This hotel is beautiful and full of character, with lovely gardens and spacious, bright rooms simply but attractively furnished and a large bathroom which wouldn't be out of place in a much higher-ranking hotel. Apart from an absence of coffee-making facilities (not a huge problem), we absolutely loved our room on the first floor overlooking the courtyard. The hotel is hard to find once you get to the large and sprawling village - could do with more detailed directions on the website! - but is very well situated for car access to Pisa, Lucca, Pistoia, Florence and the coast. It's also really great value. For us, the only downside was the rather sullen reception and waiting staff. It is only a small hotel and we were there for 5 days, but we were completely ignored whenever we encountered staff. A smile doesn't cost anything but goes a long way in making you feel welcome! The exception was the friendly cleaning staff we passed in the corridors in the mornings.

Very comfortable! It seemed that the hotel was not completely finished, which didn't affect our stay at all but reduced the price (only 49€!!!) to one third of the later price. :-) So we were very lucky and had an excellent price-comfort-ratio but future guests will probably have to pay more. But the rooms are very spacious and luxurious!

A very nice hotel in an older house with a lot of "atmosphere". Splendid breakfasts! Very strategic situated for exploring Toscana by car.

During our overnight stay en route to a wedding near Siena, we found the Residenza del Granduca hotel straightforward to find at Monsummano Terme using sat nav. The staff were smart and welcoming and the building was well-modernised inside with all necessary amenities and safety equipment. We were directed to a typical good value Italian family restaurant not far away for dinner. Breakfast at the hotel was very good. Our room was enormous with a high beamed ceiling on the second floor, accessible by lift. It was light and airy with new shutters and a very good ambient temperature with four towels each provided, also disposable slippers, possibly because the original floor was of sealed herringbone brick. A reasonably priced bottle of wine and two glasses were provided. The bed was very comfortable and the room quiet, with just right amount of bed linen so that we had an excellent night's rest. Of slight disappointment was the fact that the shower curtain seemed oldish and one or two surfaces in the bathroom were basically clean but didn't look quite as good as they should, possibly due to the matt finish of the grey paint. We also noted the odd curious mark on walls and corners both inside and outside the room, possibly made by furniture being moved. The sealing of the brick floor in the room may have been done after the trompe d'oeil skirting board had been painted grey, so there were slightly brownish staining along it which ideally needed repainting. To sum up, we felt that the hotel offered everything we wanted and was interesting architecturally and historically. It was extremely good value for money and quietly situated - a peaceful haven with lovely grounds and gardens to the rear, and seating under gazebos. It would be an ideal place for a wedding or similar event. We would certainly book this hotel again on another visit.

This was a very interesting place--an old farmhouse built by the Medici family, and thus rather imposing, as farmhouses go. The interior structure consists of stone arches, with cutouts for the modern elevator and stairways. We thought we had gotten lost driving to the hotel from the highway, but continued along the main road through the center of town and luckily ended up on Via Cesare Battisti. The hotel grounds are a sort of oasis in a suburban area. The hotel was eerily deserted when we arrived, but it was not too long before someone came to check us in. The air of emptiness gave us low expectations for the breakfast buffet, but we were pleasantly surprised, it was very good. The shower drain ran slowly and the shower curtain was yucky along the bottom, but that seemed to be an anomaly; everything else was fine.

Sehr schönes, renoviertes Hotel an sehr ruhiger Lage.

This Hotel is great, especially if you are traveling by car. It's right between Pisa and Florence and is an easy drive either way. There are also lots of other interesting places near by if you have the time to explore. The room was lovely, quiet and had a very nice view. It was great having free wireless available too. Another bonus was having a carpark right outside the Hotel. The breakfast was extensive, although there could have been a few more vege options. The coffee served with breakfast was fantastic too. Would absolutely stay here again, very reasonable price too!

Beautiful ancient mansion in the small village of Monsummano Terme. Not much to do there, but perfect overnight stay to visit the rest of tuscany by car. The structure is very characteristic, with large rooms, original wooden ceilings and original tile floors. Very generous breakfasts and professional staff. Absolutely incomparable price for such a good structure and service.

The price-quality level was just great! Very spacious rooms, good breakfast and very helpful staff. In Monsummano Terme we discovered a very good restaurant: I Sassi - very good food and wines, medium price level. In Montecatini we recommend Corsaro Verde. If you stay longer in Monsummano it's worth it to spend one day in Grotta Giusti.

A wonderful place for who aims to visit Toscana. By car, it is 12 minutes away from Montecantini train station, and half way between Florence & Pisa/Luca. Very peaceful area surrounded by limitless green fields. Ideal for relaxation during holidays… You would definitely need a car!

We spent 2 nights in the hotel. At arrival time (3.30 pm)the room wasn't ready and we waited about 20 minutes. The room was spacious and clean, with air conditioning. The only negative point was the shower, that had an unsuitable curtain. Anyway the rate quality vs. price is excellent.

Its a little off the beaten path. You definately need a car. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast is plentiful and if you have a chance to have dinner - take it. It is wonderful. The town is small and cute; Montecatini is a short distance and should be explored; Florence is about a 30 minute drive and parking can be found. Overall it was a delightlful 3 night stay.

This was a very nice stay. Very quiet rooms and surrondings. Good breakfast (Italian bread, croissants, orange juice, fruits, cereals, tee, coffee...). As French people, we were just missing our traditional salted bread, but this is a detail. I would recommend this hotel for people wishing to rest after a hard day visiting all the beauties of Toscany!
