Hotel Best Western Bellevue au Lac - Lugano

the room that we booked (double with lake view)was not available for some reason; so they pretended that we should take the best room of the hotel, i.e. the Suite Royale, in the same price. We of course agreed. BUT this was an awful suite with no view of the lake (its view was of the backyard), awfully furnished and smelling patcouli. It did not seem to be perfectly clean as well. The whole hotel was of an extremely cheap oriental-like taste, patchouli smelling, with a very small and narrow lift, nobody helped us with the luggage although it was supposed to be a 4 stars hotel if I remember well; it was very noisy, its half-open air restaurant was only non smoking, so we decided to leave and we did well. Because of our experience of hotels and of Swiss hotels as well, we have to say that this thing was totally unexpected. The only thing that was worthy was its place and view, if one should be lucky enough to get it. And it is the only excuse for the hotel prices: you pay for the view, not for the hotel.

Unser Aufenthalt verlief sehr enttäuschend. Wir wurden in unserem eigenen Hotelzimmer (vom Personal?) bestohlen. Unter unserem Bett lag Müll. Die Minibar war schmutzig und verkrustet. Wir fanden keine zwei gleichen Gläser... Am nächsten Morgen wurden die schmutzigen Gläser nicht einmal abgeräumt. Während dem Baden fiel mir ein Metallteil der Duschtrennwand auf den Kopf. Eine der Bettlatten brach auseinander. Die Reklamationen wurden zwar angenommen, doch passiert ist nicht viel; der Portier hat zwar die Minibar gereinigt, doch Gläser und Trennwand hat er nicht mitgenommen. Auch der Müll unter dem Bett wurde nicht entfernt. Während der Abklärung des Zimmerdiebstahls befand es der Direktor nicht einmal für nötig vor Ort zu erscheinen. Er zog es stattdessen vor, gemäss Auskunft der Rezeptionistin, sonntagvormittags auszuschlafen. Wir sind entsetzt, dass es in der Schweiz möglich ist, so ein Vier-Sterne-Hotel zu führen!

Lovely corner room with beautiful lake views and two balconies. Quality furnishings, spacious, very good breakfast with extremely professional and friendly staff who remembered each guests nationality (and spoken language after the first meeting)

A very pleasant unpretentious hotel, wonderfully located with magnificent views. The in-house restaurant slightly lacked in atmosphere but more than made up for this in its excellent food and wine and friendly and professional service. We tried others in the town but kept returning here.

Great Location, very close to Lugano Lake boats, and five minutes to the middle of town
