Wonderful hotel - excellent location (just a few steps from the Duomo - which made finding it a bit easier), beautiful lobby, well-appointed, lovely bedrooms, modern and clean bathrooms. Very attentive staff.
The hallways to the rooms were a bit worn but it doesn't matter since the lobby, rooms and bathrooms were all top-notch and obviously recently renovated.
We would definitely stay here any time we are in Milan.

The location is great for a short stay in Milano. We stayed there the night before our return to the USA and the location allowed us to see the main sights and, conveniently, get to the airport. Getting to the hotel in a car was a challenge, but that is the trade-off with the proximity to the city. The room was very clean and modern. It was also very quiet even though we could see the corner of the Duomo from our window. Excellent choice for business or leisure travelers.

Nice, comfortable modern hotel conveniently located on quiet street behind Duomo. Professional staff. Hotel restaurant expensive but very good - only restaurant worth the price in imediate area. Breakfast was a decent buffet.

This is an excellent location for all the main attractions and don't think you could get anywhere handier for the cost.
Staff great (especially when dealing with very drunk Englishman!)
Highly recommended.

Excellent location in a quiet street, just a few steps from the Duomo and shops, therefore the 10 for "hotel surroundings". Nice rooms; good working airconditioning; breakfast buffet was good but a broader choice would be more appropriate for this kind of hotel.
But overall, it's a real 4 star hotel.

Travelers be aware that if you make a reservation the hotel will charge you as per reservation never mind if you want to leave earlier, as they did to me. You pay what you reserve, not what you really used. This is practice you can not find anywhere in the world. I even don't want to comment Italian "efficiency".

starhotel rosa is a classic hotel. the rooms are quiet and modern furnished. since 3 years we visit milan every january and we stay at the starhotel rosa. it is the best hotel if you want to be very close to the shops and the center, you do not need a car.

Good location, but the staff is terrible (excluding a receptionist named Sami who was quite helpful) they did not provide a renovated room and asked for an additional charge if we would upgrade to the renovated room. The hotel is still under renovation and to get to the hotel with a car is almost impossible and they charge for the parking (42 Euros per night).

The hotel was big, but well run, clean & in a great location. The front desk was always helpful & friendly, and offered worthwhile suggestions for area resturaunts and assisting with directions. Two hotel representatives, Jenny & Fabio were as good as you could ever expect hotel staff to be. I would reccomend Star Rosa for anyone.

I highly recommend this hotel. The location of the hotel is ideal for sightseeing and shopping, and although some European four-star hotels disappoint those accustomed to North American standards, this one will not, particularly given the price-point.

This hotel is in an excellent location, but some of the rooms are terribly rundown, by luck I did not have to stay in one, but some other couples in my party had terrible rooms (old and rundown at least with good beds). It is in the process of renewal, but it is to slow (last year was like this year) and the hallways are every year in worst condition. The public areas are top quality, restaurants, Gym, lobby, office desk, bars, and the rooms refurbished are also good, but the hallways in room flors and the rooms that are not lower the quality of this hotel.

We felt that the staff was not welcoming - very snooty actually. The room was small and the beds were very uncomfortable - the worst on our trip. We had a room next to a construction site and the view was of the stairwell. We would not stay there again.

We stayed in the hotel for just one night as a part of our honeymoon. I mentioned this when booking. To our most pleasant surprise this had resulted in an upgrade to an executive room. The room was very spacious, apart for a regular sized bathroom, and completely quiet. No noise from the city life at all. The room rate would have been rather nice also without the upgrade. With the upgrade it was a real bargain. Probably the most value-for-money I have ever experienced in Italy.
The staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast included everything you really need to enjoy it. The location of the hotel is perfect for the traveller who wants a central base for his exploration of Milan, with the Duomo and the subway just a few meters away.

I have a very mixed reaction to this property. Of course, the location was great - we were able to walk to the Duomo, shopping and great restaurants. However, the rooms themselves leave something to be desired. The first room they gave us was so small, dark (one tiny window looking at the roof) and dirty (the walls were damaged in several places and stains on the carpet) that I immediately called the desk and asked for another room. The next room they gave us was better, and resulted in a satisfactory stay here. I would suggest that the hotel take that first room (I think it was 215?) out of service and only rent it out during emergency overbooking situations.

A convenient, large hotel beautifully located. Our room faced a tiny dusty courtyard that somehow always smelled of cigarette smoke. But then two steps away was the duomo and central Milan. Nothing interesting or cute about the place, but a clean convenient room, at a rather high price.

The location of this hotel could not have been better. There is construction going on next to the hotel but the room we had was very quiet. There is not much of a view from any of the rooms, as we asked for a view and were told that only two rooms had a very limited view of the duomo and they were taken. Our room was an upgraded and renovated room with a very large bathroom and a very nice choice of amenities. The halls of the hotel are like a labyrinth. The breakfast choice was excellent. All the employees we dealt with were personable and helpful. We would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again. There were two very reasonably priced restaurants just behind the hotel - the Bruchetta and the Al Conte Ugolino but ensure that you make reservations and at the Bruchetta ask for both the Italian and English menus or you will miss out on interesting dishes.

This is en excellent hotel within a stone's throw from the Duomo. Rooms are petite but clean with modern amenities and are very quiet. I have paid much more in Italy for much less in a hotel room.

When booking the room I expected the price in US$ to be $370. What we got charged was $430 euros - VERY EXPENSIVE for a small unspectacular room with absolutely no view. With that being said, the location is fabulous. You can walk to everything. The lobby and reception area are nice but the dining room didn't appear to be open except for breakfast. The breakfast presentation was very nice as well. We were there during the Olympics to I do feel the price was a rip-off and they were not full.

We booked a twin room on the first night and a triple room on the second night of our stay, as one of my friends joined us only on the second day. We managed to keep the same room for the whole stay, but the room was too small for three beds on the second night, as an extra bed was brought in to the twin bed room. Apart from this, we had a pleasant stay at the hotel.

The hotel staff was wonderful. They took time to answer all our questions and if you knew me you would know what a big statement this is. In fact they upgraded our room. Please let them know that I have recommended the hotel to my friends here and hope to return soon.

Although the website may say that internet access is inluded in the price, it is not. We mentioned that Venere.com listed their hotel as having free internet, and we were apprised by the very rude front desk clerk that "nothing is free in Milan". There's an internet point about 10 minutes away where you can purchase 30 minutes for approx 10 eu - bring your passport. Also, we had to argue with the front desk that we had specified a double bed (and not 2 single beds) for our honeymoon stay, even though our printed confirmation from Venere clearly indicated this. There is no onsite parking, contrary to the website. Parking is 30 eu/night at the Piazza Diaz, a nice underground garage about a 5 minute labrynthine walk away. The breakfast is good, but the staff is so curt that it's hardly worth the extra money.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The rooms and especially the lobby/bar area were very impressive. The only draw back would be the view from the room, otherwise the location was very convenient to the major attractions.

Sehr freundlicher Empfang.

Excellent hotel, very good restaurant, huge room, very clean and silent.Excellent bathroom, with all amenities required.
Excellent location, one block from the Duomo.
The only thing I didn´t like was the attitude of the staff at the front desk: very unhelpful and cold, almost disdainful whenever I had to ask them for information.
