Last used this hotel over 20 years ago when it was the Bonnington. It has undergone much modernisation which has reduced the 'character' but it remains a good place to stay especially for anyone needing to be near Bloomsbury

The hotel is ideally situated, we chose it as it was near a tube station but strolled there in under 30 minutes from central London! The room was very modern, clean and deserving of the 4star rating, but the foyer and entrance looked a bit cheap. Very clean and nice hotel, good breakfast too!Great value for money. We will definitely stay here again.

Overnight stay only. Very pleased with quality of room and facilities, good buffet breakfast. Very handy for British Museum; equidistant from Holborn and Russell Square tube stations with ~ 5 minute walk to each. Euston, King's Cross and St Pancras railway mainline stations ~20 minute walk. Variety of local restaurants we enjoyed the food and service at Denise's Restaurant about 200 hundred yards north on opposite side of Southampton Row.

Overall, this hotel is only OK! the location was good, the room was nice, spacious and clean, but and this is a big but, the level of customer service was poor to extremely bad and rude at times and for this reason alone I would not return to this hotel or recommend it to anyone..

We stayed at the Bonnington for one night in january we booked an executive double and it was exactly as shown in the picture. We arrived at the hotel at 10am to drop of our bag but we were able to check in and given our room. Breakfast was buffet style and was of an excellent standard. Would definately stay again and would recomend it to other travellers.

The surrondings were excellent just near a TESCO supermarket and the British Museum. The hotel was very clean and the room was very beautiful with a spacious bathroom. Only one step away from the Holborn underground.

At 72 pounds this was excellent value for money. The hotel is being renovated, the rooms are cozy, stylish and quiet. Gabriela at the reception was a real treat. Breakfast OK. Nothing to complain about, except the guy at the concierge told us the tube was available in the morning of Boxing Day but actually it was not, generating quite a frustrating and costly trip back to the airport. Don't even consider going to the restaurant next door, Verdi. We never had such a bad experience in many many years.
I'll defintely come back again and suggest this hotel to anyone coming to central London.

it's my first time in London. Acording to what I heard about London acomodation, these hotel I think is the best choice. Is clean and walking distance to all you have to see in London. The room are not so big, (acording to croatian regulations), in fact is to small for a 4 star hotel. The breakfast is in a restaurant with a buffet, but they put ham and cheese when is missing, only on request. On Boxing day they had no bread, only toast! Toast is not warm, but cold. It would be better to put some toasters near the buffet table. Anyway don't go to London on Christmass hollydays, because everything is closed and even the underground is not working, the taxies cost a double rate. You can not eat, not drink, no toilet no nothing! But in these hotel everything is working and was our saveness, like an oasis in the desert. We get food and drink, for reasonable price.

Stayed for Saturday night only, so not affected by the current refurbishment work. Excellent location within short walk of British Museum & 20-30 minute stroll or short cab ride to West End.
The room size was modest, but not terrible, & there was some noise from a hen night, but not for long.
The restaurant downstairs was quiet & the food unexceptional. However, the bathroom was good, the room clean with an iron & safe that both worked well & the bed comfortable. On balance, I've stayed at a lot worse for a lot more money & I would recommend it for a short stay where location was more important than luxury.

The Bonnington has been refurbished and upgraded to a 4* hotel during 2007. Our room was on 4th floor overlooking Southampton Row and was newly furnished and decorated to a high standard. We were attending a function there and had booked through www.Venere.com 10 months prior to our visit at an excellent rate. The room had one armchair and one dining chair, tea and coffee making facilities, an iron and ironing board; buffet breakfast had everything anybody could want early in the morning but the seating arrangements were a bit tight. The location is excellent between Holborn and Russell Sq. tube stations. We found Holborn easier. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful – a good hotel and we will stay there again.

