As everybody says, the hotel has great location. 7 min walk to the Centrale station and 10-15 min easy walk to Duomo. We stayed 9 nights and we never used any transport. We even walked to Meazza stadium for a football game and it was like 80 minutes only. Room was small but very clean and comfortable. Very clean bathroom. People were very nice and always ready to help. Breakfast was tasty and fresh. A perfect place to stay in Milan. If we go back there, it will be Sempione again and I will recommend this to all my friends. We stayed in room 308.

The bathroom is extremely small. Air conditioning is very weak. I feel hot at night. The room is noisy. We can hear people talking in the corridor and knocking of doors at next room. The noise of truck along the road wake me up early in the morning. No free internet is provided although it says in the hotel policy that internet connection in the lobby is included in the price. But the staff is welcoming and friendly.

The the hotel was really hot from mid morning and temps reached 30C in Milan during our stay. The airconditioning is adjusted from reception, not your room which is inconvenient. When we rang reception we were informed "we switch off the airconditioning while the rooms are being cleaned". Preparing for an event I was reporting on until 2pm in our room became extremely uncomfortable. (I'd hate to stay there while it's snowing.) Noise from roadworks opposite the hotel didn't help. Breakfast is included, but unless you ask they won't tell you and there's no information in your hotel room reminding you of the times the breakfast room is open. Don't expect a later breakfast on Sundays either - we missed out. IMO these a sly ways of cost cutting. Three pluses-Venere offered 50% off the rack rate; the room was spotless and looked very new; 5 euro for 24 hours of in-room wifi.

The hotel was really nice, recently revamp everything was clean and tidy. Fantastic location near to Republica and Central Station. The staff was really helpful when we need to extend for two more nights and they did almost for the same price average of 65 Euros. They still need to improve breakfast with some cereals and cheese and also check the air conditioning.

There was some confusion about my reservation, as I had changed it a few weeks before my arrival, but the cancellation of the original never went through. The management finally compromised on the fee. I didn't have to pay in full for the extra room, but I did have to pay a 45 Euro penalty for the mix-up. The desk clerks were very friendly and very apologetic about the extra charge. My room was brand new, modern, well lit, and lovely. The handicap accessible shower was difficult as I could not help wetting down the entire bathroom despite a surplus of towels and mats provided for containment. Breakfast was basic but okay. Convenient to the Repubblica Metro stop and only a 7 - 10 minute walk to Stazione Centrale. A very good value for the price.

I can understand they were renovating the hotel so had both old and new rooms (we ended up in one of the olds), but there's no excuse for the terrible morniing breakfast. Very few things, cheap coffee, cheap croissants, and I didn't even dare to try the rest. It's in a wonderful position, but they have to work a lot on friendliness and services offered.

NOT BOOK IN this hotel. Staff closed not careful to the customer. Approximately 4/5 days before the stay (1 night) I have asked the courtesy, for serious issues of health, to cancel a double one room (I had reserved also 2 triple rooms). Room delate, has not been granted me although Venere.com specified to talk to the hotel after 10 days previewed for the cancellation. CROWDS in low season to Milan, city business, during Italian FESTIVITY of 2 June, to ask 10 days for warning in order to cancel a reservation. Moreover to our arrival, the famous double room for which we had asked the cancellation, NOT READY when we arrived. We have had to attend for having the keys. UNPLEASANT staff. I NOT ADVICE ALSO VENERE.COM.

Overall a nice hotel to stay at in Milan. The rooms are rather utilitarian, so this isn't a place to spend all day. However if you want a hotel midway between the main train station and downtown (and Corso Buenos Ares), with a friendly, trendy bar next door, close to some public gardens, a great sushi restaurant (Shun), and within easy walking distance of central Milan (Duomo and castle) for a fair price, this is your place. Make sure you book online, however, as online bookings are typically around 70-80 Euro, while the walk-in off street price is 120! Again though - this isn't a day spa - just a place to leave your luggage, take a shower, and get some shuteye. Then again, if you're traveling to Milan to enjoy the hotel, you should probably ask yourself what you're doing traveling in the first place...

