This is a highly professional operation. One of the front desk workers was a bit unfriendly, but the rest of the staff was very warm and helpful, showing great concern when my husband came down with a stomach virus. The room was pleasant and airy, although the bed was quite hard and the pillows were very flat. There is a lovely back yard as well as a comfortable sitting room in which to relax. A path almost directly in front of the hotel takes you under the wall and into the historic city.

Excellent location just outside the old city wall. On site parking is a bonus. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. Bathroom was clean and spacious. We would definitely return.

This is an attractive property conveniently located just across the road from Lucca's Renaissance wall, a 5 minute walk from the Porta Santa Maria. The on-site parking is a plus in Lucca. Our room and the public areas were clean, the staff friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was excellent (the best of our 2 weeks in Italy). On the negative side, although we booked a double, the room in fact had side-by-side twin beds. Otherwise, the hotel met our needs perfectly and we would recommend it highly.

We had a delightful stay. The location was good, within easy walking distance of all the city sights. We found the charges were at the very top end of what might be considered reasonable, but would probably stay again if the prices came down a little. The staff were very courteous and friendly.

We liked the private feel of the place, with just 9 rooms in an attractively refurbished house rather than a big commercial establishment. The room was large, with a big bureau for clothes, but lacked an easy chair. Beds needed new mattresses. Bathroom was big and pretty but had odd shower - no walls or curtain. No mini-bar. Good location - right across from a path through the old walls, and close to automobile gates. The staff helped us find some great restaurants. Lucca is a great place.

My wife and I enjoyed Villa Agnese and Lucca, which was our first stop on a lovely 8 day journey through Tuscany and Liguria. Our room overlooked the side and rear gardens, and featured an emerald green bathroom that was straight from Oz. The hotel's excellent location made it easy to walk to the main gate of the walled city. Parking was free and at the end of our stay we were able to drive out of town smoothly to our next stop.

Nice place, although the 4 star rating might be questionable. Not very practical furniture -very small desk, no sitting area- and one of the smallest tv:s I've seen. Paying €100 low season was ok but it's not worth more.

We arrived in the middle of a heat wave, tired, hot and hungry. The basket of fruit and stocked mini bar were a welcome respite. Bathroom was modern and spacious-a great shower! Reception was a bit chilly, but perhaps with the heat, everyone was grumpy.

We asked for and were given a room at the rear of the Villa and thoroughly enjoyed our three days stay! Well located just outside the walls of the town, we had minor difficulty in finding the villa but a phone call rectified this. We felt very much at home in this small hotel, the staff were extremely friendly and we could not have wished for a more pleasant stay.
