Very nice place to stay! Right in the middle of Locarno, close from shops, restaurants and bars.
Only point is that the price of the garage is not included in the venere price. Count on average 7 swiss francs (5 dollars) per night.
Staff really nice and hotel absolutely well decorated!
Would come back.

Hotel is centrally placed, my room was horrible noisy and hot (no aircondition) at night. I could only decide between not being able to sleep because of the noise from outside the street or because of the heat inside the room!

The hotel was very hard to get to because we arrived on the eve of the film festival so we had to park and walk with our bags quite a ways because the Piazza was blocked off. Otherwise, great location right on the piazza, rooms were fine, would stay there again.

The age, uniqueness, painted fresco ceiling in our room, the ambience and coolness (in May) of our room was a delight. We enjoyed this positively ancient hotel but it is rather unusual and not to everyone's expectations of a hotel. Awkward stairs if you have a large suitcase but there is another entrance on a different level to the hotel. The public rooms were unusual and not much in use. Breakfast was served in our room, not very exciting but there was an unexpected little garden. Central enough to the palio and the sights of Siena. You need good mobility to stay in this hotel, the street is fairly steep and so are the stairs.

A nicely-situated and well-managed hotel with hard-working staff. However, those at Reception were sometimes rather impatient and should have been a little more personally welcoming - they have a very good 'product'!
The buffet breakfast was plain but plentiful and wide-ranging.
The restaurant was very good value for an evening meal.
One of the dining rooms had (I think) a 17th-century ceiling with the remains of painting and of a few inscriptions in German - perhaps dating from the conquest of this area by the Swiss Confederation. Some of this ceiling is hidden behind a 'false' ceiling at present: if it could be slightly restored and better exposed, this would be a very attractive asset for the hotel.
Our first visit: we should be happy to go back there.

This was a genuinely dreadful experience. We were allocated a room at the side of the hotel and what we could not have appreciated is that at that particular side of the hotel there is a popular Cafe. The clients of the cafe were themselves NOT a problem but because of the structure of the hotel and the surrounding buildings the noise from this cafe rendered sleep impossible. Now if this had been the last room in the hotel we could have understood and accepted this as bad luck but the hotel had plenty of spare occupancy and so we should have been allocated a different room. Of course we did not appreciate the problem until we went to bed by which time we were ready for bed with our stuff all over the place so to change the room was not an easy option. In any case we thought the noise would die down (which eventually it did). The people outside were NOT having a party they were just talking normally but because of the sound 'tunnel' effect the noise was horrendous...so make sure that you check the rooms for noise before you move in!!. The front desk were not at all sympathetic to our problem and shrugged shoulders on the basis that they did not care.

The 23rd August 2006 is my first day in Locarno, switzerland. The first time when i checked in to Hotel dell'Angelo i felt WOW! I really like the quite, clean and spaceous environment in the hotel. Overlooking the window from my room, the lush green hills and the cluster of houses and church perch on the hills made me feel i was in heaven! One more thing i like personally about the Hotel is that, the Hotel itself is located at the heart of the piazza grande ( Central Square) where the Locarno International film festival is held every year. Some of the MUST SEE sites in the city are within the walking distance from this location. If you are looking for some quite, clean and good hospitality Hotels at affordable budget in Locarno you must check in to Hotel Dell'Angello now and feel fresh!
