The hotel is not in the Sorrento town - it is a 15-20 min bus ride away which we did not feel was clear from the booking site.
Otherwise the hotel was comfortable and there were good beach facilities on the pebbles.

The hotel was beautiful, location superb, however, the friendliness of the staff was not so good. Day we arrived after a long drive from Rome, it was hot, they had a wedding so we were not allowed to go to the beach or use the pool which was dissapointing. I complained to management & they kindly offered us complimentary dinner however, I must say that we felt that this was done in such a way that we felt that we were the problem.

Here you are the fifth star, since you arrive all the staff will take care of you and any of your needs. The Hotel is full of marble and Murano crystal, very elegant and with your own beach where to enjoy. The breakfast was very generous. If you have a car is the best, if not, the hotel will provide a shuttle bus. During the weekend, they have a Tarantella Show for the guests. Highly recommended Hotel.

It sure is not a 4 star hotel, people at the front desk not helpfull, inside and outside pools not functioning. Rooms and public areas need maintenace very badly, bath cipped marble with no shower curtain or screen.we decided to eat at the restaurant we were give a fixed menu of 4 couse dinner with no choice, food was poor and price was too high Euro 40 per person excluding drinks. When we complained at the front desk he just told us that it was not him to discuss prices, but the management,we insisted to talk to the management he told us that management was not available at 10.00am.No porter available. Very disappointed.

We have a very nice service and feel very good in the hotel as a hole.
Unfortunatly for us we only stayed one day, but we have the idea to get back and spend at list one week as soon as we have the posibility to go to Italy again.
Thanks to all the Alimuri employes.
(sorry form the mistake, but I´m not so familiar with English)

My husband and I had a fantastic experience at this hotel in October 2005. We had originally booked a double room, and when we learned it faced the parking lot, I asked if we could change rooms. Even though I offered to pay extra, they upgraded us--at no extra cost--to an ocean-front suite that had a 2 person jacuzzi in it. After a long-day of sight-seeing, it was wonderful to come back to this room! Also, the hotel has its own beach, a pool, and a day spa of sorts.
Despite our good experience here, I'm not sure we'd stay at this hotel again. First, it's in Meta and not Sorrento. While the hotel runs a shuttle and there's a city bus, we disliked having to schedule our day around bus/shuttle times (it takes about 20 minutes to get from Meta to Sorrento). Plus, other than the hotel restaurant (which we heard bad things about), there is only one (rather expensive) restaurant near the hotel, and it primarily served seafood. There were other restaurants in Meta, but they always seemed closed.
If you're looking to go on day trips and otherwise explore the area, I would stay actually in Sorrento. If you're planning on spending most days on the beach and don't mind spending time "commuting," the Mar Hotel Alimuri is a great choice.

There are staff that are nice there are ones that are not too helpful and friendly. If you work on a service industry it is expected from you to be people person and helpful. The room and the hotel is very clean. FAR from Centro, it would be nice if it will indicate how many minutes is it from the centro. It is NOT too convenient when you go back to the hotel from centro late at night. It cost so much money when you take a cab. If you add the cost of the taxi to the price of the hotel it is a LOT. There is not much happening in the area where the hotel is situated. There are people at the front desk that are not too helpful and friendly but there ones that are. One good thing about it is it has it's own beach.

Great hotel, much cheaper than staying in Sorrento but still with excellent links to local trains & buses.
Only negatives are there weren't many young people staying there.
Also, no public transport directions to the hotel from the website. And I don't remember it saying the pool is closed (due to reopen in May but I doubt it would be ready for May 1st!).

After a month in Italy, the Marhotel was an excellent place in which to spend our last days there. A quiet, comfortable room overlooking the ocean. Even a big enough shower for me to fit in! The food and service was superb, and the price was better than expected. Highly recommended!!