Wery nice hotel, and 5 minutes walk from shopping at Oxford street. Fine and spaceious room (executive double) and nice bathroom with tub. The only negative was the breakfast. The personal obviously was more focused on preparing for lunch than giving good service for us who was having a late breakfast (during the last half-hour of breakfast time).

When I arrived in the late evening for my stay at the Bonnington, I was told that the room I had booked was no longer available. This was troubling, until a manager came to ask if it was ok to move me to another room, which turned out to be a two-bedroom executive suite with skylights in a renovated part of the hotel. Needless to say, this was much lovelier than I had expected. The staff graciously allowed me to stay there for the duration of my visit and were very friendly and helpful the entire time. Also the hotel is in a great location, close to the central line, and walking distance to cozy Bloomsbury and lively neighborhoods like Covent Garden.

I would return to the Bonnington, but most likely after construction is over. The room at L139 is clean, but quite small with not much room for suitcases.
You'll have to complain to get a room in the back, away from construction. It was very quiet there. Upgraded rooms are nice and much larger. The hotel was very clean, the bed was comfy and the breakfast was great. The staff seemed to always be willing to help and is nice, but often confused. The location is really great, a few minute walk from the Holborn tube stop and truly walkable for much of the city.

We were upgraded from the superior room we had booked to an executive and our room was spacious, stylish and quiet. We paid £99 through Venere, but the rack rate price was £240!
The location is good and within walking distance from Covent Garden. There was also very secure parking across the road in Bloomsbury Square underground carpark.
Be aware that renovations are ongoing and slightly noisy during the day.

Bonnington Hotel has just been renovated and the rooms were clean and modern. Price was reasonable for London and the location was perfect. Walk to West End, Covent Garden, Oxford Street etc. was easy and close. Tubes were also close as well. Starbucks five doors down. Late night restaurants in the same block. The British Museum was two blocks away. I have stayed at more expensive hotels in London and this was my favorite so far.

We had a real problem with noise at this hotel. The maid’s closet door is slammed every morning beginning at around 7-7:30 am. We stayed on the third floor two separate occasions in different rooms in July and the noise from the slamming door will definitely wake you up. Weekend or weekday did not seem to matter.
The Front desk had a little difficulty with the check in at 3:00 as the rooms were not ready. Otherwise they were fairly gracious but a little flustered. The bar service was excellent except for the small blonde gal that cannot seem to muster up any reasonable sense of customer service. The Concierge was excellent and never failed to assist. He helped with finding a specialty shop, train and bus reservations and general directions. This was the most excellent part of the staff.
Breakfast was reasonable and fairly good. The facilities are clean and neat but be aware the hotel is undergoing a renovation so if you want to sleep in during the week you may be disturbed by the construction noise.
The location is within walking distance to the British Museum and this is generally a good part of town to stay. Overall I would stay there again but would wait until after the construction. I would also superglue that third floor maid’s closet shut before I went to bed.

Good hotel in good location. Handy for Kings Cross station (approx £8.00 via taxi one way). Breakfast was good and staff very attentive. Rooms had been refurbished and although not huge had were clean and had modern facilties (flat screen television, new bathroom etc). Would definitely recommend.

There was a wedding on the night I stayed and I couldn't sleep initially as I was directly above the wedding reception. However, I called reception and they moved me to two further rooms, once of which was overlooking the main road and was noisier. I could still hear the wedding in the room I finally ended up in, but I did sleep. The staff are excellent and were very helpful and did their best to find me a quiet room. Some rooms are tight spacwise. The breakfeast is fine as well. I think Holburn tube station is a better one for the hotel, but that isn't mentioned on the site. I will definitely use that hotel again. For the money you can't beat it.

This is a great place to stay. close to the B.museum and so on. My only complaint was room 617 with a lot of construction going on and my airconditioning did not work. So next day in 318 where the service elevator was audible until 12pm. Overall, my favorite place in London, the concierge was the best--my glasses were broken and he helped me find an oculist open on Saturday.
