it made our stay in Montecatini a wonderful experience

We enjoyed our stay at the La Riviera Hotel. Montecatini Terme is a beautiful town and safe to walk in the evening. We had excellent food. Loved going to Montecatini Alto. We also drove to Lucca for the day. We treated ourselves to a massage at a spa. We also swam in one of their pools. The owners of the La Riviera were most helpful. EK USA

A well run family hotel with friendly helpful hosts, ideally situated for the traveller who wants to explore the area by train.

Thank you Senora Antonella and Senor Vicenzo for your friendly service during our stay last April 13-15, 2008. I especially liked the spacious room with the 2 balconies you gave us. We chose Montecatini Terme as base city to visit surrounding cities, the city itself is also nice. Hotel La Riviera is located in a nice and very quiet area within walking distance to the train station.

Railway Station very close 10 minute strole Spa very good Very good hotels around Traffic very very busy at morning & evening rush hour but doesn't last too long

A very nice hotel; Vincenzo was very welcoming and helpful. The only negative point is that the rooms are not very soundproof from the corridor, so if you are unlucky in your neighbours, you could be disturbed. There is a car park about 100 metres from the hotel, which is free except on Saturday afternoons and public holidays. The hotel is a short walk from the centre of Montecatini and from the funicular - as suggested by Vincenzo, we took this to Montecatini Alto for dinner which I recommend highly. The next morning, we went to the Grotta Giusti in nearby Monsummano Terme (also suggested by Vincenzo) - the 'turkish bath' in the grotto and the large outdoor hot pool are wonderful.

The owner/manager was extreemly nice nad helpful. He made the stay very pleasant. Coming back to this hotel after a long day of touring, it felt like coming home to a warm and friendly enviroment. I would highly recommend this hotel. It was a short walk to the train station (just up the street)and we were surprised at the low cost of train to Florance. It was the best way to go to visit this city and yet pay lower cost for Hotel, but it was a 40 minute train ride each way, with no difficulties.

La Riviera is the place to stay when visiting Tuscany. The short walk to the train station makes Florence, Pisa, etc highly accessible - and what a lovely place to come back to! Free parking makes having a car easy and allows for day trips to vinyards and the beautiful countryside. Vincenzo and Antonella have created a wonderful oasis - I look forward to returning to Montecatini Terme and La Riviera.

I opted to make a reservation to stay at the Hotel La Riviera in Montecatini Terme based on the very positive reviews available on Venere.com and I was not disappointed. I found the owners, Vincenzo and Antonoella to be very welcoming and helpful throughout my four night stay. They even put up with my efforts to speak as much Italian as possible! The hotel is very well kept and well located in Montecatini Terme. I was in Montecatini T. for a cycling event and Vincenzo offered to store my bicycle in an empty apartment at ground level. The car parking is a short block away from the hotel in a safe area. I would highly recommend the Hotel La Riviera for good value and as a base for travels in the area around Montecatini T.

A small, very friendly run, family hotel in Montecatini Terme. The location is ideal for visits to surrounding areas. Florenz and Lucca are 60 minutes and 30 minutes away, respectively. The train station is a 5 minutes walk from the hotel, and since traffic in Florenz is a disaster, using the train from La Riviera is the ideal way to visit Florenz. (leaves about every 30 minutes) The center of town is also in walking distance to the hotel. Although, the train station is close, La Riviera is not in the train station area of Montecatini. The room was impecable, the bathroom was newly renovated. (AC controled by remote.) The street was shaded but neither especially quiet nor especially noisy. This was my first time in the Toscana. I traveled by myself and would go back to that hotel immediately.

Our stay at the Riviera was very enjoyable. We were welcomed very warmly by the owner who was always available. His English was very good, which was extremely helpful, and, of course, he was very knowledgeable about the area. The room was not large, but comfortable, and the bathroom was fine with a very good, roomy shower. Everything was very clean. We had a delicious dinner, prepared by his wife, at the hotel one night. She is a WONDERFUL COOK! Their teen-aged son helped serve, and he seemed like a vey nice young man (about 13 years old or so). We highly recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

The hotel is very clean and comfortable and in a very good location for touring the area. The host was very welcoming and could not do enough for us. The only drawback was the road it is located on which was quite busy in the morning but we wanted to be up and about so it did not present too much of a problem. The breakfast provided was very good with plenty on offer to get you through the day. The small bar is comfortable and not pricey. It would have been nice if the hotel had a restaurant for evening meals but there are plenty to choose from in Montecatini centre which is only a five minute walk away. In conclusion we would use this hotel again and look forward to our next visit.

My wife, Marie, and I stayed at La Riviera for five days in September 2005. Each morning, while I waited for her to get ready, the owner, Vincenzo, would prepare my morning caffeine fix. You really must try his double espressos and cappucinos (I enjoyed mine while sitting on the front porch). He is the BEST host we've ever met! Extremely helpful with directions and suggestions of places to visit and eat (speaks English well, and allowed my wife to practice her Italian on him). We simply cannot say enough good things about him and his beautiful wife, Antonella (who keeps the hotel very clean). Since this hotel is on a busy street, there is a degree of street noise that was prevalent during our stay (or perhaps it was just the room we were in). Not a big deal however. It is centrally located to just about anywhere you want to visit in Montecatini Terme, and is close enough to the train station that if you don't mind walking 5 minutes, you can easily get to anywhere the rail system goes in Italy. We're already planning our next trip!

