The Hotel Russell was a divine hotel to stay at in terms of the architectural and interior merit. The room was pleasant and cosy, but well designed to maximise space. Unfortunately the hotel fell down when we called for room service. The room service staff were rude, stating that we had the incorrect room service menu and that we couldn't have the sandwich we wanted. When it arrived, the staff expected cash when we had been asked top leave our credit details at the desk for room service and to top it off the sandwich was inedible and certainly overpriced at £11. If we had avoided the room service it would have been an 8/10, but the service brought it down to a 6/10.

The underground is just around the corner. A nice part across the street, and British Museum just a few blocks.
The hotel is ok, breakfast is ok, but to charge £5 for an adapter is way over what's reasonable.

My room was upgraded on arrival to a lovely spacious double with views over Russell Square.
I chose this location for business purposes and was impressed by the wide public corridors which give a sense of grandeur rare in London.I did not use the restaraunts/bars but the room was superb.

It was a disaster from start to finish - firstly they couldn't find by booking. Then the room was hideous, a single room which was dingy and old. THe bed was uncomfortable, an old mattress from the 70's and the room was so noisey I didn't really get much sleep. I asked if they could rectify the problem and they said I would only get a similar room. I didn't try the room service, cause I figured if the room was that bad, who knows what the food will be like. Really disappointing.