Terrible hotel. We booked a room with a double bed and were given one with two twin beds. The room was very hot. The room was extremely noisy. Hotel staff were not very welcoming. Breakfast was good though. The location was good as well - about a 5 minute walk from the main station, 20 minutes to the main square and shops. Although the price was low, we did not get what we paid for. I highly recommend you stay elsewhere.

just two blocks from subway (Repubblic) and one stop or short walk to central train station. Few stops to Duomo & La Scala. Very good breakfast at hotel. Watch out for a "service fee" at next door sit-down restaurant because the tables have linens! This includes ordering just a snack rather than full meal!! I refused to pay it.

Staff not very interested in pleasing guests. They don't seem to think a guest should feel welcome. The property was being remodelled and HAMMERING started at 8 in the morning - a bit too early for those who are on vacation and can afford sleeping a bit more. This shows how insensitive they are at the Sempione. It has to be said that regardless their announcing that wi-fi internet was free of charge they bill you 5 euros a day for its use. When I complained they claimed it was Venere's mistake.

A hotel located very conveniently between the main railway station and the city centre (15 min walking distance or tram to Duomo). A free WiFi connection was perfect. There were some renovations running on relatively early in the morning, probably performed now due to bassa stagione (low season) and/or beginning of the year.

Except the really few space that the room had (but it was a single room, so I was going to expect it..) the WORST thing I had to bear was the smell of SMOKE coming in from I don't know where!! I think that it was coming from the heating grinds. I told that to the reception and they told me "Maybe someone is still smoking even if it's banned". I guessed they would have made me a discount but it remained a dream. By the way, the hotel is a good solution if you have to stay for just one night and don't want to spend a lot of money staying in the center.

At least in our room we only could sleep with closed windows because of the air condition turbines in the inner courtyard and they were inconceivable loud! Only between 1:00-6:00 they are off or something like that. In the room there was an air condition which directly blows on the bed und you can't turn it off (at least we couldn't find something). Welcome chill!

When somebody in an neighbouring room do take a bath in the middle of the night, what happened, the tired sleeper has the impression that somebody is taking a shower in your own bathroom. So, noise-insulation is not the quality of the rooms we had the pleasure to pass our Milano-night.

We stayed in Hotel Sempione for three nights this August and everything went well. The room was a little bit small, but clean. It had everything we needed. The breakfast was great, with many options - great cappucino and different fresh made cake each day. The only trouble I had was controlling the warmth of the water during the shower. Besides that there were some noise related to works being done on the hotel. It's really near Stazione Centrale and at arrival we took a taxi because it was late and it was raining. We paid 20 euros for a twelve minutes (top!) walk. We enjoyed our stay in Sempione very much and I guess we'd said there in a next trip to Milano.

Hotel was clean neat and well looked after. Staff was good and very courteous. Rooms were fairly large compared to several other hotels that I've stayed in Europe for the same price. For some reason the air conditioning in the hotel kept breaking down continuously - even in the middle of the night. I stayed for 10 nights during July when temperatures were hitting 38 degree C. Most of the time the air conditioning was not working. When it was working, it wasn't sufficent to cool the room - just the fans running.

hotel is inflexible in interfacing with Venere. I booked through venere on line for 5 nights. When I wanted to change to 4 nights, neither Venere nor Sempione can 'modify' my booking for me. In the end, I had to cancel and make a new booking. Further, there was a problem with my credit card details, so the hotel did not hold the room for me. neither the hotel or Venere attempted to notify me about the problem. When I arrived, the room was gone, and the hotel could only offer me a more expensive room!

This was perhaps the worst hotel that we stayed in in Italy. The man at the front desk was completely unhelpful and rude. Though the hotel claimed to have parking, when we arrived and I asked where the garage for the hotel was, he just pointed me towards the 20 Euro a night municipal garages. I'm still not sure if this was the "hotel parking" they provided or if because my Italian wasn't up to par, he just didn't want to give me the inside scoop. Either way– not a fortuitous beginning to our stay. Our room smelled like urine. We thought it was just the bathroom and tried to air it out but with no success. We probably should have asked to be moved to a different room but our previous encounter with the front desk man didn't encourage us, so we stayed in the stinky room. We figured it was just one night, but it turned into one night of no sleep. The walls and ceilings, for that matter, were very thin. When a rowdy group of teenagers came in, it was like they were in the room. They actually banged on our our door repeatedly and called the room several times, I believe, somehow convinced that some of their friends were staying in our room. And then of course, there was the toilet that made a noise somewhat akin to a power tool about every half hour. Luckily I had to get up early to catch my plane but if I had not, I'm sure I would have been awaken by the huge construction project going right next to the hotel. The shower was ridiculously small even by Italian hotel standards. I am a very short, very slight woman, and I could barely move around in it enough to clean myself. Perhaps a luxurious breakfast made up for all these negatives, but I cannot say because I had to leave too early to partake of it. There were a few positives– free wireless was nice and the location is not bad. There is not really anything of interest near by, but it is very convenient to the subway which will take you anywhere. But there are many hotels in this area, choose one of them instead.

