The Royal Plaza offers 146 completely renovated rooms which include 17 Junior Suites and 44 Deluxe rooms.
More than two-thirds of our rooms enjoy spectacular lake views and private balconies. 67 guest rooms are distributed on three non-smoking floors. For your added security the Royal Plaza Montreux has recently installed a new video surveillance system.

I was travelling with my wife and 7 month old child. We got an excellent rate (off season), and were placed in a lovely room with a magnificent view of the lake and mountains. Decor slightly dated, but room clean and well maintained. I would recommend staing here.

We booked a superior room for a week and made a request in the box for a lake view 7 months before arrival. On arrival, a manager told us that he was sorry that there were no lake view rooms available then but if we wanted we could move in three days. Unfortunately the rear view rooms back on to a busy main road and the railway line. To cut down the noise, it was necessary to keep the windows closed and the electric shutters down. However, the temperature control on the air conditioning had no effect and there appeared to be no thermostat, hence it was noisy all night. We did not unpack anticipating the promised move but on requesting it were told it was not possible and the manager who had offered us the move had gone on holiday! We were very unhappy about this but had to remain in our original room.

This is an extract of our email sent to Venere in respect of our stay - this sums up our feelings: Following our recent stay at the Royal Plaza Montreux (16 Feb thru 19th Feb 2007) I feel I really must contact you to say how very disappointed we were in respect of the hotel. We had gone onto the world hotel web site and read reviews of what the hotel offered and this simply did not tally with what we expected The rooms were reasonable but compact to use a kind phrase The pool facility was extremly basic, for a 5 star hotel we certainly hoped for much more than the Royal Plaza delivered, combined with the fact the pool was quite cold, and with a 4 year old child who was unable to go in because he turned blue and was unhappy, this was not the birthday treat he was hoping for and the whole reason we had gone to Montreux for the weekend The staff in the bar could have been more attentive, and after reading that the hotel was child friendly this did not come across Also, we anticipated that in our room would be basic tea/coffee/water facilities, but this was not to be and we had to arrange a kettle, again with a small child this is a basic essential and from the web site believed this would have been standard in the room and again disappointed Also, as stated in our booking email we were bringing a dog, we then had to pay an additional CHF50 per night, it would have been nice if someone could have advised us of the additional cost in advance together with parking charges - again the whole attitude of the hotel seems sloppy and as the venue was quiet it really wouldn't have been too difficult Overall, we would not return to the Royal Plaza and will be writing to the World Hotels web site to advise them of our dissatisfaction of the whole stay

Venere.com does not debit your credit card for your reservations. You will be asked to insert your credit card details which will be sent to the property only as a guarantee of the reservation. The bill will then have to be settled directly at the hotel. In case your chosen hotel needs a deposit, this information will be included in the "Cancellation policy" section and the deposit will have to be settled directly with the pre-selected property. You cannot cancel your reservation if you selected and booked a non refundable or prepaid rate.
CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT
Check-in: the rooms are available from anytime after 3 p.m.
Check-out: it is necessary to leave the rooms before midday.
INCLUDED/NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE
Baby cots are included in the price for children under 12 years old.
Parking is not included in teh price and costs CHF 25,00 a day, or CHF 2,00 per hour.
Stay of pets is not included in the price and costs CHF 50,00 per day.
