Impressive breakfast, of utmost quality, much better than in five star hotels. Gracious, humble, very well educated, charmingly available, rare personnel. The owner, a woman, is a wanderful person.

Hotel Berna was a fantastic value for the price! The hospitality event, complete with hors'doeuvres, offered in the bar was beyond compare...really encouraged meeting new people and enjoyable conversations...offering of free mini-bar access was awesome as well...I would recommend the Hotel Berna to anyone traveling to Milan...

The Berna actually has two facilities, the main hotel and an annex directly across the street. We stayed in the annex. The included breakfast, served in the main hotel, offered many choices, and the serving staff was exceptional. The bathroom and shower were large compared to others we encountered on our trip. Although clean, the room smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. Other travelers have mentioned "working women" on the street outside the hotel. Although there were a number of women on the street, none of them bothered us.

I can't believe that we stayed in the same Hotel Berna, based upon many reviewers' statements regarding the rooms. Ours, in the main building, was a Superior Double and was large by Italian standards and had a large bathroom with a large shower. For a 4 star facility it was fairly priced, and the 4 star staff was typically full of themselves. One of the best breakfast buffets of our three week vacation in Italy. Very good location near the train station in order to catch the shuttle to the airport the next morning. Although only 2 or 3 blocks from the station, the directions were very confusing.

The hotel was clean and quite. We were greeted warmly. The breakfast was very good and a good variety. The only problem we had was our luggage was delayed by British Air and the hotel received it but didn't tell us. A small error but they were very sorry. We would diffently stay there again.

This hotel was very nice and comfortable. The rooms were clean and breakfast was the best we had our 10 day tour of Italy! The staff was very friendly and helpful. It so so close to the main train station, which is nice and even closer to a metro entrance which will take you anywhere you want to go!

Hotel Berna is an easy 5 minute walk from the Milan Central train station and 2 minutes away from the subway. We had reserved a double superior room at the hotel. We received a pleasant surprise on arrival when we were upgraded to a double executive room at the Hotel Berna Towers across the street (a picture of the room is on the front page). The Hotel Berna Towers is a brand new 5 floor hotel with very spacious rooms. Our room was by far the nicest room we stayed in during our trip to Italy (we also visted Rome, Florence and Venice, and stayed in hotels in the same price range). The room had a big bathroom with a spacious shower. The bed was very soft with plenty of blankets and pillows. The TV was a flat-screen and it did get two English channels. As advertised by the hotel, the mini-bar is free. Our mini-bar had cans of coke, water, fruit drinks and candy bars. The mini-bar was restocked each day. The breakfast was the best breakfast offering we had while on our trip. The choices were plentiful, including items like eggs and bacon which you don't normally see offered. Finally, the hotel does offer 30 free minutes of internet time, which is a nice bonus. Overall, I would highly recommend Hotel Berna for a traveler looking to spend around $200 to stay in Milan.

Location couldn't be better as it really is within a few hundred yards of the train station. Outside is a bit deceiving as the interior looks great. Extremely clean and modern room with great service. Room has A/C and mini-fridge w/ complimentary drinks. Didn't try the breakfast but it looked good (bit pricey). Arrived a bit before noon but were able to check in. All in all an excellent hotel.

All staff were highly professional and willing to provide assistance. The hotel was of a high class but there was no pretensious feeling apparent. The location was ideal and the room clean. The breakfast provided was probably the best we had in the dozen or so places we stayed at during our 4 weeks tour of France/Italy.

Overall great experience. Very close to central station and friendly staff. Also, great free breakfast included with the price. The rooms were small but I only booked a single, so it was perfect for me. The only complaint I had was the walls were thin so there was a lot of noise throughout the night and I had a room right by the stairs so I could hear everyone running up and down them. I would definitely stay here again :)

The hotel was very convenient to train station. Upon arrival, we were given an upgrade on our room. What a nice surprise! The concierge gave us directions and made a reservation to a wonderful restaurant about two blocks away (Pani y Tulepani). Before dinner we had drinks and tapas in the bar. The breakfast buffet was something we had never seen before! We would definitely stay at the Berna again. The only drawback was the noise throughout the night. However, we learned that the day we arrived was a holiday and with the tall buildings and narrow streets (and with our windows wide open), it was rather noisy. But, who cares? It was a great stay!