Good relation Price/quality. I thought the hotel was closer to the downtown, there is not much to do at night in the surroundings, just one nice bar nearby but drinks rather expensive (10€). Staff is friendly & helpful, breakfast turns out boring when staying many days but ok. Coffee freshly made for every guest with the expresso machine which it's nice. The room is clean but small, specially the bathroom. From the train main station (Milano centrale) it takes only 10 walking min to reach the hotel. Repubblica metro station is very close. I asked for a quiet room on a high floor & they met my request. If you can try the hotel's restaurant, food & waiter service are excellent. My stay was rather satisfactory. I made my reservation 2 days before travelling but everything went ok. As I like to go out at night I'd probably stay in a hotel closer to the downtown or Navigli area the next time but I will keep good memories of my stay at the hotel Sempione.

Sempione is very good for its price. A pleasant detail - Crystal Lounge Bar is right near the hotel. Not very good - there's a road work now on Finnochiaro street...

We spent 3nights in this hotel, and loved it from the first second till the last. The room was big enough, and clean, and nicely decorated (colored walls, nice bedcover, mirrors!). Bathroom was clean, with a lot of towels, showergel, soap, shoeshiner.. Breakfast was alright, nothing special. cafe, tea, rolls, ham (if you go early :), cheeses, croissant. The citycenter is in a 15min walk, or 2stops (or 3 i dont remember) by metro. Trainstation is in the same distance, but on the opposite side.

- the photos on the web could be much better, because the reality surely is... - superb location, 3 underground stations from Duomo - 10 minutes by walk to Central Station - 5 minutes by walk to Corso Buenos Aires - had a room No. 403 : small, but very comfortable, clean & cosy

Excellent welcome, very pleasant staff. Would recommend hotel. Room was a little small for 4 beds, but we weren't there much so it worked fine. Clothing shopping was great.

The hotel was going through renovations and my floor(4th) was complete. It was small, but very comfortable! I was in Milano for business and I would recomend this hotel. It was very close to the central station. The breakfast was very very good. But most important it had GREAT air conditioning as I was there in the summer. MOLTA BENE!

Nice hotel to stay. for us, room spaciousness is not an issue, so we didn't mind a small room. Room was clean and practical. front desk person was kind when we asked questions.

As you can see I often go back to this hotel when I stay in Milan. That's because the staff is VERY kind and helpful; the price is usually very convenient; the area is good to move around in Milan, close to the Metro... Yes rooms arent very big, the bathroom is small and the breakfast is simple, but I value really much the service they provide. For me it's one of best 3stars hotels I've ever tried in Milan.

Location is a bit far from center city if your walking, but is reflected in the good value

Ansonsten sehr empfehlenswert!

Hotel Sempione is a good hotel in Milan. The hotel claims to be close to the Milano Centrale train station, which is not really the case (it is only one metro stop, but quite a long and confusing walk!). The room was OK, though it had a miniature bathroom. I enjoyed my stay, mostly because it is a fine hotel at the prince I paid (37 euros).

We were traveling in as a family of 5. We had one double and one triple room. The rooms were very nice but small. The rooms were a little on the warm side (78 degrees) but most of the hotels we stayed at were like that. We had mini fridge in the room which was nice. The staff was very friendly. Breakfast was wonderful. You have to try the chocolate croissants. It was nicely located, only a 15 minute walk from the central train station. We would stay here again.

Rooms were adequate for me as I was staying only one night on two occasions. Second room had a separate room with a sink and another enclosure for shower and toilet. Wonderful. The rooms were spotlessly clean.Staff were very helpful especially Angelo. It was close to the railway station and walked it once in 10 minutes;the other times I took a cab because of a heavy suitcase and it was terribly hot!One driver was angry and verbally abusive because it was a short fare, but he calmed down and charged me a fair fare! It's a nice little hotel and I'd stay there again.
