The room that we've gotten was small. However the most shocking thing was almost absence of windows. It was like two small slits near to the ceiling.

The hotel is very good and the staff is really nice. We had a very spacious, quite, clean and warm room. The location is excellent, very close to Kensington Gardens. The only problem is that the metro station is not so close, so it is a long walk to the hotel, which may be a problem if you are traveling with havy luggage.

Let me get this straight: This is not a four star hotel. I slept in a single room for two nights and the room was tiny, the aircon unit sat directly on the bedroom (the ones that have both the external and internal split in the same box) and it was very noisy. The bed wasn't that good and the bathroom was tiny (no bath - just a tiny shower). Furthermore if you have any kind of dissabilities I wouldn't be recommending this hotel: I had to go through 7 security doors and 5 steps just to get to my room.
It's good for the location (if you want to stay around that area, of course --- the nearest tube stop is 10-15 minutes walk away), but you'd be better off in another hotel.

Hotel was just great for London accomodations. A bit of a walk to the nearest Tube station but we liked the Hotel Bar across the street.Spacious rooms and pleasant and quiet service.Free wireless that actually works flawlessly went along way as well.

We were upgraded so cannot comment on standard rooms. Excellent location for Albert Hall. Service in restaurant too slow to allow for a meal before the show but apart from that it was fine.

The hotel is very nice and very well located (less than 5min walk to Kensigton Gardens). The rooms are small, but that's what you'd expect in any hotel in that area...
You get a minibar in your bedroom and the usual kettle+tea, but breakfast was not included (an extra £12.50!). Considering what I'd already payed for the room (~£60), that seemed a bit excessive.

I had a really nice stay at John Howard Hotel,
I found the hotel on the internet, but had my eye on several other hotels in the center of London. In the end I decided to go for the John Howard, mainly because of the nice location in Kensington.
I stayed 3 nights on the 5th floor. The room was big and very spacious, clean and quiet. The staff were friendly and very helpful, even with bringing food in the middle of the night after we came home from partying at 4.30 in the morning!
My only complaint would be that the staff didn't know how to handle the SAS Eurobonus System, which the hotel is a part of according to several websites. So I never got my bonus points, which was a little annoying, but it doesn't take away the fact that I had a great stay at the John Howard Hotel.

The smallest room I have ever seen ! The reaction of the employees was as limited as the square meters of the room. On the basis that you are a business traveller and that you request a single room it seams that you can't ask for a minimum of comfort.

Nice location, close to Kensington Gardens. Staff was competent and quick (although not overly friendly). We spend some extra bucks for the "executive double" which was really worth it. I would return without hesitation.

The hotel is locate quite far from the city center that is easily accesible by tube. The nearest tube station is 10-15 minutes walk.
The awful thing was that venere website says that price include breakfast but the condfirmation received by the hotel said "only bed". I had to contact the hotel directly, venere did not care about it, and thanks to their good service I managed to get the breakfast included. Anyhow it is not worth the 12,50 pounds they ask for it. Rooms are great, big bathroom. Those on the front side are noisy if you want to leave the window open and we had to ask for a change. The second room on the back side was much better.

Super location, comfortable for public transport (tube only 15 mins, buses 2 mins).
The bathrooms could be a little bit nicer, given the quality of the rest of the hotel.
The hotel is on the opposite side of the road shown on the map.

The hotel was ok. Nothing special. If you look at the INCLUDED/NOT INCLUDED IN THE PRICE section it states...
"Breakfast is not included in the price.
Breakfast is included in the price. "
It is not included and is an extra £12.50 p/p. When I booked the section clearly stated that it was included, on departure they charged me for it.... Typical of a Best Western I guess.
There were no coffee and tea facilities in the room and the hot water in the shower was luke warm at best. It is a long walk from the tube stations and to shops or resuraunts. I have stayed in a number of quality 4 star places and this is not a good one. I tried this once and won't do it again.
