrible hotel, and I would not recommend it.

1.It is obvious that it caters to businesspeople who only come for short stays. 2. There are no drawers for clothes, the reading lights are very low, there is very little space between bed and wall. 3. The public rooms are not inviting - plastic couches and armchairs. The service at breakfast is not very experienced. It is inconvenient to have no restaurant; however the recommended ones were OK.4.The traffic outside scary and the streets unbelievably dirty.

This was my first time visiting Naples but I have travelled to Italy many times. I was very worried about going to Naples as i was going to be alone with my three year old son, having read the comments on the city. However I had no problems at all here. I was in the city with my son after midnight and like every large city in the world I felt safe but you need to apply common sence.
I would encourage people to visit here and not to believe all the bad press.
This hotel is very central and handy for public transport.

Wonderful hotel. Very welcoming, competent, and helpful employees. Great breakfast on rooftop location with a super view. Our room was new and spotless and the windows were sound proof. However, we keep our windows open to the piazza below to hear the wonderful sounds of European cities. There was also some interesting acivity going on in the piazza below (more entertaining than television). So do be careful- although I think they were mostly conducting their business in a manner that would not affect hotel guests (I happen to love to people watch). The walk from the train station was very doable, although watch your wallet. If you need a clean fresh hotel close to the train station this one is it (as long as you do not mind the colorful activities going on in this area)

While the inside of this hotel was nice and comfortable, the outside was not. I was robbed right across the street from the hotel. I also noticed the prostitutes hanging out in the same plaza right outside the hotel. It is near the train/bus station, which is a plus, but one must determine if proximity is worth the risk of staying in a poor area. Also, I found the staff a little put off any time I asked a question, like they were too busy with other things.

Ein schönes und kürzlich renoviertes Hotel mit
excellenter Lage.

No complaints about hotel. Location is just off Piazza Garibaldi which is not so nice. Would not recommend this hotel for a prolonged visit but is good for an overnight stop-over as near the station.

The hotel was very clean, safe, and quiet, but the surrounding area is a bit decayed.Caution should be exercised with your money and belongings before stepping outside since the location is near the train station. Overall a very good value for the experienced traveller.

Besides there being nothing to do in Naples, this hotel was certainly a pleasant surprise. Very nice stay, and the bathroom had a foot washer! Also, they had the best continental breakfast we encountered on our entire trip through italy. If you must visit Naples, this is not a bad choice at all.

We stayed only one night at the Plaza and in Naples but enjoyed our time there very much. The Hotel is very conveniently located an easy 5 minute walk from the main train station Centrale). It is in a bustling central area of Naples just a block from Piazza Garibaldi and although it is noisy during the day and early evening, the streets quiet down at night. The triple pane windows work beautifully to keep out much of the street noise at all times. The hotel was very clean with relatively spacious modern rooms. The staff, while speaking only halting english was eager to help and was able to answer all of our needs. Breakfast was simple but good and is served in an upper story with lovely views of the city in three directions. We did not feel that the area was in any way unsavory but certainly brimming with life and we would heartily recommend the Plaza to anyone.

As described by your previous reviewers, hotel was excellent but the area in rather run down. It was quite a distance from the better end of Naples. Hotel staff were very helpful when our luggage didn't arrive with us, but 3 days later.

This is a good hotel for those who want to stay in the stazione area of Naples--a raucous but fascinating area! The staff initially seem a little unfriendly, but are in my experience competent and honest.

Would recommend the Plaza to anyone. Staff and hotel were excellent and even allowed us to check in about 5 hours early with no charge despite being fully booked the night before. The area surrounding the hotel is not as nice as some parts of Napoli but this is compensated by the hotel making it an excellent hotel choice especially if travelling from the train station and the port which are both very nearby.

Naples is a beautiful city full of lunatics and this hotel is fantastic but in a hellhole of a location. Its an immigrant area with piles of rubbish everywhere. It didn`t seem threatening but it wasn`t nice to walk around. If you come just to vist Pompeii etc then its perfect as the train is only 5 mins walk but if you want to visit the city its better to stay in the bay area. The rooms are large, clean, well-equipped and breakfast on the roof terrace was a great way to start the day. Great hotel, wrong place.

This is an excellent value hotel. Very modern, very clean and friendly. The only drawback - depending on why you go to Naples - is the location. The location is nice enough but if you are going as a tourist, its maybe a little away from the buzz and tourist areas or port. We did a lot of walking as if you have been to Naples before, taxis, cars and busses in the centre are not very practical as it so hot and busy. Its very close to train station and the airport is only 15 Euros by taxi.

Together with my girlfriend, I stayed one Saturday night in July 2004 in hotel Plaza. The hotel is easily reachable from the train station, but pay attention when you cross the station square, or you will get robbed. As previous commenters noted, it is true that the hotel is located in a bad zone (Piazza Garibaldi): if you want to reach a better zone, you have to cross half Naples: not to be done by night. So after a day of sightseeing, we decided to stay in for the night and just went out for an evening meal in a nearby restaurant.
The hotel is clean, the rooms are spacious and beautifully lit, with airco, safe, tv and minibar, also the bathroom is ok (shower, toilet and washbasin). Only minus is that you can't open the window shutters. (maybe better, because the panorama would be ugly). We didn't take breakfast (other priorities ;-)), so can't judge upon that. Check-out time is noon. People at reception were professional, but they forgot to tell us how breakfast was regulated...

A very comfortable and welcoming hotel and an oasis in manic Naples. It is near the Garabaldi metro so transport is convenient. It is however situated in the commercial district of Naples and difficult to get around other than by trains. Nonetheless, great value for money and comfort. The view however is pretty appauling and they have sealed up all the windows, so be prepared for a lack of natural daylight.

I've been travelling to Italy for more than ten years now and this is definitely one of the better hotels I ever had (in this category). One could even say that it isn't typically italian, because of the surprising cleanliness, spaciousness and the low noise level of our double room (facing a heavy traffic place!). Obviously, the hotel was very well renovated.
P.S: don't buy any electronic device on the black market (=main streets) of Naples, they will betray you in any case!!

The hotel is in a very dangerous part of Naples. We arrived at about 9pm and the streets looked like something out of a war zone. When we went to find out where to park the car etc we made sure everything was taken out of the car that would move! One of the hotel attendants took us to some secure parking which was 15 euros. They took the keys and parked the car and when we picked it up in the morning after passing an ambulance taking away a body found that it had been rifled through (although not damaged) and some things taken. However it was not something you would discuss and live1 The hotel was clean and appeared secure but we would not visit again and definately not with a child. Too scary an area to be believed once the sun went down. The breakfast was a eat all you can buffet which was fine but is was down in the basement which smelled terribly of damp. If you are a business man probably ok.

The hotel had just been refurbished very contempory & therefore it was very clean. The staff were very flexible as we wanted to change our initial reservation when we arrived. Initially there were 4 of us so we had 2 adjoining rooms.Later during our stay One member of our party left early so when we asked for a room for 3 people they just added a camp bed to the larger of the adjoning rooms. I did make a comment at check out and they did reduce our rate and just charged us for 2 instead of 3.Could not fault the customer service. The area was however a little unplesent and seedy a bit like Kings Coss in London.