We were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived at the Berna after two weeks in mostly country inns in Tuscany. First, the short walk from the train station was a relief. The welcome at the front desk was professional but friendly. The room was attractive (nicer than the photo on the website, actually), comfortable, fairly spacious, and the bathroom was stylish and spotlessly clean, with nice amenities--generous bottles of soap, loofa, bathrobe, and slippers. There were lots of soft pillows on the bed, a down comforter, and good-quality sheets. Also appreciated was the electric kettle, an assortment of teas, biscuits, and complimentary water and juice in the room. As noted by many others guests, we found the breakfast buffet unbelievable in variety and abundance, and especially enjoyed the fresh fruit and the salads and vegetables offered with the scrambled eggs. With breakfast served until 11 a.m., one could easily get by until afternoon without lunch. The staff was also helpful with restaurant recommendations and reservations. The first evening, they directed us to the Ristorante Torriani 25 across the street from the hotel; it was convenient for two weary travellers and the food was adequate, but the atmosphere was a little stiff. Their next recommendation, for Nabucco in the Brera district, was perfect. In terms of the neighborhood, it seemed as safe as one would expect in any big city, near the central train station. Even travelling back to the hotel late in the evening by subway was fine, since there were plenty of other people out and about. We consider the Berna an excellent choice and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

Great value! Was upgraded upon checkin. Room was a little small, but okay for two nights. Bathroom shower was "star trek" type. Breakfast was fantastic. Neighborhood was not the greatest but there was a noticable police presence which made us feel safe. Car was arranged for us for airport upon departure. Was given a nice souvenir upon checkout.

The hotel is obviously working to get the business however the rooms could use some updating. We were too warm, the thermostat was set at too high a temperature and couldn't be lowered and the windows had no screens, didn't stay open easily and mosquitoes got in the room. So - we didn't have a good sleep, being too hot and having mosquitoes buzzing in our ears.

The hotel was in a great location as far as proximity to Centrale train station. The rooms were what we expected...clean, but small. The shower was a challenge...way too small. Breakfast was excellent and the breakfast staff were very helpful and pleasant. The front desk staff could use some lessons in how to deal with people. I found most of the front desk staff efficient, yet without much personality. I felt like I was intruding on them when I asked a question or asked for their help with something. Overall, I would stay at the Hotel Berna again and I would recommend it to friends and family.

We were pleasantly surprised with our accomodations at this family owned hotel. The locations was a short walk (2 blocks) from the central station, close to excellent restaurants and great shopping. The sercurity of the hotel was great (not that we felt threatened), well lighted and access to/from the hotel was monitored by the front desk. We would definately would recommend this hotel and look forward to the next stay when in Milan.

The Hotel Berna was excellent. The location is superb, only 5 minutes walk from the main train station. But watch out if you arrive by shuttle bus from the airport, you arrive at the side entrance, the directions to the hotel are all from the main entrance. I arrived late at night and ended up in a not so nice area before I realized my mistake and went back to the main entrance. The rooms are very good, have all the facilities e.g. safe, hair dryer, nice spacious bathroom etc (which is not in the hotel's website description). A great bonus is the free softdrinks fridge in the room which gets re-filled every day and the absolutely superb breakfast buffet which offers a wide variety for all tastes and is open until 11am. Another plus points these days is the free usage of the internet facility in the lobby, you can get a free voucher for up to 30 minutes usage at a time. The only negative point is the noise level in the room from the street, but I presume all hotels in that area have the same complaint. We had the window open at night, if you leave it shut and the air conditioning on, it should be ok. The staff in the reception, bar and especially the breakfast room are extremely friendly and very eager to help and please. Overall, I would recommend the Hotel Berna absolutely, the price-quality relationship is very good, and the location near the main train station and the great breakfast buffet stand out. I would have no hesitation to come again !

My wife. We did not stay long enough to meet anyone. The hotel was absolutely lovely especially the buffet breakfast. We could go back just for the breakfast. The room was very nice, spotlessly clean and the only negative was we asked for a bath but due to a large booking could only get a shower. A little disappointing.

If you are traveling by train the location is perfect. Though not within walking distance of the historic district, hotel staff will have a taxi at the door in 4 minutes. The staff seemed a little aloof at first but warmed up once they recognized us and were very friendly and helpful. There were people from all over Europe and Asia at the hotel while we were there. We seemed to be some of the few Americans. Of course I must mention the breakfast buffet. It was the best I have ever seen. They even have a jucier there for fresh carrot juice! Also the best hot chocolate I have ever had, and eggs and bacon and sausage and American style toast! And fresh fruit and yogurt and cereal and pastries and everything you could possible want. AND it is served till 11 am which means it can be brunch saving you the cost of lunch. I will definetly stay at the Berna again when I return to Milan for the January sales!