A presto Vincenzo.

I have chosen this hotel, based upon ( at that time ) 31 very positive comments out of a total of 32. I will gladly join the 31 previous happy clients of this hotel. Everything was as good as expected and better. The rooms were spacious and very clean, the hotel was located perfectly close to the center and only 5 minute's walk from the train and bus station. But the most appealing asset to this hotel are the owners: Vincenze and Antonella will do everything possible to make your stay a happy one. I will never forget Vincenze's omnipresent smile and his excellent advice for trips, restaurants and all interesting things to do around Montecatini. Vincenze e Antonella : grazie per tutto!!

The gentleman at the front desk was very nice and spoke quite a lot of English and helped me with my Italian. He also called and spoke with our cousin for us as she speaks too fast for us to understand over the phone. The gal that was there the next morning, however, spoke no English at all and it was a tad difficult to communicate - we were trying to find out where we could get a map for driving. It is very handy for the train station; just a couple of blocks away.

The location was excellent. Walking distance to parking, restaurants and local shopping. The hotel seemed to be fairly unoccupied during our visit. The owner was very pleasant and welcoming.

I was very disappointed in this hotel.I asked for a quiet room and although they were almost empty, we were put in a tiny barren room facing a very noisy street.A complete makeover is needed by this hotel.I would not stay there again and would not recommend it.

The hotel was very quiet when we stayed (Oct 2004). I think we were the only people there along with one other couple. The owner seemed to do everything! He was polite and helpful and reccommmended a good restaurant in town, which I thought was excellent. The town itself was beautiful and a real suprise. The hotel is 5 mins walk from the train and bus stations with excellent links to Florence, plus there is free parking 50m walk from the hotel.

Hotel was in good location within walking disctance of town centre and railway station -our triple room was 2 linked rooms each with their own balcony and TV. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. Our host was both friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed our 2 nights and would stay again.

A wonderful stay - our host was very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was nice, and the room very comfortable though rather small. (Thoough in line wiht other rooms in Europe.) The private balcony was also very nice, and made the small room less of a problem. Our host was very gracious, and recommended an excellent restaurant in the town center. Good location removed from the noisy center but within easy walking distance of the train and funicular.

The staff were fantastic and very, very friendly however the noise was unbearable. The whole place has stone floors and you could hear every step taken in the adjoining and above rooms. It was a little bit like listening to a herd of elephants tap dancing on the ceiling.

This was a wonderful hotel, and we had a wonderful stay. The proprietor couldn't have been friendlier or more personable. The great breakfast that included prosciuto and cheese was such a nice way to start the day. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing holiday in Montecatini.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel la Riviera in Montecatini Terme. The room we were given was very clean, and had an extra room off to the side, which was good for storing extra luggage, and for me to fuss about in during the middle of the night when I couldn't sleep (due to my cold and 6 hour time change). The TV had English CNN. A nice complimentary breakfast was served every morning. The owner, Vincenzo, was the most gracious host anyone could ask for, very helpful and personable, with very passable English. We stayed here for four nights, and used the nearby train to go to Pisa and Florence. Montecatini Terme itself has a lot of shops, restaurants, and a very nice park with tennis courts available. Make sure you go up the mountain to Montecatini Alto, we had a very nice meal at the Ristorante Villa Gaia and a beautiful view of of the city below us. We highly recommend the La Riveria!

La Riviera was just the perfect hotel for us. The owner, Vincenzo, speaks English and is very friendly and helpful. He does not rent rooms to groups of students, as he likes to keep his property quiet. The location is very good, within walking distance to the center of town. You can park your car free in a lot one block away. (He parks his car there.) There is a covered porch on the front with tables for eating breakfast when it's warm, or just relaxing at the end of the day. The hotel has an elevator. The breakfast is wonderful - coffee, rolls, juice and cereal. The bathroom facilities appear to be rather new and very well appointed. The beds were very comfortable. We were impressed with the cleanliness of the hotel. This is a wonderful town to stay in, easy access to the main highway for touring Lucca, Pisa or Florence. Stay here, you'll love it!

Vicente, the owner was especially kind and his staff wonderful. Our room was the room pictured on the website and it was immaculate. The price was exactly what was quoted, no hidden charges, nothing. The breakfast was as good as any we have had in Europe. We will definitely go back to La Riviera and highly recommend it.

The hotel is a very nice family run hotel. We had requested a crib and arrived to find out that a crib was not available - but this may have been a language barrier. The rooms are very clean and spacious and in a nice setting. The rooms are quite loud, we could hear everyone in every room including the barking dog outside who barked the entire night. If you need quiet settings to sleep, this hotel might not be for you - otherwise a very nice hotel for the cost per room.

The hotel was nice. The lobby was spacious and roomy. The bedrooms and bathroom was very neat and clean. Vincenzo, the owner spoke very good English, which helped. He was very cordial and helpfull. Ask him for reccomendations as far as meals and attractions. He is very knowledgeable. There was an elevator which was nice. You didn't have to lug your bags up several flights of stairs like some other hotels in Italy. It was small compared to American elevator's. Two people with luggage at the max at one time. I strongly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a nice room for a reasonable price while in Italy.
