WONDERFUL PLACE TO STAY.
Mature couple
Canada, May 2008
The room we had was very small and had a very bad smell - like sewage. The lobby and other public areas we saw were acceptable but not as stylish as I had anticipated from the photographs. The location was superb - very close to major sites. Staff were friendly and fairly helpful. I would not choose this hotel again.

This was our first stay in Madrid and the hotel suited us perfectly. It is ideally located within walking distance of many of the city highlights and transport services. The hearty breakfast was a perfect start to our busy days in Madrid

The hotel is in a very central location on a pedestrians street. The metro, buses, a bank, and shopping is right at the door. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The pictures on the net showed the room design and layout but the space is very small for a triple compared to what we have in the states. Breakfast was super and at a great price for Europe - 8euros all you can eat.

It was a very nice hotel right in the heart of Madrid City. It was a bit noicy outside and our aircondition was not working.

The staff was very polite and helpful. The hotel had free internet access in their business center, which was great. The room itself was actually bigger than I expected based on the pictures. The only surprise was the bathroom, which had no locks and was opaque glass with a 1 foot by one foot see-through square in one door.

Excellent location! Some noise during night-time from "partying people" in the street outside of the hotel. Situated in a nice area! 2 minutes from the closest Metro.

Happy with the hotel. Good room for family of four (11 & 13yr old). Very clean & hotel's facilities met our needs for a 2 night stay in Madrid. Bathroom was great. Very central hotel, perfect for sightseeing - on the doorstep or walking distance to most city tourist spots (also very close to public transport).
New Zealand, Jun 2006
The room was not cleaned properly - the rubbish was not collected or the rooms swept or dusted from day to day. The cups were left dirty on the sink and the sink was never cleaned. The hotel would have to be the noisest hotel I have ever stayed in. There are two discos in the same street and on our last nght at the hotel we did not get any sleep. When I mentioned these two issues to the reception staff they seemed rather disinterested in my comments.

The place was very nice! i thought it was a lovely, updated room with style and was a great location to top it off. I was hoping for the staff to help more on recommendations on places to eat, but we found our places all the same.

Great Location! There are two Petit Palaces on the one street so make sure you are checking in at the right one. Room was very clean but small as they are in Europe. The staff was excellent and very friendly.

Even though the hotel location was great we decided to leave this hotel earlier because the room we were assigned was quite dirty and noisy. Besides It would be honest to specify there are no public areas available in this property.I wouldn't recommend this Hotel.

METRO STOP : SOL, not Atocha. It is two blocks from Sol, and a mile from Atocha. A block from Petit Palace Puerta de Sol. Sol is the center of Madrid, and probably the best location in Madrid for tourist. The room was nice, but the bed was kind of dirty, with visible stains on the sheets and mattress itself. The glass bathroom door sounds cool and is a very interesting idea, except until you need to go use the toilet to take a dump. There is no vent in the bathroom or lock, so the odor gets in to the whole room pretty quickly and you can see thru the glass, not a pretty sight. NOT RECOMMENDED FOR THE AMERICAN FAMILY. The safe is the best feature of the room as you can use it by sliding any card with a magnetic strip through it to lock and unlock.

Real 5 star quality room for a 3 star price with very central location. Only quietness of room is not good enough as mine was over a crowded street. But the rest is unbelievable. I did not take breakfast at the hotel (11€ is too expensive). I recommend.

You can't beat the location of this hotel-especially for the price. It was clean and the interior was modern and pretty cool. The rooms are small, but this did not detract from our stay in any way. How much time are you spending in your hotel room when you are in Madrid??? I totally recommend.

My wife and I were not happy with this stay unfortunately. It is rather one of the worst experiences we've ever had. The room smelled sewage all night long. The front desk employee were nice but amateur. If you still want to stay in this hotel, check the room before you sign up.

Good city centre position but be careful if taking a car. The only (off street) parking available is a public underground park about 100 metres away. This is expensive - 28 euros per day when I stayed. A modern, clean and well run hotel, ideal for a city break.

Having the bathroom separated from the rest of the room by a glass wall that was not frosted in some areas was disturbing. The rooms were much smaller then expected, but for the price and location it was wonderful.

We're three girlfriends traveling together, the family size room was spacious and clean, we had a balcony which opened to the street, right across from "Joy". Staff was friendly, and spoke "some" English. The breakfast was on discount for 10 euros, and was quite nice. The only thing that bothered me a little was the bathroom, there was no actual bath "room", it was only a foggy glass.

Reasonable price for this prefect location. The hotel is right in downtown and we have no problem access to the tourists spots, shopping areas, train stations. I would surely recommend this hotel to anyone who is travelling in Madrid.

This hotel is in a good location and good for the price. The rooms are very small but typical for European standards. The staff was friendly and spoke English well. It is not too easy to find parking if you arrive by car. We had a room on the backside of the hotel which was very quiet. Showers are great!

Petite Palace was clean and friendly. The staff was very helpful...particularly as we speak minimal Spanish. It is centrally located in the heart of Madrid. The noise from other parts of the hotel (thin walls) did not interfere with our stay. We recommend this hotel.

At first I have to say that this hotel is nice. But still, I don't think that I can use Excellent for some of its parameters and I also think that average isn't that bad. So don't get wrong my rating. Staff in the hotel is really nice and helpful, rooms are clean and well equipped. Great plus (for me) was the free internet. But don't forget to bring your own ethernet cable! Hotel is situated in one of most crowded streets in Madrid, but still quiet enough (at least my room was). Hotel's public areas are small, but you won't need any bigger (probably). Location is excellent. Generally I liked to stay there, it's a nice above-average hotel in this price range.

After spending three weeks around Spain and Italy, the Petit Palace Arenal was the perfect way to end our trip. After dealing with low-pressure, handheld shower nozzles for our entire trip, the showers with their body nozzles and rainforest head at this property were a welcoming feature. I must have been in the shower for at least 30 minutes. The furnishings in the room were very modern and exactly as pictured in the hotel listings. In-room complimentary DSL was perfect, considering I brought my laptop with me. The location of this property is excellent, especially if you like being just meters away from Puerta del Sol.

Giusy