5 kilometers out of Sorrento this hotel benefits from a West facing view - great sunsets!
Superb rooms (almost) all with sea view and balcony. Very quiet as it is 90% of the way down a cul-de-sac along the beach

no directions available. If you do not have a local map you'll never find it. Well only if you take a taxi or travel by bus with the group. When you drive make sure that you get directions ahead. Very confusing little streets of Meta Not SOrrento. But the hotel and the vies is worthy even at the end of October! Food is excellent, rooms clean and atmosphere great. Night staff does not care much the day's is different. Restaurant service 10 plus. Very good connection by bus or train to all attractions - Amalfi, Pompei Vesuv. DO not drive. Insane!!!! Great views and nice folks. Al lot of German tourists. Locals helpful - little ENgl. spoken.
Not for newleweds or women alone. You do not want to travel on bus at night. It's safe but not a great feeling. Well as anywhere in the world when you do not know the area. OK shopiing though ROme has better bargains.
Buy lemoncello!!!

The quality ratio to the price 70 Eur/double was more than acceptable. The small comments for improvements: The A/C fan could not be regulated, just on/off and was a bit noisy in the night. The massage function in the tub did not work. We missed fresh vegetables at the breakfast.

One of the loveliest Hotel rooms I've ever been in. Honestly, the room was a dream, the interiors, the architecture, how it is designed, the bed (I felt like a fairy-tale prince in there), the atmosphere, the huge space, the view to the sea, the quietness. Fantastic. Unbeaten yet! BUT:
OK, it was beginning of season, the Hotel was very empty, so maybe they were all a bit frustrated or haven't got into gear yet, but the service, escpecially the reception, how they treat you and how they respond to your requests, it's like they are annoyed with your presence and you really need to kick some butts to get things going. I like the Italian style, the coolness how they do business, I'm familiar with it and adapt to it once in Italy, I do a lot of business in Italy, basically spend months in this lovely country. So I don't think I did have the wrong expectations. So forget about them. The restaurant staff though is nice and courteous, if you don't ask too much ;-)
The breakfast OK, nothing outstanding. The only big disadvantage of the Hotel might be the location. It's a 15min busride away from Sorrento center, so you need time and hopefuly like to enjoy rides on the bus (where you can can experience the locals and the small villages surrounding Sorrento), otherwise it's a nuisance. But if you have a car, or can afford taxis and like the seclusion and quietness of a private beach and an really excellent Restaurant just nearby, then it's a lovely place to go. Swimming pool clean. If you like to walk up step hills, you can do so and discover Southern Italian villages with their postcard views and calmative ambiance.

The hotel and it's beach are lovely with the atmosphere of rather faded grandeur adding to it's charm. The outside decoration at the back of the hotel and the terrace are in need of attention and the bathrooms should be updated to qualify for 4 stars. However, these small things are more than compensated for by the rest of the hotel and it's helpful and friendly staff. NOT TO BE MISSED is the restaurant LA CONCA next door to the hotel. The owner, Antonio, treats every customer as an honoured guest and the food is magnificent, served in the wonderful setting overlooking the sea. It is worth the trip to Meta just to visit this restaurant.

the place is very unique, just in front of the private beach, quite. If you want you can forget your car and travel by bus. The is located at the end of the road and a little bit far from any city amenyties .
Maybe because it was "low season" (end of March but during Easter) , the room price was very cheap for the 4star classification.
Breackfast was very reach, but the last entrance at the buffet was too earlier (9:am), same for dinner (7.30:pm!!!). They accepted us at 8:pm. It is odd for southern habit!

I sat on a chair on the balcony and marked my only trousers. After washing by the hotel the chair marks could not be removed and I was told they were caused by salt. I have requested that their insurance may cover it but have not heard back.
There was also a gym advertised but it is not operating yet and dont believe the prices of the beauty services in the room. I booked an hour massage and received 1/2 an hour and was charged for 1 hour and the massuer was very inexperienced and light handed. Apart from that it was a nice place to stay and the manager Nello was very nice.

Reception personell was incompetent !! We have stayed at many hotels around the world and this personell were the worst !!
Their english were very poor. Community Bus did not go for two days due to road work. Still the reception personell were selling bustickets and did not notice us. Not a smile ever neither a goodbye when we left the hotel.
The restaurant people were good though.
